Call me a cynic, but after recent “soft” red cards shown against Motherwell and Hamilton players facing Celtic, I sense a bit of “even themselves out” in store for us at Hampden on Sunday. Memories of Hampden semi-finals against Inverness and Ross County, where we were denied progress and (probably) a trophy due to red cards feature heavily in the memory.
The best chance Newco have to stop Celtic and reach their second Scottish Cup final would be to fall poleaxed on the ground after each and every challenge from a Celtic player. Bobby Madden may feel obliged to show that referees are not scared to red card Scotland’s top players.
Celtic being reduced to 10 men didn’t do Newco any good at Ibrox last month, but they would bite your hand off for a second crack at those numbers.
We need to play smart, especially Scott Brown, who I expect will be targeted. Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player will be short.

I remember that. (Lorimer)
We must be of the same vintage bud!

My dad always said that Peter Patrick Lorimer should have been a Celtic player.
He had the hardest shot I ever saw.
Murdo took most free kicks in DPs era….
Good man Dallas.
I thought if anyone can recall, it will be you.
Hail Hail
I’m probablywrong but Davie may have scored one against Dundee at Dens Park around September 85 . He had a great game that day. It was within the next month or two he was struck down with ME .
At the start of the 1985/86 season, Davie was in the form of his life. He had spent the close season in Australia playing for a team to get his match fitness as he was injured a lot in the 84/85 season.

Murdo took most free kicks in DPs era….
—————-
Yes he did. Though most of the goals I remember Murdo scoring were from open play, with the best being the 4th in the ten men women the league game.
women the = won the (of course).

Not a bad idea….vary your corners. Whatever happened to the ol’ ‘training ground move’?
nostalgia .com celtics stadium is the seventh largest stadium in the uk, who are the other six hh.
You may not have heard of Percy Button but I wonder if Graeme Murty has and perhaps he came across that particular Australian Legend on a wee stroll through Perth (Oz)?
As anyone with an eye for the unusual, or in my case in early May 2009, half-mashed after visiting Kano and having a sesh with his best pal Ramie in a bar called ‘Fenian’s” (imagine one of them here) ?, will tell you the memorial to Percy lingers long in the memory.
So why mention Graeme Murty?
Well surely this is where he got the idea and perhaps even how Percy Button became Murty’s Mentor.

Jimmynotpaul, I hope your allergic reaction has calmed down this week.
That Davie Provan free kick was in a game where Cooper, Simpson and possibly Rougvie were booting the crap out of us. Peter Grant had a bit of handbags with Cooper near the end of the game which was roared on by our support.
I used to look forward to our games v the Dons , in the early to mid eighties, more than those against the Huns.
I know that they’ve nearly finished building the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, or Aberdeen Bypass, if you like. Intial cost thought to be around £550m. As quoted in the Scotsman in 2014.
Would imagine it’ll have exceeded that, since it’s going to be completed at least 6 months late.
Maybe some of that was paid for from Road fund licence.
