Oscar Knox Paving Stone

1523

Last year at BMCUWP’s hootenanny in McChuills, many CQNers clubbed together and raised funds to buy something appropriate in memory of Wee Oscar. A fantastic amount was raised and we are delighted to announce a paving stone was purchased at very, very, favourable rates from Celtic, and now has its pride and place very close to the statue of Big Jock.

The tribute reads, Wee Oscar Knox, Heart of a lion, Courage of a champion.

Make sure you look out for it next time you are at Celtic Park.

    Turkeybhoy,

Ireland had carried massive luck against Germany and Georgia and beat a pub team in the other game.

They are not a good team.Far from it.

You looking forward to the next Tory or Tory/UKIP government ?

You denied that in the build up to the referendum.

You personally, were canvassing for the Tories, you do realise that, don’t you ?

brought a tear to my eyes again, it puts a lot of things into

Lovely touch with the Oscar stone.

I was at the game last night in ‘neutral’ mode. Walked from city centre to Celtic Park and haven’t seen that much drinking and urinating in the street for years.

At the game in the North Stand at the front McGeady got it non stop from all sorts around me. Couldn’t repeat it here. In the 2nd half McClean got similar treatment due to not wearing a poppy. Two of these guys behind me were drinking cans of Stella in the 2nd row from the front. When Maloney scored a full can flew overhead from further back onto the pitch.

    Couple of observations:

Thought drinking in the street was against the law, as is urinating in the street, as is drinking at a football match and verbal abuse.

I felt sorry for the stewards in my area as they were intimidated and didn’t have any back up from the law.

Why is the law applied differently to the Tartan Army than it is to club supporters, not the first time I’ve noticed this.

  16. Former SNP leader Alex Salmond has said it would be “foolish” for his party to rule out entering into a coalition at Westminster.

During a BBC interview he made it clear it was “out of the question” that a deal could be done with the Conservative Party.

He went on to say: “I agree absolutely with what Nicola [Sturgeon] has said on the matter that any coalition succour or support for the Conservative Party is out of the question – why, because of their attitude towards Scotland; because of their track record; because you couldn’t trust them further than you could throw them.

“All of these things rule out a deal for the Conservative Party.”

    Thank you for replying.

It goes to show that just because you didn’t experience any trouble, it doesn’t mean therefore that was the case for everyone.

Knowing what you know now, would you still you post “Not an ounce of trouble between the fans”?

    Favourite uncle,

There are definite crosswires here mate.

My aunt Cissie’s surname wasn’t Allen.

I do indeed have relatives called Allen, but that was on my mum’s side.

Cissie was my dad’s sister.Sorry for the confusion.

  20. WRT Ernie Lynch; it may be the case that one of the people who post under that login is more anti-Scottish than the others and that the others haven’t realised yet.

I mentioned last night that your average team representing the Dog & Duck or whatever with a couple of blokes over 40, younger ones hungover, half of them with beer bellies and the other half putting out a fag on the pitch, could hold the World Champions to only 4-0. It would be more like 400-0.

Tremendous credit is due to the Gibraltar players though they were overshadowed by the Faeroes.

“A lot of trouble”.One guy on here said he saw some nutters .Going by what he witnessed,I would have no doubt they were of the loyalist hun persuasion.I can only go by what MY mates told me.Glasgow City Centre was a brilliant atmosphere, before and after the game.

How many arrests by the way?.

  23. Dharma,

Your idea of trouble and mine might be a tad different. If by trouble you mean, some assholes hurling abuse, then we see that every week. Our fans do it as well.Part of the package,I am afraid.

My idea of trouble is fighting, police having to move in,missiles hurled.Thats football trouble to me.

“loyalist hun persuasion”, at the Scotland game, nah can’t see it.

I will be honest with you,I dont think there are very many of the knuckledraggers who would be seen anywhere near a Scotland game. They detest Scotland team,The Tartan Army, etc. No doubt, because of who Scotland were playing, there would have been some exceptions made,in their warped minds.Try and get trouble with the Irish fans.

    OMO of course.

I reckon it was a Westminster conspiracy!

I spoke to him last week. He is disappointed at the result,of course. But he reckons this juggernaut will take some stopping.

He also reckons Labour in Scotland are FUBAR. I told him that in July. A ‘No’ vote, but close, would be the worst result for Labour. And the best for SNP.

  26. Your original statement was absolute; “not an ounce of trouble”.

Now it turns out it was only relative to what you consider as “trouble”.

Your idea of communicating effectively and mine might be a tad different, too.

  27. turkeybhoy-the number of arrests is irrelevant, how many were lifted at the Loyalist rally in George Square? MY mate posted there was prolonged fighting in the JS stand,i believe him.Why don’t you? Or is that the reason you come on here?
