There is nothing easier for an agent than to promote his player by ‘leaking’ that a club is interested in his client. Agent contacts scout noting the player’s situation and scout acknowledges information. This is often just a thumbs up sign, but that’s enough for the agent to confirm the club are considering his player.
Scouts are incentivised to be polite to agents and vice-versa. Clubs get annoyed at distractive headlines suggesting they are pursuing a player whom they are not, but are not sufficiently troubled to upset an agent trying to get his player a deal.
Of course Odsonne Edouard’s agent contacted Celtic about the player’s availability, of course Celtic were polite when approached. Is Odsonne on our target list? Only if he is super-cheap. Even then…..

But I also reckon, Paul, there are times when clubs are quite happy for all the meeja speculation which is a key part of the theatre of transfer window doings and dealings; a time when most fans are keen to believe/imagine their club is restocking the inventory with only the choicest produce, for the campaign ahead.
As for Eddy; that’d be a move in the same basket as a Jota move? I have no idea how he has been playing but if Palace and Leicester don’t want, can BR reinvigorate what latterly looked like a nonchalant player to my eyes.

We have enough players in the squad now to win the treble.I am sure there will be more ins and outs before window closes. Brendan is working on bedding in and creating a planB for flexibility.
The problem is that other teams want our better players and we want to keep them. The players we want replaced have little interest.
Welsh is injured as well as Jota but we have enough. Brendan is trying to give B Team a game to see if they can step up. If not then we may need to buy.
I think we need a CH and a winger. Any others would be an upgrade.
