There’s a disconcerting level of chatter about players’ fitness ahead of the weekend game despite the fact that we face Ross County tomorrow evening at Celtic Park. County fell apart in October, losing four to Celtic, Motherwell and Aberdeen, but they’ve lost only once since then, a run of form which has seen them leap to the top half of the table.
This game is no ‘gimmie’. One game at a time, Celtic.
The players were back at Lennoxtown yesterday after taking Christmas day off. The rest and associated uptake in calories was probably worthwhile for a team which has played seven games already this month.
Raffle for two tickets for Ibrox game on Hogmanay
You can win two tickets for Celtic’s visit to Ibrox on Saturday, courtesy of club sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, in aid of our Mary’s Meals project. Funds raised will go towards putting food on the table for kids attending the Sean Devereux Primary School in Liberia.
To win all you need to do is donate a minimum of £5 at this MyDonate page AND email me your address: celticquicknews@gmail.com , putting Liberia in the subject line of your email. The winner will be chosen from the emails received and will be verified with the donations, so please put a common name or pseudonym in both.
The competition is open for one day only, closing at 13:00 tomorrow, Wednesday, 28th, so there’s not going to be a lot of time to enter. It’s a great chance to get your Hogmanay off to a flier with a friend.
The money goes directly to Mary’s Meals and will be allocated to the Sean Devereux school within days. Even if you don’t win, you’ll have done a great thing for spending £5, to get on with it.
Stunning work again by Intelligent Car Leasing, who could have used these tickets for corporate clients but chose to help our appeal instead. Tickets will be posted securely (or I’ll deliver by hand, if you’re local). Please make sure you monitor your mailbox or leave a phone number.
And yes, I get the irony: one game at a time Celtic/win tickets for the game after next.

Good morning from a frosty but dull north staffs
Had all the family round last night with my grandsons resplendent in their Celtic tops – brought a tear to the eye. Needless to say drink was taken to a greater extent than is healthy.
Watched the Liverpool game with my Stoke supporting son in law – he went from ecstasy to anger in the space of half an hour. Some poor defending by them.
Looking forward to the game tonight – early goal or two would be great.

Here we go again….another day off , another’s Celtic game. Not too bad.
Hamstring injury could well be flaring up again, it could be Gin related.
Off to the gym to see how it goes on the cross trainer and perhaps I will abstain from the booze today. Hopefully.
Good Morning Bhoys from a dry bright Central Scotland.I am looking forward to tonights game it will be interesting to see what team Brendan picks and will he bring in a couple of youngsters ? I will go for 2-0 to the hoops.H.H.

JC2, thanks, didn’t receive an email. I think ticket is sorted.
I’ve never sat at the bells watching Celtic gubb the Hunnery before. First time for everything. Mibbees last time anaw. In fact if the ref gets the timing right, he might blow the final whistle as the bells are chiming in Queensland.

Big Peat of Islay is good for numbing hamstring twinges.
Looking forward to being in my spiritual home tonight in Paradise, after l celebrate my first Oap Christmas party it could be an exciting day and night
Quonno it would be hard to give The Herald a good name. Stewart Weir Sports Editor ( Larkhall Academy ) and Matt Lindsay ( big blue nose ) have recreated the Rangers News with journos such as Chris Union Jack who need spoon fed by Level 5. A once proud newspaper has allowed its Sports Dept to pull it into the gutter. The Times Scotland has had some very good articles about Celtic in recent weeks and is probably the only paper in Scotland whose numbers are holding up.
Looking forward to the game tonight and would not be surprised for St Johnstone to do some damage in Perth tonight. It would be great if Griff, Moussa and Sinclair could all have a run out tonight and score. I feel that Saturday will be tight and we need to use tonight to go there firing on all cylinders.
Res12 seems to have gone very quiet —Lawwell will be happy and Doncaster relieved. More to come on this one and Lawwells smoking gun will be found in due course.

Bit surprised that Steven McLean to referee Hogmanay game at Crumbledome . Anybody know how old his grandmother is ?
Steven McLean ref for Saturday. He’s now selling a spare for the Copland Road as he’ll not need it.
LENNYBHOY
Hey mister dream seller
Where have you been.
Tell me have you dreams I can see?
I came along, just to bring you this song,
Can you spare one dream for me?
You wont have met me,
And you’ll soon forget.
So don’t mind me tugging at your sleeve.
I’m asking you,
If I can fix a rendezvous,
For your dreams are all I believe.
Meet me on the corner,
When the lights are coming on,
And I’ll be there.
I promise I’ll be there.
Down the empty streets,
We’ll disappear into the dawn,
If you have dreams enough to share.
Lay down your bundles,
Of rags and reminders,
And spread your wears on the ground.
Well I’ve got time,
If you’re dealing mine,
I’m just hanging around.
The Deady Bears at New Year .
Remember a 2-0 loss at their place in 1987 .. Guff game , horrible atmosphere .
Remember a 2-4 loss in 94 . . A horrible game, lots of violence , flying Mars Bars and a noose being waved at the Celtic Board by a fan in the main stand .
Doesn’t matter which Orc is in charge of Saturday. We should still do them
Anyway
Lets concentrate on tonight’s match.
That 1994 game there was a massive queue, bigger than I’ve ever seen, at kick off. I got into Celtic end and said to the guy next to me the big scoreboard must be broken, he assured me it wasn’t, we were 2-0 down within a few minutes. Terrible, terrible day.
Over the course of my lifetime the New Year fixture threw up very few highlights. Happy Birthday Dear Celtic 97/98 being one. Anyway, wonder how it will be in this new fixture.
McLean warmed up for Saturday by giving a ridiculous penalty against Aberdeen.
He’ll have primed Garner on what he’s looking for.
This is the first time we will play second rangers in a hogmanay fixture.
Anyways Ross county first.
Eyes on the prize celtic
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS
If we are “Cute” at the bigot-dome the Garner geezer will see a red.
