MATT O’RILEY has been left OUT of the Denmark squad for the World Cup Finals that kick off in Qatar on Sunday.

The classy Celtic midfielder had an outside chance of getting the nod from head coach Kasper Hjulmand for the five remaining places for his 26-man squad which were revealed this morning.

Despite the Danish Under-21 anchorman showing superb form this season, he has been overlooked on this occasion.

A place in the showpiece competition in the Middle East would have completed an astonishing transformation in the fortunes of the player who was operating in the English third tier this time last year.

HIGH JINKS…Matt O’Riley has been in excellent form since his £1.5million switch to Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou paid a bargain £1.5million to MK Dons for the stylish performer in the January transfer window to bring him to Parkhead and he became a key player in the surge towards the club’s tenth title in 11 years.

O’Riley will now travel with his team-mates to Australia for the inaugural Sydney Super Cup where they will play the local team on Thursday morning and Everton three days later.

The Danes will kick off their campaign against Tunisia on Tuesday November 22.

The four Hoops stars who will be involved in the soccer extravaganza are Josip Juranovic (Croatia), Cameron Carter-Vickers (US), Aaron Mooy (Australia) and Daizen Maeda (Japan).
