Oscar Knox Paving Stone

1523

Last year at BMCUWP’s hootenanny in McChuills, many CQNers clubbed together and raised funds to buy something appropriate in memory of Wee Oscar. A fantastic amount was raised and we are delighted to announce a paving stone was purchased at very, very, favourable rates from Celtic, and now has its pride and place very close to the statue of Big Jock.

The tribute reads, Wee Oscar Knox, Heart of a lion, Courage of a champion.

Make sure you look out for it next time you are at Celtic Park.

“Ernie” the Scotland-hater must be sulking after he confidently predicted that the SNP would implode after the referendum.

I did not anticipate that Salmond would chuck it before the result was even formally announced, therby avoiding any criticism from within the party.

    Shrewd or cowardly?

    Perhaps both.

Still laugh every time I think of that action man post.

  4. i didnt see the game last night, the radio broadcast was from in amongst the scots fans. plenty of booing for mcgeady but as far as i heard there was no booing of the irish national anthem. can any confirm if i am correct in this or was the mic i was hearing it thru did not pick any anti irish bigotry during the anthem?

  5. A great tribute to a remarkable wee bhoy, to me it put life Into perspective reading how the wee man battled on, during a low time I was having to deal with losses with family and friends.

Hail Hail wee Oscar, a giant in my eyes.

They are looking for a Patsy.

Hopefully, more than Police Scotland will be involved.

  7. Was at my first Scotland game since Anfield 1977. Sat in section 413.

Had the misfortune to be sat alongside seven Dons based “tartan army” members. All spaced out by the way…..

The general viciousness aimed at wee Aiden sickened me. He was not a panto villain. This, for me, was as close to racist abuse as you will ever see.

Impressed with Scotland whereas the Irish clugged their way through the game.

Charlie was brilliant throughout and wee Shaun again showed what a good player he is

Finally, CP.What a venue. Truly showed Hampden up as the dump it is.

  8. What Alex Salmond did was what Obi-wan Kenobi did in Star Wars – by striking him down the unionists haven’t realized just how powerful he has become.

National anthem ell observed and respected. Flower do Scotland was shambolic and out of tune

  10. Greenyin………….there was no booing during anthem we only get that when playing England. Both anthem sung with great gusto.

  11. Instead of booing McGeady the Scotland fans should be booing the SFA.

It was the SFA who didn’t pick McGeady for Scottish Schoolboys team. Whereas Ireland did.

When it came time to choose whether to play full international for Scotland or Ireland, Aiden remained faithful to the country who selected him as a schoolboy.

It was the SFA who turned their back on Scotland, not the other way round.

Did have a laugh last night when Aiden fouled Andy Robertson. There was a wee handshake exchanged and I thought out loud that Andy could have said “what school did you go to?”

(They both went to the same school, St Ninians in East Ren)

  12. Fantastic tribute to wee Oscar – well done everyone involved.

Great result for Scotland last night. Disappointing tactics from MON who set out his stall to try not lose the game. They did their best to disrupt the Scotland game but just came up short. Also thought MON could have done better in the post match interview. To say his team largely controlled the game was nonsense.

WGS for me is the better coach. He has worked wonders with the players at his disposal while MON relies more on his back up team when it comes to coaching. The Irish will always fight for 90 minutes with Keane and MON on the sidelines but there was very little football skill shown.

Once again Aiden failed to shine in the big occasion. He got a lot of stick from the crowd, but that was to be expected and he should be big enough and experienced enough to block that out.

Most pleasing aspect of the game for me was Chico. Great all round performance. He showed a lot of composure when on the ball and worked his tail off. Hopefully he brings that form into our next game. Long way to go in the group, but Scotland are sitting well bearing in mind the teams around them have already met the groups whipping boys Gibralter. Scotland v. Poland could be the make or break game.

No that would be the England, that sent some of its sons over to Dublin to play football, accompanied by the vilest support,on a par with the huns, who attacked everyone Irish, tried to wreck the stadium, and had the match abandoned.

That would also be the England that sent Cromwell over to rape pillage, burn, and murder on a scale never before seen on that island.

That would be the England that waged cruel war on all of its nearest neighbours for 800 years, robbed raped and pillaged their lands.

That would be the England that, unashamedly starved Ireland almost to oblivion.

That would be the England that was the prime miscreant in the “Slave trade”

That would be the England who to this day are involved in illegal wars, and whos people glory in their countries deeds.

    That England.

  17. since the soldiers song was respectfully observed could it be the case that the booin of aiden was fitba realated and not as claimed was as a result of anti irish racsism? just askin like

    Greenyin,

There are enough witnessed events on here to refute that claim, more likely there were both, some simply booing the player because he choose Ireland and the media have made sure everyone were given their version, and others booing out of sectarian racist motives again media driven. It was a big crowd so it’s always going to happen.

The fact Aiden suffered vitriol all over Scotland before he left is why most people who believe its sectarian racism.

The next time anything like Dundee,or what was alleged to have happened,is reported,I will not expect any defence from yourself,or any other shrinking violets,on here.We were all up in arms about Amsterdam, without actually being there. Were ALL Celtic fans innocent?.

Thats football.Happens everywhere. Some morons always want to cause trouble. When it suits some, they are up in arms about it,when it does not, they are on the defensive.

I and I suppose many others have seen real football trouble. What happened last night, was not that.Neither was Dundee.

Oh I think your bang on there, because as far as the SMSM will be concerned they will be keeping the story at arms length, the Ibrokes PR guys will be in full lockdown, phone ins will be like, weellllll we can’t really comment on this subject as there is an investigation going on so for legal reasons we can’t comment on it, this is the only country in the world where the media say no comment, strange EH?

I read James Forrests article, it was brilliant and hit the nail on the head, and as he said lots of questions to be asked, but! And I hope I’m wrong here, I doubt if we will see any of the questions asked, as I said JF hit the nail on the head, but here in bonnie Scotland a smart arse Timmy asking pertenant questions is frowned upon, and those in the establishment bring out the Lord Nimmo Smith claw hammer, and ignore everything, we’ve all seen it many many times in the last ten years, and even before that, and you know what? They don’t give a feck either, I could list the previouses but the list is to long, anyway as I said I hope I’m wrong, but I won’t hold my breath.
