So many great performances, where to start? The left wing. Yang had a lot to do when Reo Hatate’s pitched cross dropped two yards beyond the far post. The outer edge of his right foot poked the ball beyond keeper Wellenreuther and Celtic were level. Yang has speed, the ability to get past a defender and is perhaps the best crosser among the multitude of wingers at the club, but he also has that innate sense of when to make a run.
What elevates forward players is often not their ability to shoot from within 8 yards of the goal (where the bulk of goals are scored), but how they unthinkingly find space to connect with the ball. Martin O’Neill knows a thing or two about footballers, listen to him on Yang:
“He does things that we can’t do. He can turn players he can beat players. He’s strong, and he can manoeuvre it. He can do all of those things. It’s just a matter of giving him confidence the whole way through.”
He arrived in Scotland in July 2023 having just turned 21 into an environment which sapped every ounce of confidence from him. Before Martin arrived in 2000, Celtic destroyed promising talent for decades – just like happened to Yang. Martin stopped the rot, which had again taken hold in recent seasons. You and I have a job to do to support this player.
Daizen Maeda had a typical Daizen Maeda game. He ran constantly and lost the ball frequently, but on two occasions, he timed forward runs which resulted in the second and third goals. Every goalkeeper in Scotland watches for his runs, Wellenreuther did not get the memo. The keeper’s waited too long for a pass to reach him and Daizen blocked the clearance.
Reo Hatate had even more to do than Yang when presented with his chance. The midfielder returned a fast moving ball with a first-time shot into the empty net. Anyone who has played football will tell you, putting the ball into an empty net is one of the hardest things in the game. Our players from Japan and Korea were simply too good for Feyenoord.
Arne Engels (22) joined the club as part of that much-maligned £32m spend in the summer of 2024. We paid significantly over the odds for a young player who was relegated to the bench in the early part of this season. He bossed the middle of the park last night and was a true leader.
Missing three defenders, at least two of whom would be first choices, Celtic were organised and effective at the back. Two left footed central defenders showed how ridiculous the myth was that they were not up to the task of playing at Tynecastle. Who knows what state the club would be in had Martin O’Neill not brought some sanity back to our game. Congratulations to all involved in a fabulous win.

Bill Hicks – It’s Just A Ride
https://youtu.be/KgzQuE1pR1w?si=WAzKFrayjG-CER11&t=21
The world is like a ride in an amusement park.
And when you choose to go on it you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are.
And the ride goes up and down and round and round.
It has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly colored and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while.
Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: “Is this real, or is this just a ride?”
And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say: “Hey, don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.”
… and we kill those people.
Ha ha,
“Shut him up.
We have a lot invested in this ride.
Shut him up.
Look at my furrows of worry.
Look at my big bank account and my family.
This just has to be real.”
It’s just a ride.
But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that?
And let the demons run amok.
But it doesn’t matter, because it’s just a ride.
And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice.
No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money.
A choice, right now, between fear and love.
The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off.
The eyes of love instead see all of us as ONE.
Here’s what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride.
Take all that money we spend on weapons and defense each year, and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we can explore space together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.
And then….

I’ve been taking some time to be distant
I’ve been taking some time to be still
I’ve been taking some time to be by myself
And I’ve spent half my life ill
But just as sure as the tide starts turning
Just as sure as the night has dawn
Just as sure as rainfall soon runs dry
When you stand in an eye of the storm
I was made to be tested and twisted
I was made to be broken and beat
I was made by His hand, it’s all part of His plan
That I stand on my own two feet
And you know me, my will is eternal
And you know me, you’ve met me before
Face-to-face with a beast, I will rise from the east
And I’ll settle on the ocean floor
And I go by many names also
Some people know me as “hope”
Some people know me as the voice that you hear
When you loosen the noose on the rope
And you know how I know that I’ll prosper?
‘Cause I stand here beside you today
I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain
And I didn’t once flinch or shake
So cower at the man I’ve become, when I sing from the top of my lungs
That I won’t retire, I’ll stand in your fire, inspire the weak to be strong
And when I am gone, I will rise in the music that I left behind
Ferocious, persistent, immortal like you, we’re a coin with two different sides
It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance
And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got
The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled
So I got older and I learned to relax
And I learned to soften and that dance got easier
It is this eternal dance that separates human beings
From angels, from demons, from gods
And I must not forget, we must not forget
That we are human beings……..

I have always disliked the Multi nome de plume persona IMO its cowardly, hiding in the shadows, it’s anti the true spirt of Celtic and far to often used for negative aggressive posting, however its Pauls biog, his rules
The Bible verse “Judge not, lest ye be judged” is from Matthew 7:1. The full passage continues in Matthew 7:1-5, explaining that the way you judge others will be the standard by which you are judged, and urges followers to examine their own faults first.

