Operation Get Lawwell Out

837

When Tony Mowbray was in charge of Celtic the club wrote to the SFA regarding the standard of refereeing in Scotland almost on a weekly basis.  The outcome of this correspondence was not constructive, if anything, some at the Association hardened their stance.

A lot has subsequently happened.

Yesterday’s Sunday Mail referred back to Celtic’s dialogue with the SFA during Mowbray’s tenure, which I found interesting.  Soon after, when a referee was found to have lied to Neil Lennon (and his supervisor), the association were vulnerable.  Wounds opened at that time which have not healed.

The ‘paper suggested Peter Lawwell is “Driven, obsessively controlling, politically statute, manipulative.  A master of the dark arts.  There’s nothing he won’t do to get Celtic what they want.  No-one he won’t attempt to control to get it”.

Quite a character assassination.  I wonder what they’re worried about?

We are also told that our chief exec has “An over-arching influence on every facet of the Scottish game. He could have had a crack at sorting it for everyone.  But no. That wouldn’t have sold any season tickets, would it?”

Those of you who bought a season ticket on the back of Peter Lawwell’s letter must feel the club went to extraordinary lengths to win your business.  The article shared the fantasy many football fans have that Peter Lawwell being on the SFA board means Peter Lawwell controls the SFA.  He doesn’t, but he is a formidable advocate of reform.

So what are they worried about?  From my perspective, pretty much everything.  The old ways were liquidated, we’re living in times with only one Super Power.  The old ways are gone and they are never coming back.

Calls for Peter Lawwell to resign from the SFA board because he “wouldn’t recognise the greater good” are laughable.  Those who interpret subtext will know this reads ‘Lawwell is an animated asker of difficult questions’.

What started five years ago with DVDs arriving at Hampden showing Robbie Keane yards onside has gotten a whole lot more serious, and personal, judging by the sustained attack on our CEO.  If you think this is about Celtic writing a letter about a referee decision a week ago you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Never try to manipulate a master of the dark arts.

This year’s CQN Golf Open will be held on Friday 24 July at Aberdour Golf Club. This is our 11th annual event and looks set to be a cracker once again. We shall be raising funds for one of our nominated charities and there will be a number of fundraising activities both on the day and in the weeks leading up to the event.

Please keep an eye open for details. Cost for the golf day is £80 including the meal at night. There are a limited number of night time places for non-golfers, cost £45.

To apply for a place, please contact cqnopen15@gmx.co.uk

And you “KNOW” that PL was involved in the 5-way agreement because you were in the room when he said: “yup, that’ll do for me, and signed on the dotted line”?

I can only see two scenarios with respect to the 5way agreement …. either it was done with Celtic’s knowledge, or it wasn’t. If the former, we are compromised. If the latter, we were woefully and inexcusably played by a bunch of buffoons. Either way, it doesn’t reflect well on those running Celtic. But, as shareholders, we should know which one it is.

Didn’t read yesterday’s article in the Mail but I’m sure Tanner and McCann’s rewriting of the facts was egged on by it. Harry Enfield’s old sketch about women in 30’s Britain springs to mind when I think of the media’s view on Celtic.” Celtic, know your place.”

Hi mike, The 5 way agreement could have been done without any of the member clubs being involved. This was an SFA sponsored agreement and we all know how they do not keep anyone informed of their actions. They then would have approached the old SPL Board with the scenario of them joining as a new company, but as the same club, straight into the SPL. Celtic, as far as I can see, went against that idea, knowing the feelings of their own fans, and so did the vast majority of SPL Clubs. When it became abundantly clear that the SPL option was gone, the SFA then approached the SFL, who were far more agreeable at board level. Alas the Late T. Hutton put his head above the parapet and, well, the rest is history. To get back to my point. It is NOT a fact that Celtic were in favour or in the know re the 5 Way Agreement.

  10. ICT have lost all of their games against the sheep this year as well as rolling over to sevco in the league cup. Meanwhile they have managed to beat Celtic twice and draw with us once.

    Coincidence I think not.

  11. In their ‘triumphant’ return to Govan, the Lying King and Mini Murray stated rather arrogantly that they wanted to see Sevco lead the way in Scottish football and once again be in positions of power and influence. Perhaps this is the start of their campaign. Bless them.

