Oli, Odsonne, Moussa and James, your Celts are on fire!

290

Absolutely tons of positives and one negative, from last night.  I’ll leave the negative until tomorrow as the other ten players were just so good and I might have calmed down a bit by then.

Despite allowances made for the calibre of Alashkert, Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard were unplayable last night.  Moussa got the Man of the Match award, probably for his two goals, but Odsonne was more deserving.  His ability to create space by drawing players towards him by running with the ball was the most significant aspect of the game.

The no. 7 role at Celtic has never been an easy shift, even Jinky learned this in his early days, but James Forrest pace and stamina make him the archetype modern version of the wide right player.  James is a player you cannot get too close too.  His speed forces defenders to stand off.  Get too close and he will be away from you before you know he has moved.

Defenders need to double up on him. Again, creating space elsewhere.  And then there’s his goals.

Olivier Ntcham is unrecognisable from the player he was a year ago.  The next challenge will be to get him kick on from here.  The window of opportunity with French youth players will a little tighter than in previous years, but we have an attractive story to tell to talent swimming in that pool.  I hope we continue to fish there.

Loved the new LED floodlights, although we will not get their full effect until the entertainment pack is loaded and games take place in darkness.  The new speakers are loud.  Not Fir Park stairwell loud, but clearly audible in the North Stand Upper.

“Sftb,,,did you have biscuits and gravy?”

Not had that culinary pleasure but I did have something called “dirty rice”, which tasted quite nice.

We did a short hike in the Michaux State Forest where, like your cougars, we were warned about Rattlesnakes, however they described them as “unjustly feared” but we never saw any

Wow! Interesting development regarding the Rangers notice of complaint.

It sounds like the evidence the resolutioners presented on the 26 June made an impact…

Who conducts the prosecution at CAS?

    ===============

The real significance here is that in mid May TRFC said accusations around activity at end of March 2011 were groundless.

The SFA were presented with information that suggested otherwise, which would have been passed to TRFC for comment.

They have not disputed that evidence but have instead said SFA are not in a position to rule on the matter and have contended that the Notice of Complaint must be determined by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

That is more than welcome and is a point that was made to Celtic when told the SFA Comp Off was going to investigate that input would be needed from UEFA and HMRC for a correct decision to be made.

What is not clear, because what goes to CAS has still to be agreed, is whether TRFC are claiming that the 5 Way is in effect a pardon for RFC’s misdeeds or that the licence was granted and monitored as UEFA intended their rules to be applied.

If the latter then CAS have already ruled on similar cases for Malaga in 2012 and Giannina in 2013 where they upheld UEFA’s decision that both clubs were in breach of UEFA FFP in similar circumstances and in Giannina case should not have been granted a licence in March.

It would be up to CAS to decide if there was a difference in the RFC application that made the grant legit. If not and extracts of both Giannina and Malaga cases were provided to SFA two weeks ago, then an overdue payable did exist and how RFC got around that will become subject to CAS scrutiny and as a result UEFA scrutiny who don’t like being lied to. Its a risk TRFC will be taking but if licence granted legitimately then that is all Res12 asked to establish. If not that is up to God knows whom to decide on sanctions.

If TRFC are arguing that the 5 Way pardons them from sins of RFC, that puts 5 Way under CAS scrutiny and given that one part at least, the transfer of SFA Membership from RFC to TRFC/Newco conflicts with a UEFA Regulation designed to protect the integrity of UEFA competition (Article 12) then the integrity of the 5 Way comes under question.

Bottom line is this has to go to CAS and Celtic need to be more pro active in ensuring all factors are considered, because as matters stand TRFC are accusing Celtic shareholders of being trouble makers and Celtic and CSA and CST, who have been briefed, simply cannot let that go unchallenged . Celtic should welcome CAS adjudication and not let SFA off the hook by not insisting SFA take the matter to CAS in order to satisfy their shareholders all was handled as UEFA intended in their rules.