So many U20s breaking through at top elite clubs
FC Barcelona
Barcelona has a strong contingent of young talent from their youth system (La Masia) regularly featuring in the first team.
Lamine Yamal (Right Winger, 17) – Already an established first-team player and a key creative force for the club and the Spanish national team.
Pau Cubarsí (Centre-Back, 17) – Has quickly become a key player in central defence, earning significant playing time and international call-ups.
Gavi (Central Midfielder, 19) – A dynamic and experienced midfielder who is a mainstay in the team when fit.
Vitor Roque (Centre-Forward, 19) – A highly-rated Brazilian forward who joined the club in 2024.
Manchester United
Alejandro Garnacho (Winger, 19) – An exciting, direct winger who has become a regular starter and a significant goal threat.
Kobbie Mainoo (Defensive Midfielder, 19) – An impressive young midfielder who has established himself in the Manchester United and England senior teams.
Paris Saint-Germain
Warren Zaïre-Emery (Central Midfielder, 18) – A highly mature and physically imposing midfielder who is a regular starter for PSG and France.
Manchester City
Rico Lewis (Full-Back/Midfielder, 19) – A versatile player who is trusted by Pep Guardiola and sees rotational minutes in the first team squad.
Real Madrid
Endrick Felipe (Centre-Forward, 18) – The Brazilian prodigy joined Real Madrid after turning 18 and is an expected future star.
Arda Güler (Attacking Midfielder, 19) – A technically gifted Turkish international who is breaking into the squad.
Celtic IMO need to invest in broadening their search for young talent

Quadrophenian @ 11:04 pm,
Yes, hopefully the lad gets his move and thrives – I’m sure Wilfried Nancy will want to build his own squad.
Saint Stivs @ 12:21 am,
With all due respect, as I have no idea in what spirit it was intended, how could I take it as such?
We have exchanged many a comment through the years, I have used examples of real life experiences to back up my views/opinions.
For instance we discussed St Peter’s Church in Marlow where I atended mass with my family when you were at Henley.
If you can’t remember these discussions or can’t remember who you had them with then fair do’s but I’m hardly going to relate my life experiences and qualifications to you now am I?
On that note let me make a point…
You stated the collective asked a lot of questions, the answers to which could be found in the annual statement.
Now, you have an MBA, so an annual statement is something you should be able to read and understand.
However Celtic PLC encouraged a lot of supporters to become small shareholders and were happy to utilse their money to build the firm what it is today.
Likewise they encourage many supportets to buy season books, so they can garner cash at the beginning of the season/financial year which helps greatly with cash flow and the firm’s stability.
Likewise they encourage supporters to buy services (e.g. Celtic TV) and merchendise etc.
Many of these stakeholders may want to understand more about the Club and policies and strategies etc but don’t necessarily understand an annual statement or the gargon or the presentation of information
Cont/
So is it not reasonable that Celtic communicate this information in a much more user friendly way and even be much more open with the information they regard as “secret” for no good reason?
Have a good one.

Eurochamps67 RIP
It would be remarkable if it wasnt so bleeding obvious – give young men confidence and belief in their ability as individuals and as a group and they will perform better. What is remarkable is just how much better we’ve become in such a short space of time, which is a huge indictment of what came before.
Martins influence is as clear as day – the real difference between the two teams was the mentality that ours showed compared to Feyenoord. Van Persie might get it in time but you suspect what MON has cant be learned with experience.
But Shaun also deserves a mention. We made some very brave changes in tactics and in the line up and they worked – dropping Tounekti, playing McCowan on the wing. The high line at the back. We looked more solid in midfield but still carried a threat. Hatate is like a different player. The players have reacted so well to the new voice, an extremely positive sign ahead of new boss.

So how do you explain St Mirren game? Too simplistic for me I’m afraid however very pleased with Thursday
It’s interesting that the SFA appoint Beaton today as a referee as a reward for helping his club last week.
The calls at half time between the SFA and BBC to downplay the denial of a stonewall penalty were always doomed to failure.
Every reasonable pundit and Martindale basically described it as cheating without uttering the word. Jake Bothroyd rightly called for him to be sacked and nobody even in the darkest corners of BBC Scotland raised a peep. They know he should have been gone long before Muir was fired for cheating Celtic.
SFA recovery efforts with calls to Livingston chairman and the follow up of a pleading Beaton to fellow Ibrox die hard Martindale calmed the waters. If Livingston go down narrowly their chairman will know that Beaton will have been partially responsible.
The SFA have signalled that keeping Beaton in place is more important to them than having referees who the clubs believe are neutral. This not only disadvantages the clubs it damages other referees by association and the Scottish game as highlighted by Sky Sports.
Every sport has officials that to their best whether professional or amateur. As a rugby fan I believe the respect the players have for the officials is partially due to the integrity of the referees.
The SFA by keeping serial offender Beaton in place have failed miserably; it will come back to bite them as Beaton is unable to referee Celtic or Ibrox club without an agenda.
Beaton is finished as a referee even BBC Sportsound have given up on him. SFA will need to have a serious rethink because what comes next is entirely on them showing they are not fit for purpose.

