ODIN HOLM is at the centre of a new Celtic riddle after it was noted the midfielder was a stark omission from the champions’ official first-team squad photograph for season 2024/25.
The 21-year-old Norwegian midfielder’s Hoops future was thrown into doubt last month after Brendan Rodgers dropped him from his Champions League plans, as CQN reported.
Holm, who cost £2.25million from Valerenga last summer, was left out of the manager’s 25-man squad for Europe’s most prestigious competition.
IN THE FRAME…Brendan Rodgers and John Kennedy with the Celtic first-team squad for 2024/25 season – with no sign of Odin Holm, a mystifying omission.
The anchorman had been included the previous term although his debut turned into a nightmare following a red card in the opening 2-0 loss against Feyenoord in Rotterdam.
He was also pitched in as a half-time substitute for Matt O’Riley in the 6-0 away collapse against Atletico Madrid when the visitors had to play with 10 men for over an hour after Daizen Maeda’s ludicrous sending-off.
And Holm discovered he was out of the picture – quite literally – when his team-mates assembled at Lennoxtown for the official image which was released this morning.
The player has yet to start this season and has clocked up a mere 24 minutes following three substitute appearances against Kilmarnock (4-0), Hibs (2-0) and St Mirren (3-0).
ON THE MOVE…Odin Holm in action in the 2-0 win over Hibs at Easter Road.
Holm slipped down the pecking order even further with the deadline-day arrivals of Arne Engels and Luke McCowan while Paulo Bernardo had already returned on a permanent deal from Benfica a couple of weeks earlier.
The Norwegian made only 13 appearances in his debut campaign and claimed one goal – in the 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over non-league Buckie Thistle In January – as he struggled for game time.
Holm is under contract at Parkhead until June 2028, but all indications are that he will be on the move in the January transfer window.
