CELTIC’S on-fire midfielder Matt O’Riley has been snubbed by Denmark for their forthcoming Euro 24 qualifiers this month.
The Hoops star had been tipped to step up to the senior squad of his adopted nation for the first time after turning out six times for their Under-21 side.
However, manager Kasper Hjulmand has overlooked the 22-year-old Londoner for his 23-man squad for the double-header against Kazakhstan and San Marino, as reported in the Scottish Sun.
PICK IT OUT…Matt O’Riley nets the stoppage-time winner against Motherwell at Fir Park.
O’Riley has been a key performer since joining the Hoops from third-tier MK Dons in January 2022 and he has added goalscoring to his attributes this season with five from nine games – including the stoppage-time winner against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.
Brendan Rodgers has kept Hjulmand up to date with the form of his player, but, amazingly, the smooth playmaker has not been deemed good enough to get into the pool of players which was confirmed today.
O’Riley, who was wanted by Leeds United and Bologna during the summer transfer window, signed a new four-year deal with the Parkhead club at the weekend.
He will take his place alongside Reo Hatate and captain Callum McGregor in the midfield against Lazio in the Champions League Group E encounter against Lazio at a sell-out Parkhead tomorrow night.
