Oscar Knox Paving Stone

1523

Last year at BMCUWP’s hootenanny in McChuills, many CQNers clubbed together and raised funds to buy something appropriate in memory of Wee Oscar. A fantastic amount was raised and we are delighted to announce a paving stone was purchased at very, very, favourable rates from Celtic, and now has its pride and place very close to the statue of Big Jock.

The tribute reads, Wee Oscar Knox, Heart of a lion, Courage of a champion.

Make sure you look out for it next time you are at Celtic Park.

Ireland were very poor last night …

    ………

    Absolutely dire p.

Shocking. One shot in the entire game.

Their midfield was powder puff with no creativity at all.

Keane should have started the game too before Walters.

Scotland were always comfortable I thought.

Why was Keane not playing ?

I asked that a few times last night but was ignored :-))

  3. Through the door this morning the regular circular from local msp John Mason in which he publishes a motion he raised at Holyrood condemning the evidence of sectarian, anti catholic and anti Irish disturbance during the referendum in Shettleston and other places.

He was fair enough to confirm the motion was also in the name of Siobhan McMahon Labour msp.

    Don’t recall seeing such remarks.

    Do you have an example?

  7. Absolutely brilliant tribute to an inspirational wee boy!

Anyone else read the following nonsense from Ewan Murray in The Gruniad?

“The pantomime villain here was Aiden McGeady. The Glasgow-born player’s decision to play for Ireland has long since been a bone of contention among Scotland fans and especially so on an occasion such as this. Those who point to sinister reasoning behind booing of McGeady might want to consider his treatment had he instead chosen to play for England”

Move along Timmy…nothing to see here!.

  8. Turkeybhoy,

Did you get a chance to read paolosboots comments about the trouble he experienced last night? And did it change your opinion of the amount of trouble there was last night?

    Jobo,

I’m not a runner but I have trained for long distance walks and I know the trepidation you can feel when going out for the first session after being injured or having had to abandon a run or walk.

Anyway, you’ll be relieved and happy no doubt. Onwards and upwards!

  10. Fantastic, Paul.

Neganon2- I don’t want to continue the same debate as last week but I said then and will say again I do not agree with you Scotland is institutionally anti-Catholic.

Aiden got it tight last night but why didn’t the other Catholic Irish players get it, McClean in particular would have been ripe for abuse for bigots.

Maybe it’s the same reason we all booed Maurice Johnston when he played for the deid team, i.e. he was seen as a traitor to the cause, but that did not make us anti-Catholic bigots, did it?

    At that I’ll leave it.

Great job, well done to BMCUW and all who attended his Hootenanny and made this memorial possible.

    I don’t know.

He should have started the game and if he ran out of steam then he could have been subbed.Imo of course.

Ireland have an awful lot of very limited players in their squad.

  13. Thanks for the paving stone. Oscar is forever our bhoy.

In our hearts. He is top of the most famous supporters liSt. Beats them all.

  16. This Ireland team that were so “Crap” last night, had won their first two games and drawn with the World champions.

  17. Surely we ain’t still fighting about the referendum ? Who started it, trolls ? Seems like the usual suspects are on the case too.

It’s done, we all know the result and until the General Election and England votes for

either the Conservative or a Tory/UKIP alliance, that’s it. We had our choice.

When we wake up after the election result we can reflect on our recent choice, nothing more.

  18. Ireland played poorly last night, yet could have got away with a draw but for one moment of magic by the classiest player on the pitch. In general the reports I have been getting from lads I know who travelled have been positive and they were certainly well received by the Celtic Support.

The entire game overshadowed by the tragic death of young Scottish Supporter, Prayers for him and his Family RIP.

  19. Photos don’t disprove a poster’s personal experience, shared here on the blog at 9.57, shortly before you posted.

However, that personal experience does contradict your statement that there wasn’t “an ounce of trouble” at the game. Have you had time to read it and does it alter your opinion on the amount of trouble there was last night?
