Celtic’s season is perched at a tantalising angle, but if you know your history, you’ll know that such pent-up potential often flounders in scrappy cup encounters. Set to face Kilmarnock in the League Cup final, they are favourites in the league and have not allowed a Scottish club to lay a glove on them in almost three months. No one is tipping against them in any competition, but despite being in exactly this situation many times in the last 40 years, only once have they been able to see out a straightforward looking campaign and collect the three trophies available.
All it takes is a bumpy away ground in the middle of winter to level the playing field (metaphorically, if only it would literally) and deliver the inevitable cup exit. Our chances of winning tomorrow are no better than 50/50. Inverness know the script, they are a decent team who, despite two cup exits to Celtic last season, had enough in their locker to deny us five points in the league.
Celtic have a potential of five cup games remaining this season across both competitions, but after Inverness, only one of those can be away from home. With league form seemingly set by metronome, you’re looking at one of the most dangerous games of the season tomorrow.

Agree we need a strong midfield but i’d sacrifice Hoops and play 1 up front and include Sammi in the starting 11. As we know our Greek Ghod can handel himself. I fear that Terry’s hammer thowers will try to boot the bejaysus out of Hoops and JF if they play.
Do not expect a lot of protection from the MIB.
Just a thought
I don’t think we can play Commons and Forest in a 4-4-2, it would need to be a five man mid with Victor, Broonie and Ledley, if these two are in from the start.
Is this the type of game that Pawel might relish?
Rasmussen on the bench?
Fight hard men with hard men.
It makes sense to me.
And, btw, I heard a story this morning, if confirmed will blow the knitting bee my wife goes to, completely apart!
I am just waiting on corroboration, then kaboom!
Watch this space.
We are Celtic. We are on a great run 13 on a trot. Forget yesterday, we should easily beat Invernes: sometimes fairy tales come true: Lisbon 1967: This fairy tail will not happen tomorrow for the “Caley’: We deserved our fairy tale. So good bye Butcher and your dreams;
Hail Hail

Mickybhoy1-Good news,Neil should consistently rubbish the lapdogs for printing pash, saying that probably not enough hours in the day.
Is anything being done before tomorrow’s game to mark the very sad events in Egypt this week?
I appreciate it is very far away geographically but no fan is an island.
The only time I look at the sun is when it’s shining above ma heid!
Beautiful sunny day in Lithgae, if a trifle on the cold side.
Our players need to learn how to tackle properly.Nah,it would just be great to see them make one or two tackles, full stop.
We are a top class footballing side, that goes without saying. But sometimes are players need to make a challenge every now and then, particularly against thug out-fits like the Butchers.
We need a team that will get stuck in, tomorrows game will be one by whoever wants it more and that team will have to win the physical battle.
So no Izzy, Sammi or Forrest.
A sadder and a wiser man
He rose the morrow morn.
Go raibh maith agat Amadeus…not.
Any Aussie Bhoys on CQN?
I’m trying to help my (less-than-IT-literate mate) book flights from Glasgow to Adelaide, returning home to Glasgow from Sydney, for 18 days in October.
I’ve managed to find £1034 on the Qantas site. He seems to think this is pretty decent. Does anyone know off the top of their head if this is good, or is there any point in shopping around further?
All the third-party booking sites (Expedia, Skyscanner, etc.) I’ve looked at seem to be simply offering the same Qantas flights at slightly higher prices, so I think this might be as good a deal as he’s going to get. I have no idea though.
Any help is appreciated.
ICT are unbeaten in 7 matches and have beaten Motherwell and Hearts in that run. Last defeat was the unlucky 1-2 at Ibrox 24th Dec.
We’ll need to be better than last week, especially defensively where Cha, Izzy and Mulgrew all had poor games. It will be cold and bleak and bumpy pitch wise.
Just so we get the game face on like.
I’d expect to see Cha retained as he is more physical and will stretch them. Same CBs – not sure if Izzy will be thrown in? Midfield will be Forrest, Brown, 67, Ledley – direct and combative. Stokes and 88 up top.
Get them prep’d Neil!

