Operation relieve the gullible of £411 each underway

“My father wasn’t at all keen on me becoming a Rangers supporter.  He was a Glasgow policeman and because of that he resented the whole football scene in Glasgow.  ‘He was actually very anti-football.  When we were kids growing up he was very vocal on his dislike of the bigotry in football.  The police in Glasgow at that time saw it as a basis for thuggery.

“My father took me to that first game reluctantly…”

Dave King, shooting the breeze with the Daily Mail in March last year.

“Like all of you who read this letter, I have always taken pride in being a Rangers supporter. It is something I inherited from my father who, in turn, inherited the legacy from my grandfather. This is what Rangers fans do. We pass on our pride and belief in Rangers to our children.”

Dave King’s letter to the season ticket marketing database last week.

One of the two statements is probably true, although with Dave, who knows?  South African judge, Brian Southwood, referred to King as a “glib and shameless liar”.  Despite this, the SFA decided he was an appropriate person to run a football club, free to send out messages like this, with the objective of relieving fans of an average of £411 per person.  This is what happens when you enable people already branded a shameless liar, what do you expect?

I hope the SFA and Trading Standards are alerted to what’s going on, don’t leave it until it’s too late.

I’m waiting for new of the Ben Nevis Huddle, which should have taken place at the peak of the mountain in the last hour.  Over 80 people set out on the climb this morning to raise funds for the Celtic Foundation – to feed the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless and help others in need.

It’s a magnificent Celtic effort.  My wee brother’s up there, you can give his fundraising a pound or two here.  Thank you.

  3. Just seen my nephew in the crowd shot. A great Celtic Supporter, two of us were in Seville together. Ireland are not great but they are a lot better than they showed at Celtic Park. Hard to call, but I’ll have to plump for the Republic by a single goal. Lets hope there is a bit of enjoyable football to be seen.

free, enjoy the game lhads and lhassies.

  5. I am away to watch the match.

As a child of two Donegal born anad raised parents, I was allowed to develop a support for the Scotland football team, not shared by all my siblings.

Despite the reluctance with which some Scotland fans view my identity, I still want Scotland to win.

My prediction is, however, a narrow Irish win. Both teams struggle to be consistent over a qualifying campaign but I expect home advantage to be huge.

A drwa would be a result I’d celebrate.

  6. A lot of attacking talent in Scotland team.. Pity Ireland can’t say the same.

    Enjoy everyone

    God save Ireland ..please

Could you possibly explain why Strachan ‘ far ‘ better tactically than MON?

History being rewritten on here by some that MON basically a kick and rush merchant, amazingly I don’t remember fans disenchanted with the standard of football in MON’s tenure at CP.

Win or lose tonight, both will still be good football men and ex Celts tomorrow, but some unsubstantiated and disrespectful nonsense on here sometime

don’t know about yous but I really really enjoyed last season – ronny, gms, broonie’s couple of goals, Nir coming on leaps and bounds, craig gordon. I know we won competitive games well in the end but we were genuinely challenged at parts of the season. Only regret is jackie macnamara didn’t keep his gar players i tow – that would have given us an even bigger job

Got a doing on the blog yesterday. Fair enough.

Last night’s vodka might be affecting me but I can’t recognise half of the players. Two crap teams. I would rather see Poland in a major tournament.

All ROI pressure .. Wee sneaky goal for Scotland ..

To be fair .. Both sides are lacking clinical forwards.

First off, please don’t in any way refer to me as ‘Uncle Tom-esque’.

I’ve experienced anything and everything you want to cast up as ‘treatment’ due to my father, grandfather being fairly well known as ‘one of them’ in my hometown and also having a name that leaves it in no doubt as to what my background is…..

As for ‘thats what the racists say….’ Well…. I ain’t no racist and the shoe definitely fits this time mi amigo…. ;-)

You and others who continue to peddle this nonsense that we, as Irish diaspeirein are still up against some sort of ‘Pastor Jack Glass Ceiling’ in todays Scotland, do as much to hinder the country realising its potential than all the Dingwalls and Chris Grahams combined…..

Take a day aff for christ sake and smell the roses….

Martin O’Neill’s Celtic teams were direct but not route one.

    .

Having guys like Henrik, Chris Sutton and John Hartson, who were all good in the air, it was useful to get the ball up to them quick.

We also scored well worked goals on the deck, Liam Miller against Lyon and Jackie McNamara in a five nil win over Dundee United at Celtic Park are two examples.. Both goals were a result of good passing moves where more than twenty passes were involved.

All of us had our own opinions on our steam’s playing style under Martin but he gave us our pride back and improved our status in European football.
