Operation Get Lawwell Out

837

When Tony Mowbray was in charge of Celtic the club wrote to the SFA regarding the standard of refereeing in Scotland almost on a weekly basis.  The outcome of this correspondence was not constructive, if anything, some at the Association hardened their stance.

A lot has subsequently happened.

Yesterday’s Sunday Mail referred back to Celtic’s dialogue with the SFA during Mowbray’s tenure, which I found interesting.  Soon after, when a referee was found to have lied to Neil Lennon (and his supervisor), the association were vulnerable.  Wounds opened at that time which have not healed.

The ‘paper suggested Peter Lawwell is “Driven, obsessively controlling, politically statute, manipulative.  A master of the dark arts.  There’s nothing he won’t do to get Celtic what they want.  No-one he won’t attempt to control to get it”.

Quite a character assassination.  I wonder what they’re worried about?

We are also told that our chief exec has “An over-arching influence on every facet of the Scottish game. He could have had a crack at sorting it for everyone.  But no. That wouldn’t have sold any season tickets, would it?”

Those of you who bought a season ticket on the back of Peter Lawwell’s letter must feel the club went to extraordinary lengths to win your business.  The article shared the fantasy many football fans have that Peter Lawwell being on the SFA board means Peter Lawwell controls the SFA.  He doesn’t, but he is a formidable advocate of reform.

So what are they worried about?  From my perspective, pretty much everything.  The old ways were liquidated, we’re living in times with only one Super Power.  The old ways are gone and they are never coming back.

Calls for Peter Lawwell to resign from the SFA board because he “wouldn’t recognise the greater good” are laughable.  Those who interpret subtext will know this reads ‘Lawwell is an animated asker of difficult questions’.

What started five years ago with DVDs arriving at Hampden showing Robbie Keane yards onside has gotten a whole lot more serious, and personal, judging by the sustained attack on our CEO.  If you think this is about Celtic writing a letter about a referee decision a week ago you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Never try to manipulate a master of the dark arts.

This year’s CQN Golf Open will be held on Friday 24 July at Aberdour Golf Club. This is our 11th annual event and looks set to be a cracker once again. We shall be raising funds for one of our nominated charities and there will be a number of fundraising activities both on the day and in the weeks leading up to the event.

Please keep an eye open for details. Cost for the golf day is £80 including the meal at night. There are a limited number of night time places for non-golfers, cost £45.

To apply for a place, please contact cqnopen15@gmx.co.uk

I only recall that Glasgow Cup game because I hitched it from London to Glasgow for the 69 Cup Final. 1 lift all the way from Edgeware to Ballater Street .Guy who gave me the lift ( and bought me lunch ) was a Deady Bears man going home for the Final.Convinced the Deady Bears would win not least because he had been at that Friday night Glasgow Cup game..He was in for a shock the day after !

Check out how utterly corrupt ICT were against the sheep on Saturday.

Could you imagine them missing those chances against us. Raven’s OG has to be seen to be believed. Hope they need something against us on the last day and we burst them.

*they also fielded a player who was allegedly suspended. I wonder if they had somehow contrived to win would the result have been overturned and the sheep awarded a 3-0 victory and the points.

They knew what they were doing, no friends of ours. As for the big Leith Hibee soup taker, he may have been a good player for us but so was the wee trackie seller.

Is he the Master of the Dark Arts who will manipulate anything and anyone in Scottish Football for the betterment of Celtic? (copyright SMSM)

    OR

Is he the Ancienne Firme loving SFA lickspittal who has singlehandedly emptied the top tier of Celtic Park during home games, because he sees that as a price worth paying for ingratiating himself with Ogilvie, Regan, Donacster & chums?

    Mmmmmm.

Is he the man who for years so loved being rogered by Deidco and the SFA on a weekly basis, that upon their demise he happily signed off on a secret five way agreement to parachute the same Deidco rogerers back into the SPL – regardless that Celtic had always paid their bills and had not cheated with secret players’ contracts?

    OR

Is he the man who has stuck two fingers up to the SFA “Armageddon” advocates and has implemented strategies that have moved Celtic towards being a stand alone club, and, who has produced a more profitable Celtic in the three years after the death of Deidco than in the three years before it? (copyright Barcabhoy and Paul 67)

    Mmmmmm

We covered a lot of ground in our Sicilian trip – our route by train was Catania, Etna tour, Taormina, Cefalu, Palermo and Agrigento.

The highlight was staying in a zero horse town in the interior, Racalmuto, where we were nearly treated as celebrities such was the absence of tourists there.

This was only 1 of 2 places that really felt Sicilian as opposed to generic Italian but the island does get a lot of tourists.

The other was a village on the slopes of Etna where the houses put wood outsider in honour of the local saint’s day coming up.

Anyway, hat doffed to you for making such a seamless adaptation to Sicilian life. We both thought it was a fantastic place to visit but could never see us living there.

  10. Waddell is clever enough to say that PL’s qualities are exactly what he would want of a CEO for his own club, that no one comes close to him in Scotland for those reasons. – someone driven to get the best for his team no matter what. He then qualifies that by saying the same qualities mean PL is conflicted when he sits on the Scottish board.

The one that would make me laugh if I was PL is to be described as a “Master of the Dark Arts”. They slammed PL last week for hinting at conspiracies yet the same paper suggests he is an evil sorcerer. Maybe Waddell has been re-reading his Harry Potter books and now sees PL as Voldermort. Question is, who then is Harry Potter? Dave King?

Paul doesn’t need to warn us about attacks on our board and CEO – we get plenty of them day and daily on this forum from a bunch of misinformed malcontents masquerading as real Celtic supporters – who long for a piece of the internecine strife that is now the norm at Ibrox.

We have, I am sorry to say, a minority who are not inside pissing out, nor outside pissing in; but are inside pissing in – unfortunately the majority gets splattered.

SNP have been in government/power for 7 years now, what evidence of a left wing direction of travel have you witnessed in that time?

I agree that the club could manage their communications with fans much better.

It is not enough to have JPT doing his (grand) stuff. Everyone who deals with the public at CP needs to be singing off the same song sheet. (calm down Focus)

Some are truly exceptional while others much less so,

All fans that walk through that door should be treated like it is the highlight of their year and no complacency should be evident in how they are treated.

  22. PL is as big a Tim as anyone on here he bleeds Celtic just like the rest of us and has a love for the club just like all of us, all you have to do is read the hate the Huns have for him and now also the SFA .

We are all Celtic supporters, but he is the main man right up there at the front taking them all on.

The only difference between PL and the rest of us is, he is an easy target, not just for Huns and the SFA, but for a few in here, and of course that’s there agenda, them and the lurking Huns in here.

    So lurking Huns girfuy.

Given the choice now, who would give Ronnie a 10 year contract? I think I would. Lots of questions to be answered, but I really appreciate what he is doing. He’s a fun guy!

I don’t think most managers have a long life span ( unless you can afford to buy the best players every season)

Nothing against Ronny but I think 5 years will be his limit and I think that’s the same for most managers.
