LIAM SHAW has seen nine minutes of Premiership action at Celtic in his three years at Parkhead.
The defensive midfielder joined from Sheffield Wednesday for a £400,000 cross-border compensation fee in June 2021.
Shaw’s switch from Hillsborough to Parkhead had been agreed the previous February when Neil Lennon was still in charge at the Hoops.
The 23-year-old anchorman has made one start for the club and was a winner on that solitary occasion as Ange Postecoglou’s men enjoyed a 3-2 success over Real Betis in the Europa League encounter in the east end of Glasgow on December 9 2021.
WELCOME TO CELTIC…Liam Shaw poses with his new top in June 2021.
Coincidentally, Osaze Urhoghide, who had also left the Yorkshire club that summer, also made his first appearance at a kick-off that evening. The Dutchman left Glasgow a year ago for French second-tier outfit Amiens SC on a free transfer.
Shaw, with a year still to run on his Celtic contract, must wonder if he is about to suffer the same fate.
The 6ft-plus versatile performer, who can also play centre-back, came on as an 81st-minute substitute for Nir Bitton in a goalless draw with St Mirren in Paisley on December 22, just three days after Postecoglou had picked up his first piece of silverware as Celtic gaffer in the 2-1 League Cup triumph over Hibs at Hampden.
SOLITARY APPEARANCE…Liam Shaw in action in his only league outing for Celtic, the scoreless stalemate against St Mirren in Paisley in December 2021.
That remains his only kick at the ball in the Premiership for Celtic although he saw more action on loan at Motherwell in the second half of his debut campaign at the Hoops. He turned out eight times for the Fir Parkers including a 2-2 draw at Ibrox.
The middle-of-the-park operator was also moved in successive season-long loans to English third-tier clubs Morecambe and Wigan.
The Englishman is still under contract at the champions and there has been no news of any movement in this transfer window so far.
We have to ask the question: What’s the score with Liam Shaw?
