MATT O’RILEY has emerged as a £30million target for newly-promoted Leicester City.
Brendan Rodgers’ former club are about to test the champions’ resolve with a record-breaking offer for the stylish playmaker, according to a report in the Scottish Sun on Sunday.
Steve Cooper, new boss of the Midlands outfit, is urgently seeking a replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following the midfielder’s £30million move to Chelsea.
ROARING SUCCESS…Player of the Year Matt O’Riley has something to shout about after Celtic’s 2-1 league win over Rangers on May 11.
The same sum could be on its way to Parkhead for 23-year-old O’Riley who won multiple Player of the Year awards following a memorable campaign for the double winners.
The money will overcome the Hoops’ previous highest of £25million which they received for Kieran Tierney from Arsenal in August 2019 and Filipe Jota from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad a year ago.
O’Riley has also been linked with his former MK Dons boss Russell Martin at Southampton, West Ham and Brighton across the border as well as Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.
The La Liga club wanted to take the player on an initial loan in January with the promise of making the move permanent in the summer. The Parkhead powerbrokers had no difficulty rejecting the offer.
