On Griffiths

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

  1. Was on that Celtic news now . Are these guys really Celtic supporters anyway read a piece there AP has seemingly been told that he has to work staff wise with who he has in-house , it’s also alleged he is budget restricted and to introduce academy players , if that’s correct (it’s maybe click bate ) then nothing has changed the Board are still making the decisions at the club , and all the noise from AP that he is in charge is guff. The way the transfer rebuild is going would suggest that there is some merit in the piece , we have seen no large exit from the club , ww are still seeking full backs , we are still short in central defence , up top we are well short in quality hence giving LG that extension , but season tickets bought so boards job done .

A lot of those sites are run by the same people that own the Record, the work with what you’ve got came from two guys on an Australian podcast, I doubt they’re ITK than anyone else, best avoided.

I wonder who the big money is on for the SQL in the coming season?

I wonder if the bookies made a killing in the SQL last season?

Madmitch – I share your positivity re Ange Postecoglou.

First and foremost I was looking for an attitudinal change in the players.

I think I saw the start of that yesterday.

Plus one or two decent but minor cameos around approach.

Not sure this positivity extends to the upcoming qualifier.

Sincerely hope I’m wrong but I think it has come just too early.

Am more relaxed about the league campaign.

  7. !!Bada Bing!! on

If he’s getting done ,for what is alleged, career over, nobody would touch him.

  8. The following is my considered opinion based on Leigh Griffith’s performances on and off the field of play over the last 3/4 years and the latest reported events.

The performance rot started to set in not long after he signed his last contract during Brendan’s time. By all accounts it was in the £1m/year region – a big increase on the previous one. His performances and fitness started going downhill and only accelerated thereafter.

Brendan and Neil Lennon are on record numerous times explaining why he was unavailable for selection – a ‘calf-strain’ was used on more than one occasion.

The ‘mental problems’ press release was lapped-up by the woke GB and one of their many illiterate banners was produced (F*** UEFA) was another. Was he as mentally ill as the guy, who due to his lifestyle cannot turn up for work in the morning and gets the doctor to cover him with a sick-note euphemistically worded?

Standing at a race meeting with a bundle of £50 notes in your hand is not path that a serious person would follow when allowed time off work to recuperate from a ‘mental’ disorder.

Some are suggesting that there may be no criminal element extant – neither was there in the case of SNP’s Mackay, which on the face of it shows similarities – but it was despicable nonetheless.

However, such is the world we live in that he will probably have to get a substantial pay-off from Celtic if they cancel his contract. He’ll prpbably sell his story to The Scottish Sun saying he has changed, sign for Hibs and still pull-in a couple of hundred thousand per year.

There is no blame to be laid at Ange’s door.

  9. VAR

Last night Sterling dived in the box and Ref gave a penalty. VAR looked at it and despite the clear view of no contact they confirmed the penalty. Now, Imagine this at Ibrox when Willie Collum goes with the crowd and gives the Huns a penalty for a blatant dive in the box. VAR is in operation and Stuart Dougal the VAR official confirms Willies misjudgement.

How many times would this happen if we had VAR in Scotland

  10. My main concern right now is the Celtic board. Who is identifying and. buying players when we don’t have a DoF and recently let go our recruitment head. Are we working off of his list? players you would think do not necessarily fit the profile Ange is looking for!

Additionally, there are players around the team spreading negativity like a virus – this needs to be fixed asap as was the downfall of Lennon keeping these player around. Ntchams body language was woeful throughout yesterdays game – looked utterly disinterested when he could be encouraging the kids.

Talking of encouraging kids, The police investigation may determine LG had no way of knowing the girl(s) were underage. If so, he is guilty of stupidity and carelessness. Mistakes like this happen , unfortunately it one thing after another with LG.

We need a club full of professionals top to bottom – we’ll sacrifice a season to get there!

He didn’t. Might Otoo the poster is referring to. por cierto

I’m gonna guess and say he meant French Eddie, they seem to get lumped together. Which is fine we all have players we like and those we don’t

  14. ntcham didnt play – but he sat on the sidelines away from the team looking bored! just as he was in NL team!

  15. My opinion only, but Leigh has a flaw in his character. He reminds me so much of Derek Riordan, another corner boy sadly, loads of talent but!!!!

If we can maybe trade Leigh to Hibs as part of the deal to get Mr Nisbet, I feel this would be a win win for Celtic.

‘While no one predicted this particular story breaking, many raised the issue of Griff’s reliability. His character forms part of that assessment.’

    ###

Nothing he’s done in the past risked the type of reputational damage to the Club inherent here.

This is a completely different matter.

    That should be blindingly obvious.

  17. Agree with those posters who suggest we have given Leigh more leeway than other players.

I am certainly guilty of that. Unsure why. His rocket into the sevco end during our demolition of them will live long on the memory.

However, we must expect complete professionalism from our squad.

Sadly, this could be the final straw for me.

  18. Does anyone know why wee Karamoko never got game time yesterday ……..i also thought one of the younger keepers might have got a smidgeon of game time .

Thought they done well against physically stronger looking opposition .😀👍

VAR should be reserved for simulation, nothing else.

Instead it seems to be entirely exempt.

So it’s just a “what can I blame Ntcham for today” ? Think we get you don’t like him, how you can glean all that from Celtic TV pictures, fair play to you, of course every time it panned to Ange he was sat back in his chair too. He like everyone else, if he shows up in training then he’ll get his chance, if he doesn’t (which your expecting, you may well be right ) he won’t play.

  21. Andy Patons Mullet on

Would the professionalism of the squad improve if we exit LG and ON – yes – hunt both now and let the manager get on with the rebuild without immature and unprofessional players. Appears both Ajer and Eddie – more likely to move on than ON, yet can perform at an acceptable level. We dont need the drama.

  22. Spartim – correct , I don’t like Ntcham in a Celtic jersey. He has huge potential but has shown he lacks the attitude and desire to play for Celtic. The number of times last season where he failed to track back and just gave up was agonizing to watch. We don’t need this attitude in our dressing room and I expect/hope he will be part of a clear out.

I’m disappointed, he was one player I thought could really dominate and build on his talent. Attitude and laziness let him down.

  23. SB @ 3.46

Things have changed — if ON gets his erse into gear then we will have won a watch.

I live in hope — NL and SB have left the building.

We have a grown up in charge.

    Things will be different.

    Hopefully in a good way.

  24. Are Celtic actively trying to get HJELDE to sign an extension to his deal which is in its last year .

Hopefully get him to extend and not lose him to a German team or any other team for that matter , he looks to have everything needed to perform at a good level .

  25. Dont think Griffifths give a flying f… anymore ,especially about his career, and hasn’t for a couple of seasons.should never had contract extended whether story true or not

  26. SCHUMMI on 8TH JULY 2021 3:32 PM

I’m not sure I would agree with your view regarding Hibs having any interest in Griffiths, though I could be proved wrong. Certainly if they were willing to take onboard the included risks of this signing and give Celtic some money off the purchase of one of their own squad then obviously it would be welcomed – can’t see it though.

If I was the Hibs CEO or a board member (or even Jack Ross) I might take offence at Celtic having the front to propose such a deal, it may actually put me off dealing with them at all.

As I say however, I could be proved wrong – wouldn’t be the first etc etc