If Celtic do not do that then Neganon2 has a new follower.

Do you think Celtic should do that privately or release a Statement? I suppose it would depend on how successful the private request would be and if such a request will be made.

I thought that was the weekend GAA Bhoys posting..?

  5. Hope we now shelve plans to sign mcginn this window. Pre-contract in jan is order of day. No rush on that one and if anything hibs have reduced his value to us.

Hopefully we can get one or two quality players in over the next six weeks. Quality players have more and better options so it takes longer to get deals done particularly if your playing in scotland.

Still a fair bit of squad trimming to go so hopefully we can move a few fringe players on.

We can all judge the transfer window once it has closed.

This country, Scotland, is infected by a sectarian sickness that in years to come will only get worse. My youngest is in Australia loving her life, my second daughter is half way through Uni and intends to join her there on completion of her studies.

I could never leave as my Mum and brothers are still here. I honestly fear for the future of this country.

Ireland will be united in our lifetime and fundamentalist Protestants will flock to Scotland, this isn’t a country you want your kids in when that happens.

  7. All sport is bent by peoplw and clubs that cheats and the rangers/ sevco are not the first and will not be the last.

Some public statement would be preferable, just saying they welcome at last that what their shareholders requested in 2013 is finally being taken out of the SFA orbit and put where it should have been in 2013. An apology for not passing Res12 in 2012 would be nice mind you.

  9. Celtic should present the whole case, not the SFA version, to CAS. They need to get that done before anyone else does. As that will force CAS to look at the whole time period. por ceirto

I’ll leave that to the moaners having at least tried to remove one reason to moan.

Thing is if Celtic are not a club like no other, then my emotional investment falls.

I’ll always want us to win of course but I’ll live with the disappointment they are not up to the challenges being a club like no other/more than a club asks them to live up to.

  12. When are you lot ever going to stumble over the conceptual difficulty that Celtic PLC are not interested in anything but your money. They dont care about you, football, justice, society, Europe blah blah blah.

The bigot buck is the only certainty in their business continuity plan.

Now if you were them and your retirement fund was all you cared about what would you do?

Issue a statement or do anything that jeopardizes that?

Come on. However, remember they are just temporary custodians of our great club.

Res 12 was dead the minute the res12’rs stuck their heads above above the parapet at the 2013 AGM.

Nothing but total respect for the res12’rs but Celtic PLC are just hoping it dies.

I had an open challenge on more than a club/club like no other. It still stands. No one could back up the claims without pointin to the fans. They have been shown to be simply gimmicky soundbites without sustance.

Thanks for all your efforts though.

  14. Auldheid as ever all that is happening is kicking a can a bit further down the road before some technicality is introduced to dismiss the whole affair. To be honest the really big stuff has passed without a word or whimper from Celtic. The Huns acted illegally and the sfa said we don’t want to rake over the coals and Celtic simply accepted it. They pretended they wanted an enquiry and then didn’t object when one wasn’t forthcoming.

It was untenable then but Celtic sold us all down the river. Sold our ancestors and our children down the river.

The residue that is res12 is I am afraid just residue. And now the sfa will dress it up the the CAS in. Way that will be defeated. And Celtic will say and do nothing. And when it’s dismissed we will be told it was independently verified.

We have been utterly betrayed. Completely and hopelessly betrayed.

But hey season books are sold out. We are winning at the moment.

But in a few years time when they cheat their way to the top, when Celtic’s horrible lack of ambition means we screw it up you will all be sitting wondering what happened?

    I probably will be too.

CQN will have contributed to it. Wonder if Paul will feel proud…….

  15. And eddieincarmicael Scotland isn’t a sectarian country. It’s a racist country……..,,sectarianism is a Scottish excuse for its racism…..

