Organisational indiscipline remains a concern

949

Yesterday’s win at Fir Park was huge for Celtic’s season but we should caution against talk of a corner being turned.  The team possessed the resilience (and Irish magician) to come from behind and beat the team who were second in the league, but we have been here before.

The Motherwell goal will cause Neil Lennon particular concern.  After losing a goal to an early corner kick against Rennes on Thursday, it seems impossible to believe that the team switched off at another corner kick, but only Beram Kayal was alert to the threat of Motherwell taking a short corner, and he was already covering a threat.

Organisational discipline is as important as having better players to the outcome of many football games.

  1. CELTIC are unlikely to face Sion again in the Europa League.

If CAS rule in favour of the Swiss club, a number of possible scenarios have been considered, including starting Group I from scratch.

But after meeting with Uefa, Sion believe they will be brought back in at the knock-out stage, with one tie becoming a group of three, the winner of which will progress to the last 16.

The coaching of children /adolescents in Italy —–

Largely based on the ideas of German sports academic Horst Wein ——-fun , train with the ball , zonal system , pass and move etc .

The Italian Football authorities have expressed great concern that Italian school teams / youth teams / amateur teams etc are regularly humped by teams made up of relatively un-coached immigrants from China / Bangladesh / The Balkans / The Horn of Africa and the Maghreb —

There ain’t much integration / multiculturalism in Italy.

Just a few things I have heard leads me putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 5.

I could be way, way out with my observations, and I think the outcome of the tax case will have a major bearing, assuming they lose the case, I believe a full scale assault on the relevant authorities will be swung into motion for our escape.

I heard something along the lines of escape being the preffered option [for all concerned] as oposed to court cases.

If Celtic make the knockout stage and end up in the group of three with Sion, it could mean an extra two European matches to make the last sixteen or possibly four if it’s home and away fixtures?

    Sounds sensible to me.

You don’t appear to be coaching tactics per se, but actually addressing the problem inherent when you watch children play football.

That is, they all run after the ball. No matter where the ball goes, they charge after it.

I wish somebody would introduce that method at Lennoxtown. How often do you see our man in possession isolated from his teammates?

  10. TET

God its painful to hear that. Jesus our kids still have adults either rollocking them or constantly telling them what to do. My son’s coach is progressive though – quiet. everyone gets a game, doesn’t matter if they win or lose, works on skills and strategy. The other teams – shouted at, a bit of effort gets rewards, ‘welly it son’ is often heard. England will never win anything while they have this culture and the EPl is full of money.

  11. Passing and moving is something our team lacks.

We are often told our players have no technique when the reality is they have few passing options.

The opposite is true of Barcelona when they have possession their player usually has a minimum of 3 options as they move in exprectation of pass.

They could be described as a proactive team while we are reactive.

Easy to see which one is more effective.

  12. EL

you are right there are a lot of failed football superstars out there with badges reliving the dream.

I am not one of them.

Kids DO enjoy structured play however so what is the harm in giving them a set of ‘rules’ to follow that allow them to enjoy their ‘game’ better and score more goals than their opposition.

Playing football should be fun but there is no fun in losing.

As I said the Spanish and Dutch have been doing it for years and is doing them no harm.

What have you got against trying to teach kids a better way of playing if the coaches are coaching properly.

What you are basically arguing for is a better MONITORING system.

    I would agree with that.

  14. Sun Tsu says “He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces. He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks. He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared. He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.”

  17. TET – Good tae see you posting amigo, i had a similar experience to you while watching the game on Sunday. My lovely wee daughter Clare couldn’t believe her “usually sane” dad was going completely mental and swearing at his computer:)

    ‘Kids DO enjoy structured play’

    Do they?

Is it not more likely is that the ones who turn up at a structured event, in a structured system, within a structured timetable, with all their structured gear, pying their structured fees are the ones who enjoy structured play and the ones who don’t, don’t?

Stamina work and football dont go and if you all let me expand I’ll tell you why…

Traditional thinking teaches us about the ‘fitness triangle’

At the base of the triangle we have a large AEROBIC BASE

The middle section of the triangle is the LACTIC ACID/KREBS CYCLE

The smallest section (teh peak) is your ANAEROBIC ZONE

Traditional thinking tells us if we increase the base of the triangle we SHOULD increase the other two areas.

    Right?

    WRONG!
