‘O’NEILL HAS LOST THE FIRE’

MARTIN O’NEILL has lost the desire that made him a Celtic managerial legend.
That’s the damning verdict of former Republic of Ireland midfielder Eamon Dunphy who has been far from impressed with O’Neill at international level.
Dunphy, now a leading pundit in his country, said: “The O’Neill of old had fire in his bellly, but I didn’t see that against Scotland.
“He will be disappointed with the job he has done with Ireland. He is a legendary figure in the history of Celtic Football Club, but what can he do from here with Ireland?
“It is a big concern for us.
“Realistically, we are out of this competition. There were some steps forward in the weekend game, but you look at the performance against Scotland in Glasgow and it was not good enough.”
O’Neill’s Irish side have dropped five points in the tussles with Gordon Strachan’s men, losing 1-0 at Parkhead followed by the 1-1 draw in Dublin.