What’s the story with the scottish sun? i take it they are printing made up shite about Thommo, anyone care to enlighten me?
totally agree something should be done to draw attention to what happened in Egypt. Nobody should have to think about not making it home after going to a football match.
Horrible scenes on the news
Celtic’s on the ball again…on their way to make it ten.
Rangers Bye Bye.

We thought we could go up there and play 2 strikers in April, ultimately. it cost us the title.
They’ve bugun ti find a bit of form and are a dangerous animal for us on their own ground, MON, GS and Lenny can all vouch for that.
4-5-1 should be adopted and should steer us through to the next step towards the treble.

Number 148.
My league debut for Celtic was in October 1969 when we played Raith Rovers. Bobby Murdoch was sitting beside me and asked if I was nervous. “No” I replied. “Well” he said, “you are putting your boots on the wrong feet.” I looked down and he was right. Kenny Dalglish (Celtic won 7-1).
Has to be said, Horses for Courses.
We all agree we cant be lightweight against this mob 2moro,
Can see Ledley dropping into LB as opposed to shiftin young Adam across.
The question then is how do we play the midfield, el Capitaino has to start, along with big Vic, but does Ki go in? Does Cha play right wing? Will we see a surprise Charlie moved to the left wing with a new CB pairing?
Its going to be interesting.
Is Sammy up for this? Is Pawel? Is Pawel even fit??
On Sammi: He may be big and can put himself about, but he is not always the best when it comes to physical encounters, and you can guarantee that his shins have bulls-eyes on them when that lot see him.
Lizard King-Izzy looks a good month away from fitness to me mate.Mulgrew might go to LB,Wilson at CB and keep Ledley in MF.Could do with some extra height against this mob.
Kitalba
thats a good one about king kenny, mind you he probably would still have scored with his boots on the wrong feet!!!!

It will be a perfect game to start Kris Commons, we will be under pressure in midfield, his link play between forwards and midfielders will be crucial.

Afternoon Celts,

The ‘Head Bhun’ in waiting will have his team fired up. Then, we should be fired up as well, time to stretch the legs and and watch others choke on our dust…

kevinlasvegas, yes, we were outmuscled in the middle last time.
Celtic Mac, wise words.
Lennon n Mc….Mjallby, very true.
For what its worth, my team for tomorrow. Samaras in for his height. Mulgrew at LB (not too sure about this). Commons in and Forrest drops out as I don´t think it will be a pitch for much dribbling (again not too sure about this).
Foster
Matthews Rogue Maj Mulgrew
Brown Wanyama Ledley
Samaras Commons
Hooper or Stokes
Really looking forward to game tomorrow, its been a long week! Win tomorrow and on Wednesday and we have a great platform for the rest of the season.
Dundee United are 8/1 with Paddy Power.
Son of Gabriel
Ki is out injured for a few weeks, so it said on the official site yesterday, apparentloy hurt his thigh in the warm up against falkirk
which cuts down the midfield options for a few weeks
HT- I see what you are saying but Maloney and Commons started that day. When we play 1 up front, the support to the striker is very poor IMO.HH.

The term “Fenian” could not be termed as sectarian either considering the involvement of so many protestants in the beginning of the Fenian movement.
It’s all nonsense.
I think we will see Kris Commons start tomorrow, he could be just the Bhoy to undo the Highlanders..
Scottish Cup tie, so only 5 subs, 1 of which is a keeper.
Ki is injured I understand, so Ledley starts in midfield with Wanyama and Brown. I like that midfield as a tight 3.
Forrest plus Sammi or Commons either side. Hoops up top.
On the bench Commons or Sammi plus Stokes, leaving a midfielder and a defender required as cover.
Means no Brozek on view tomorrow.
Tough game, not least given our recent performances.

Personally I am more than happy to be referred as a “Fenian Bas*ard” my usual retort being yes Indeed I am and a wholly unrepentant one at that.