  16. NegAnon2 on 20th July 2018 12:02 am

I disagree with you on that point

Technically it is as eddieinkirkmichael says. It is sectarianism. If it were racism then our genetic ancestry would somehow be different. That’s the Irony of it all. The Celtic (and I mean that in a neolithic sense) genes of the British isles makes us genetically the same since the viking invasions approximately.

  17. !!Bada Bing!! on

Neganon – same as I see it, great post.I hope against hope that fair play and honesty prevails here. Celtic Football Club have let it come to this stage. They have hidden behind the Res 12 Bhoys, and let fans drive this.I think the majority feared a whitewash from Day 1.HH

  19. Celtarella it’s just all bullshit. A bit like the Labour Party (sadly) trying to redefine anti seminism. Bullshit.

    It’s racism. Racism, racism, racism.

  20. QF on 20th July 2018 12:14 am

The Australian aborigines are probably the most racially distinct people genetically on the planet. Their lineage is so old. That discrimination is not sectarian but pure racism.

Your post was post of the day/week/month. I agree with you.

However, the word racism is based on race which is based on your genetic lineage.

My point is that the hypocrisy of it all is we are all the same race irrespective of religion in this country called Scotland.. Do you genuinely believe that there has been a genetic distinction in Scotland since 1690?

  23. My family tree contains a major break in the years after plantation. My ancenstors remained Catholic and their defendants moved to scotland. Others family members took a different root and are now part of the red white blue and orange of the six counties. Is 300 years enough to make us a different race?

  24. Anyway back to res12. 2 years ago my brother (one of the original res12’rs) told me once when I was back in Scotland that Paul67 attempted to intimidate him and “man up” and “be a man” and go and meet him on his own. We both suspected that Paul67 identified my brother as the “weakest” res12’r and was hoping to “milk” him for info. I wonder upon what motivation? Is that not true Paul67?

    =================

Celtic have all the information to make sure it is not dressed up.

In fact if there is no case to answer there is no need to dress anything up.

Just go to CAS with all the facts about the wtc that SFA have been provided with and ask UEFA if they are satisfied that the proof RFC provided the SFA with in 2011 that no overdue payable existed was a true representation of the status of the liability at 31st March.

Even if it was (and we think not) then there is still a breach of another UEFA FFP rule in last week of May 2011, before UEFA told clubs who were granted a licence, to hurdle before the submissions of June and September 2011 are considered and they still are on the table – ” The Judicial Panel Disciplinary Tribunal proposes to continue consideration of the complaint until parties consider next steps and terms of reference for any remit to CAS.”

The breach at end of May and its consequences is a doozy.

RFC get the licence on 19th April because RFC tell SFA liability is potential, yet 4 weeks later before UEFA notified of licences granted, RFC get HMRC letter of 20th May stating true status of the liability but SFA not told of significant change ( a serious breach) means no questions asked. As long as stuff like this is presented to CAS then its going to take a bit of dressing up to say that RFC acted in good faith etc when obtaining that licence and in providing truthful information in their monitoring submissions.

It will be Celtic’s job to make sure their shareholders views are fully taken into account, even if it turns out no breaches took place.

We have already seen what happens when its left to the SFA alone. They reach an agreement with RFC that excludes a key period and now that has been challenged, TRFC don’t dispute but say SFA not the competent authority.

These guys are not going to do the right thing because its the right thing to do, they are going to have to do the right thing because enough supporters demand it, and if enough don’t care then sooner or later that chicken will come home to roost.

  26. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Reading back on recent events re 2012 etc, looks like our best bet is to somehow get the five-way agreement ruled to be an illegal document.

Scottish football delegated responsibility and executive power to Regan,Doncaster,et al,to act on its behalf. Not to act against its best interests-and rulebook!-to the betterment of perennial cheats.

I’m beginning to think this representative democracy lark isnae working anymore…

  27. Good morning

I just read about the SFA referring the UEFA licence award to TRFC to the CAS.

Is it possible that King and co. could pull a fast one and take the case to the CAS and present their own evidence and obtain a favourable result thus kicking the case into touch?
