Ntcham will be wondering, what more for a regular start?

331

After an ominous start, Celtic coped well with PSG’s superstars before they retired at halftime.  The midfield, in particular, looked effective.  Mohamed Elyounoussi, Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham were always comfortable.  The latter must be wondering, what more for a regular starting place?  I would not know how to answer that question.

The first half goals were irritating as inattentiveness contributed to them, taking the shine off what I thought was a really good demonstration of why we should play three at the back.  I know the club are busy with recruitment targets, but the shape of the team Neil Lennon wants to play will feed into details, like how many central defenders we need.  At least two, I suggest.  Nir Bitton does well, especially in possession, but his instincts are not those of a central defender.

It was great to see Tom Rogic back and looking the part.  We missed his presence in midfield for much of 2019, to the extent that my expectations of him have lowered.  It will be interesting to see how his fitness builds from this point onwards.

Hamilton Accies a week on Sunday will be a different challenge, alas.

  4. The champions return to Paradise with pre-season double-header

By: Newsroom Staff on 24 Jul, 2020 11:01

CELTIC return to Paradise for two pre-season friendly matches against Ross County this Sunday, July 26 (KO: 1pm) and Hibernian on Monday, July 27 (KO: 1.30pm).

Neil Lennon’s side will use these two games as further preparation ahead of the start of the Premiership season, when the Scottish champions face Hamilton at home on Sunday, August 2.

The Hoops have already played three tough games in France this month, against Nice, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain, and on Sunday they take on the Highland side. The following day, Jack Ross’ Hibernian team will be the visitors to Paradise.

Both of these games, against Ross County on Sunday and Hibernian on Monday, will be played behind closed doors and supporters are urged NOT to come to the stadium.

Both matches will also be test games for the ‘Pass To Paradise’, the virtual element of the 2020/21 season ticket, and season ticket holders will be able to watch the games at home and cheer on the Bhoys.

Meant to ask a few times, is the aul plaza ballroom still there ?

and the fountain in the middle of the floor ?

remember dancing about it a few times to the big band sound.

And must admit, in it a couple of times, much to my shame.

Found the answer this morning to my own query about away goals in the single tie uefa qualifiers – no, away goals are not decisive in the event of a drawn game.

From Champions League Regulations 20201/2021, Article 14 Match System – Qualifying Phase is where we arrive. 14.01 deals with the preliminary round.

14.02 All other qualifying matches are played on a single-leg basis. If the score is equal at the end of normal playing time, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played. If one of the teams scores more goals than the other during extra time, that team is declared the winner. If the score is still equal after extra time, the winner is determined by kicks from the penalty mark. The provisions of Paragraph 20.01 do not apply.

(Article 20 Away goals rule, extra time and kicks from the penalty mark

20.01 For matches played under the knockout system, if the two teams involved in a tie score the same number of goals over the two legs, the team which scores more away goals qualifies for the next stage.)

Bring on the Accies. Draw for the 1st and 2nd round qualifiers is 9/10 August.

Thing is, I think Kayal would want to play.

I’d happily have him back but he’d be competing for a place with Soro, Brown and Bitton. Crowded field.

Our priority should be finding a goalkeeper, winger, and some defenders.

  16. If Southampton are looking for around 5 -6 million for Big Frazer, sorry,I would rather we spent the money on Barkas.A lot younger, equally as impressive,,and probably a good bit cheaper in wages. Also with a re-sale value.Get that tied up,then we can look for a ready to play striker.Even a season loan.

Hun forums blaming companies who do the testing are at fault for not doing the tests on time. Their lack of self awareness never fails to amaze me, testing not disclosed so play anyway😱
