Opportunity for statement win

226

If you are wondering, Kilmarnock are in far better form than Livingston, the only team below them in the league table.  They enjoyed a remarkable 4-3 win over St Mirren on Wednesday and battered Aberdeen 3-0 10 days earlier.  Between those two home wins was a 5-1 reversal at Ibrox, where despite conceding an early red card and penalty goal, they remained in the game until near the hour mark.  Neil McCann has turned fortunes around since his appointment last month and he will be motivated to make a mark against Celtic.

Our run of debutants coming on to score a crucial added time goal started on our first visit to Rugby Park this season.  Kelechi Iheanacho showed Junior Adamu and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain how it’s done by converting a 96th minute penalty.

Injury to Arne Engels leaves Celtic short of midfield options.  Reo Hatate looks low on confidence and form, Oxlade-Chamberlain is not fit for 90 minutes, which leaves Martin O’Neill to choose from Paulo Bernardo or Luke McCowan, neither of whom even made the bench on Wednesday.

Watch out for Sebastian Tounekti.  He dazzled in that drab win at Kilmarnock earlier this season and his persistent work has recently paid off, scoring or assisting three of our last four goals, each one absolutely crucial.  Rugby Park’s plastic suits a player who prefers to pick up the ball and run with it, rather than those who are better chasing a forward pass.

We have seven away games to play this season: Kilmarnock, Newco, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Dundee, and probably Hibs and Falkirk.  We have a great opportunity to record a statement win by picking up three points at Killie.  These players have shown they will dig deep when necessary.  A similar effort will be needed on Sunday.

The monopoly on discourse, long held by a few who treated these spaces as their personal pulpit, is finished.

In these enlightened times, we all agree that every voice should be heard, even if we don’t agree with them, that’s what the club is all about, after all.

There’s a great weekend of sport ahead.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched the huns in an SPFL game (except when playing Celtic, of course), but I may make an exception tomorrow.

Provided we take care of business, I can watch with indifference.

  3. If you find any kind of discourse that doesn’t fit your world view too difficult why don’t you just have a Whatsapp group where everyone can blow smoke up each other’s arses?

    I’d miss my stalker though.

  4. How would a subscription model stop what is seen as anti Celtic posts those inclined would still by a subscription, unless you mean you spend the money raised to employ content moderators working to pro board guidelines,in which case that is censorship

  5. Maolmuire O Muirgheasa on

They assume the peasants wouldn’t have the money to pay a subscription fee.

These are the type of people that you are dealing with here.

  6. Dessy, I think the problem is that anti board or anything critical of the board is seen as anti Celtic on here, where I would see wanting the best possible for the club as a positive message. But that’s just my opinion.

  7. If it would help in any way with your decision regarding subscriptions I would not take it up. I’m not interested in an echo chamber for older middle class tims. I can get that in the pub with my mates.

  8. DESSY – I’m guessing the thinking is that as much as trolls love the twisted nature of their own provocations, they might not love them enough to want to pay for the privilege of posting them.

I don’t think it’s a fundraiser to revisit the notions of content moderation – Paul shows he does a bit of that hissel’ when strictly reqd.

PS Went to see Victory v Roar tonight; Juan Mata’s passing and general tidiness is inspirational. Oor Reo should watch the old Juan or Dos Mata reels on YouTube. Gifted.

I think the problem is that anti board or anything critical of the board is seen as an attack on their yearly dividend.

  10. Evan Ferguson scored for Roma november 2025,his 1st goal in Serie A, and first Irishman to do so since who?

Beat Killie tomorrow and any result in the HUNS/huns game is a good one .

Lose to Killie and any result in the HUNS/huns game is a bad one .

The main problem with CQN becoming a subscription service would be Paul67s pro Celtic FC views. No sooner would some have signed up before they were trying to organise a bhoycott with the campaign slogan of…..

When long-standing and respected contributors such as Auldheid can post considered analysis and it’s either dismissed or drowned out, something isn’t right. The level of discourse has noticeably declined, and that diminishes what CQN has historically represented. ”

I agree. Seems to me that stupid people make stupid comments with more conviction than intelligent people display in intelligent comments.

    Cheerio for now.

What some call “considered analysis” is, in truth, a feint, a way of drawing the conversation toward a predetermined conclusion.

If people cannot see this, and instead direct their ire at those who point it out, it merely confirms that their opinions were never worth entertaining to begin with.

  17. Many of you prayed/hoped for the safe return of our family friend Fr Tata when he was kidnapped last year. Thankfully he was released unharmed and today has been in touch to say he has been appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bamenda by Pope Leo XIV. Wonderful news 🙏 🙏

  18. I would consider the Motherwell manager coming in with MON staying on as a Director of Football type,to help him bed in,or I would ask MON to stay on for next season

    Is in truth?

    Really?

Do you not mean “in my opinion”.

Stating that considered analysis is “in truth” etc is to point away from the considered analysis or were you not aware that you are doing what you accuse others of?