  17. Anyway, while I’m here,I spoke to the SLO this morning about the description of Kris’ goal of the season in the News section article of the POTY awards as being scored against Rangers.

He was polite and listened to my concerns, but said basically that that is what they’re called in Scottish football.

When I pointed out that even they refer to themselves as The Rangers Football Club Limited on the Rangers International Football Club Plc website, and that most Celtic supporters I know don’t refer to them in the terms of the Newsroom staff, he said he would inform them about my call.

So far, there have been no changes to the article, and I doubt there will be.

It’s going to be a problem for me if they’re playing in the same division as us, masquerading as the same club, with its 143 year unbroken history, 5 stars representing titles they cheated us out of, costing Celtic 10s of millions of pounds in lost CL revenue, while supporters like me paid for the privilege.

At least back then I had the excuse of ignorance.

Now I know, this charade won’t get a penny from me, unless it is challenged by Celtic, including it’s official blessing by the SPFL on their website.

Strip out all the media rubbishing of Griffiths in his personal life – justified or not.

Look at his contribution to all the teams he has played for. There is a recurring theme of GOALS .Frankly that’s all that matters to me.Griffiths scores goals. He will always score goals. He is still very young and Celtic can get 5 good goal scoring years out of him. He just needs played every week. He is also the type to remain fit and available every week. He has the right on pitch attitude. Any additional striker should be bought around his game.

Why do the media have to lead your point of view at all?

I suspect that we will never know (until the 50 year rule kicks in) the real facts.

I disagree with one aspect of what you said at 16.08.

If it is a “secret” 5 way agreement, from whom was it kept a secret?

If Celtic were kept out of that loop, does that make our ignorance of it inexcusable?

Does it make it woeful on Celtic’s part?

    Really?

The whole thrust of what is happening today is because we are constantly marginalized by those in power at the SFA/SPL. The nature of all of that discriminatory behavior is that we are victims of a constant conspiracy, which by it’s very nature is secretive. For me, it is absolutely wrong to blame the victim for what is done to them.

It is obvious to us (and now the rest of the public courtesy of the SMSM) that forces within Scottish football have for years believed they had plausible deniability for screwing Celtic over, year after year. The deniability has been exposed by Celtic’s more aggressive response in recent years, and thus has no plausibility left at all.

The SFA and SPL are run on seedy political lines, with real decisions made behind closed doors in dark rooms. There is no transparency at all, yet they pretend that there is and brief morons in the media to spout rubbish to support that line. From appointments of non qualified Chief Executives without a selection process to the running of the Scotland international side (BarryRobsongate), from the Jorge Cadete scandal to the league extension for Deicdo scandal, from Dougiegate to Meekingsgate, the song is the same.

I don’t know why Ogilvie was re-elected unopposed last time, but no one knows better than Lawwell that Ogilvie is the real Master of the Dark Arts. We know that Celtic opposed the parachuting of Sevco into the SPL and supported Turnbull Hutton’s stance too. It is no coincidence (with all due respect to him now that he is gone) that Sandy Jardine stood in front of the cameras at Poundland and as good as vowed vengeance on those clubs who stood up against the “parachute plan” and any other SFA inspired scheme to save his beloved team. In addition to the media and the general public, he was also talking to the hun hordes who needed to have a focus for their frustration: he was also pleasing the new regime at Ayebrokes by deflecting attention away from the sleight of hand that passed for the rebirth of deidco.

If you are duped, then so be it. Being duped repeatedly is not easy to explain away. If you are outflanked during a conflict then you mark the cards of who is responsible and have a long memory.

I am sure that Peter Lawwell has his faults and that he may be a challenging man to work for, but when he is being vilified in the Scottish media, then I know that he is doing the very thing that the real dark forces do not want.

Only my opinion, but I suspect that Celtic’s opposition to many things connected to deidco/sevco was neutralized by the dark room mob, and that Celtic have never forgotten that. Our aggressive attitude to the SFA/SPL has in turn upset them, because we are no longer playing by the same rules that have kept us in our place for generations(as they see this).

I never thought that deidco were deid. I thought that whatever we say about old club/newclub was largely irrelevant, as their “culture” would still live on in some incarnation or another. Such has been the case, but the whole soap opera there is just fabulous.

The new world order gives them a terrible itch.

I just love getting under their skin.
