Odsonne, Calvin, Cristian and Eboue

Some players always report fit, whether they are or not, but no matter which way Leigh Griffiths views his calf strain from last night, it is likely that Brendan Rodgers will rest the player for Friday’s Premiership game at Hamilton.

With six Celts playing both recent Scotland games, and others performing elsewhere across the Continent, Brendan will surely take advantage of one of the benefits of having a strong squad in a weaker league and rest some limbs.

Patrick Roberts must be itching to get back into competitive action, while Calvin Miller could comfortably deputise for Kieran Tierney, who has already played a lot of football this season. I’d have Cristian Gamboa at right back.

One player who is likely to be rested for Friday is Tom Rogic, who played in Japan last week and is currently halfway through Australia’s home World Cup qualifier against Thailand.

19-year-old Odsonne Edouard will not have met many of this team-mates yet, so you could understand if Brendan Rodgers was cautious about starting him on Friday, but it could also be the perfect opportunity for the player to make a memorable impact.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see Eboue Kouassi pick up the reins in central mid?

HH lived with his mother, a gem of a woman, probably till he got married. He was there in 61 when I moved to Castlemilk. Me and my wee pals used to make fun of the name on the door.

“There are documentarys about people who feel as though they’ve gone through a hole in the fabric of time.

In reality however they’ve just walked along Rutherglen Main St eastwards towards Chapman’s”

I think you may have misread my attemp at a joke mate.

Your missing ‘m’ from the word ‘me’ resulted in the suggestion Kieran would be the next for ‘e’.

As this is the International break, here is a checkpoint on defensive performances for the season so far.

Who has the best overall defensive action success rate? Who is the possession winning prince? Who makes the most errors?

Many new metrics are introduced. You won’t believe me but I try not to overdue the numbers in the articles. But not here – fill yer boots!

Voguepunter…you’re right, of course, about the Cue Ball. It was 88 I played there, on my second coming home…did you know there was a hall there that was used on Sunday nights, as a dance venue for Catholics from St Columbkille’s? We had proddy friends whom we vouched for as ‘good Catholics’ from Sacred Heart in Bridgeton. Suspicious of one them, he was asked to get on stage and sing the Celtic Song, which he duly did…lol

I have just watched – The Sean Fallon Story on BT Sport, what a man, what a character, I’m sitting here very emotional, tears streaming down my face. He lived the “Dream”. God bless him.

    ************

Missed that programme first time around ‘cos we were in Lisbon. What a treat to come across it this afternoon. Sitting watching it with 5 year old grandson who was more interested in the kitten his Mum brought home last night. Cats, and particularly kittens, scare me to death sometimes and he is very much aware of this. He looks up at me and says “don’t worry Grampa, no need to cry. I’ll look after the kitten”. Couldn’t explain the real cause.

My eldest brother got to know Mr Fallon and family quite well when they stayed in Kings Park. “Always call me Sean” he’d say. Very humble man who had nothing to be humble about.

P.S. Don’t tell TD about the cat! :))

A Scotland under16 squad was announced yesterday for two challenge games in Poland later this month. One Celtic name that rings a bell and some others we’ll become familiar with in seasons to come, maybe.

Joshua Bradley-Hurst (goalie), Liam Morrison (defender), Dylan Forrest (middy), Karamoke Dembele (legend), Michael Sparkes (forward).

Come on you bhoys in green

  13. Last chance Saloon for The Republic tonight, Defeat & it’s all over bar the shouting. A draw there is still a chance but realistically we need a win tonight.

  17. Gene,

I think every one from the Legion of Mary to the Scouts used the Parochial, they also had a youth club on a Wednesday, I think, but Sunday night dancing was the night I remember most

  18. Ireland playing a lot better tonight against stronger opposition, begs the question what in the name of God was going on in Georgia.

Back in the early sixties I was a member of St Brigid’s Scouts in Toryglen – I remember going to the Rutherglen group for some training. I remember the hall was accessed through an alleyway off main st

A big congratulations to the widow of the late Frank Kopel for convincing the Scottish Government, ( this is not a pro or anti SNP post) to , hopefully , implement Frank’s Law .

Frank died in his sixties after developing Dementia. Due to his age when he was diagnosed , he did not qualify for assistance from the NHS and local council .

Frank’s law , it is hoped , will help those , irrespective of age , qualify for assistance for this dreadful condition.

  22. Gene

I think that was the Scout Hall off main st the Parochial was near the cop shop. Incidentally my grandfather was the watchman when St Brigids was being built.

  23. Qhere

I was part of the first intake when school was opened – used to play about on the building site.

  25. Another shocker from the PLC today, only season ticket holders could buy another 3 match package for the UCL, so people living in the midlands and beyond don’t get a sniff, I buy tickets throughout the season & a shareholder, but if you’ve got a season book you can buy your next door neighbour a 3 match package! Feckin shockin!
