Ogilvie was born for this moment as SFA to consider expelling Rangers

877

Although Rangers won their case at the Court of Session today, they have the option not to serve the ruling on the SFA that its Judicial Panel’s 12 month ban on player registration is illegal.  Winning the point in law might sound like a victory, but taking the Association to court breaks membership rules of the SFA, rules imposed on all associations by Fifa.

We will find out soon enough the reach of SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, who was one of the recipients of an EBT which precipitated Rangers crisis.

Rangers are deep in Sion territory now.  Either they walk away from this showdown, the SFA expel or suspend them from football, or Fifa will shortly remind the SFA of their duties when a member club takes action in the civil courts.

Campbell Ogilvie was born for this moment; it justifies him holding onto his position all these months despite being “heavily conflicted”, according to his chief executive.  I do not expect this to end well.

Despite an independent judicial panel ruling against Rangers, there is no way the office holders at the SFA will expel Rangers, no matter what they do. They would rather jeopardise the Scotland national team and every other club’s European participation.

  1. If the decision has to go back to the Appeals Tribunal and SFA decide to do that …… would it have to be the same three people?

Or in the spirit of Scottish football would three new members be appointed and named?

In the same spirit, maybe McCoist will just be allowed to appoint them.

Patrick I’m hopeful that Celtic are working behind the scenes within other football associations to gain entry, most likely one being in England given that a senior employee at CFC stated on Sat night we’d be playing in England within 3 yrs.

I hope and believe that this is what DD and PL have been working towards all along, Uefa will prove compliant in this as they understand that it’s CFC who have suffered most over the last 10yrs or so of false player registration etc etc

    Move on out Celtic!

I don’t believe Celtic will be allowed to leave Scottish football.Uefa are terrified of this scenario as it could lead to clubs from other leagues trying the same route.Even with their knowledge of what’s gone on in this country they’ll refuse.

  7. Just watched STV and that stupid Huns face says it all. They realise they have just stood on a landmine and cannot move without disastrous consequences.

Celtic will postpone their SPL match due on the day of the Real game.

Interesting development. Could it be that they actually want the big sanction? We know the CVA is a bluff/blind and the real game is Liquid and newco. But if (at the right point) RFC (IA) are expelled then no greater sanction could be applied to this or any other offence.

Only under a CVA would this matter. Under the big L, RFC (IA) fully punished then dies. All sins punished. Newco emerges and cannot be sanctioned under existing laws, back in the SPL off and running.

Even if all this comes to pass I doubt this is the real ‘sting’ currently underway.

I’ve said it before, a few times.

And I’ll say it again – Ogilvie runs the whole shebang. Doncaster and Regan are just his little bitches, fed the party line and expected to act as instructed.

The Celtic board must be watching all this with interest. As soon as it begins to affect us, I would think they’ll start to load the magazines.

Agree wholeheartedly. We are the only show in town financially these days. WE ARE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL NOW. So, it is time to issue some serious ultimatums. Without us the game is over.

  11. Prediction time.

The SFA tribunal will impose a lesser penalty of suspension fn the Scottish Cup for 1-year.

The Huns will accept this punishment.

UEFA/FIFA will decide that the problem is resolved, everything in the garden is rosy and walk away without needing to take any action.

  12. I fail to see how this can be a “win” for Rankers- the judge sending the case back to the original panel means any fresh SFA sanction will be set in stone as they have no recourse. The fresh sanction is likely to be much heavier, particularly with FIFA looking over the SFA’s shoulder. The triumphalistic hun mind-set is so blinded by its own sense of hubristic superiority that it charges blind like a rutting bull with watermelon testes right into a trap it could easily have avoided…the SFA need to bury these absolute b*****d’s for good.

  13. Alersyde avenue,

if they are suspended from the scottish cup then the CVA

is up in the air, where would they go from there

  14. So … the SFA could tell them to shove their court decision. What would the huns do then? They can’t sign players anyway so what’s the point.

Or … the SFA could risk UEFA wrath by referring it back to the Appeal Tribunal. It could throw then out of the Scottish Cup, suspend them for a period or expel them entirely. We know it wouldn’t expel them.

Meanwhile the CVA is being rejected and the newco formed. And the newco will argue that none of this old stuff is in any way related to them.

We must continue to argue that a newco in the SPL is totally unjustified. The sideshows don’t really matter.

  15. Of course they want the big sanction.

    Rocket Man’s predictions:

CVA to fail – Newco will be established playing in England in the place of Banstead.

  16. Okay..enough is enough….it’s time for our Board to take action NOW. Contact FIFA/UEFA and make sure that lot of knuckledraggers get DONE..finished..over..out..gone. This is not funny any more. There’s more than the atench of guffery about the way Scotia is dealing with their favourite son – the hun.

    HH!

Here is Roy Harper’s son Nick doin’ “Knuckledraggers”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWILEjQ03xo&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  17. What’s to say that the SFA Tribunal, chaired by a prominent law figure (as per the last one), won’t return a ‘the original decision was legal and correct’?

Obviously the SFA should appeal today’s decision first, lodging appeal on the 21st and final day, dragging the whole soap opera that is FC Taxdodgers out a bit longer. If they win, embargo stands, if they don’t back to the Tribunal.

Meanwhile they should also issue a statement saying they are taking advice from FIFA as to what sanctions they can take against them for going to court in the first place.

Then on June 14th they should refuse them their licence for next season, i’m sure even if duff & duffer are able to supply accounts there will be enough holes in them to make them irrelevant.

    I know.

However, short of the options that I mentioned (ad nauseum), I don’t know what Celtic can effectively do.

The other clubs, with perhaps, one or two exceptions, will not vote for their club’s interests, or the “good of S. football.

They will answer the call of the widow’s son.

They are honour (?) bound to do that.

I believe that this call will also be heard in the corridors of power in Nyon and Geneva.

    Hence my,almost, total disenchantment.

If we don’t get out of there, Celtic will be like a lost love. Gone, but not forgotten.

  20. The SFA will not ignore the court decision. It must ask the governing authorities for guidance and instruction. To appeal the decision is to participate in the court process – against FIFA’s wishes. To ignore the court interlocutor would be contempt. Big Campbell O is between a rock and a hard place – at last !!!

The SC ban seems to have come from nowhere ,I seem to remember people posting that the SFA had let them off lightly as suspension /expulsion should have been given ,no mention of SC ban .

wasn’t it lucky though that the SFA deemed the non payment of SC monies to D Utd not proven ,thus leaving this sanction available for this scenario .

The more things change the more they stay the same

Agree with every word of that. They should abstain and bring their lawyers to the post vote press conference. Suing UEFA citing the FFP as being restrictive to business.

I fear the thought of losing the Old Firm will prove too much for them including Celtics dodgy NO vote.