Yang has certainly improved in his 2 1/2 years here, but is still some distance off the level we should be looking for. Development is one thing, but we can’t have players who are still wearing L plates 3 or 4 years in. He would do better at a club where he gets more game time and where you can get away with fluctuating performances.
Have to say, though, it was really pleasing to see a back post goal. Can hardly remember too many others this season. Last year we were scoring loads and even going back to the Abada days. He was the absolute master.
You need quality not projects to play in the final third and the key ingredients as we have seen and know are bravery and pace up top along with ability your front runners like we had proved this Kyogo ,Abada, Jota,Khun, Maeda ,to do it in Europe and cup finals and consistently.
Simple CSC
‘Peak Yang’ is a curious concept. He seems to over-promise in training, and under-deliver on the pitch. We’ve seen flashes of what he’s capable of but I don’t think we’ve seen much of what he gets up to on the training ground.
MON seems to have gotten something of a tune out of him lately but there’s a way to go to become a first choice attacker at Celtic.
I’d say he’s the next candidate for the Bobby Petta fellowship.
That’s a good thing because by many accounts, Wilfried Nancy is a developer of players.
There’sOnlyOneYangHyun-JunCSC
Good morning all.
I am first to admit I don’t know much about Wilfried Nancy . To be truthful, i hadn’theard of him until we were linked.
But hopefully our appointees have done their homework. From what information I have gleamed from the Internet, he must be regarded as a project.
Optimistically, a project that will produce dividends.
It is certainly a complete break from the past.

“The calls at half time between the SFA and BBC to downplay the denial of a stonewall penalty were always doomed to failure.”
What calls??
So with Martindale being placated by Beatons/theSfa,s phone call re the penalty , when will he take up the Scotland manager duties?
Phil cool it would need to be after World Cup due to his criminal record and 4 year jail sentence for large scale cocaine supply and money laundering
Hot smoked,
It was well documented in the media and named individuals.
Was Beaton involved directly or indirectly in an attempt to save his career ? Media clearly not going there.
The recovery operation to save Beaton started immediately after the penalty decision as it was slow blatant.
It takes an independent sky sports analyst to call it out and state he should be sacked.
It would be interesting if he seen a compilation of Beatons helping hand to the Ibrox club —- it would blow him away.
That lifting moment when you read the headline…
Dermot Desmond willing to sell his Celtic shares if the price is right
Then your heart sinks with the last 4 words…
Alan Bazil has heard
🤦♂️
On the Beaton thing …
Fairly standard practice for refs to do VAR one week then a game the following week.
There is a process in place to review errors.
It will be interesting to see what the review panel come back with on this one.
They’ve publicised a few 3-2 calls in the last year.
If this one comes out 5-0, Willie C will have an evidenced based mandate to score Beaton down.
BTW – that is “Down” not “Out”
If it does not come back 5-0 ? …
Can’t speak for anyone else …
… but I will personally infer that John Beaton still has friends in the right places.
So, Willie will need to tread steadily and carefully.

Aye, it’s one thing sacking Muir (?), Beaton however is on a different level.
Would send a message in one fell swoop though.
Tom- I don’t think he will sell even if he’s offered the value of them

ta m yes now i remember.
i will respond later , good points, well made and cap doffed.
Same old same old weeks of SMSM protest about Auston Trusty. This is a media problem in itself, a storm of protest that only gathers through their coverage, lifted nowadays from Social media.
John Beaton can’t call it against Rainjurz, he’s the Ibrokes in house go to guy, it’s a matter of fact.
The bigger problem is the SFA who appoint the small group of names to games. Willie Collum is a Kafflik villain as we are told and Kafflik perceived Clancy doesn’t get near Brokes.
No amount of officiating or even VAR can overcome a discriminatory organisation, Andrew four penalties drawing lines where he likes, gets a job for life, just adds to the mayhem of a penalty or offside one week, but not the next.
They think it’s not noticed when Russell Martin is flopping, play catch up on the league leaders and the SFA and John Beaton’s ramp up.
The big hoose must stay open courtesy of Kings Park.
Celtic”s win in Holland the other night probably our best performance since Leipzig and away in Italy against Lazio. Blessed Martin and St Shaun worked their magic with that team selection playing Luke McCowan, Yang and young Donovan was a masterstroke and they all excelled. Yang showed he could not be bullied when in possession and crowned his selection with a superb goal.
Reo displayed all his skills which he had been keeping under wraps in recent times twisting, turning, feinting passing and scoring, brilliant. Engels and Calmac adding to a great midfield performance.
Nygren, Toungeti, Ralston and young Murray a terrific bench to call in to help the tiring legs of the team with the Swede scoring a cracker. More of the same please from Martin, Shaun and the squad on Sunday.
I
forgot to mention Paulo Bernardo who made up our five subs with Nygren, Toungetti, Ralston and Murray.
Feck it. Going to throw Murderwell telly on and see if big Welsh can header in against the diets.
Motherwell up 1-0
