Osmand robbed

155

If was not so much news that Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers would not return to the team this season as a confirmation of what was already know. The bigger fitness story for Celtic is that Callum Osmand has had no further setbacks and is on track to return after four months recuperation.

Celtic are chronically short of attacking options, which Callum would augment.  The player also needs time on the field. He was robbed of a memorable season when injured on Europa League duty, a time when he could have made the starting striker role his own.  Let’s hope we see him soon.

  1. Morning AT.

Life is good, have some family coming over this Friday for a couple of weeks.

Have tickets for the Morocco game.

    HH!

Of course, as I’ve said any of these things could be nonsense for any number of reasons – lost in translation , a disgruntled individual – but apart from anything else it does feel that the number of those types of injury we have had this season goes to a level beyond any kind of statistical norm.

I don’t know if there is any way of actually checking that by reference to statistics from previous seasons or against the record of other teams but I’m pretty sure any seasoned Celtic watcher will feel this year is way worse than normal.

Really interesting point about AC Milan – I’d be disappointed ( but perhaps unsurprised ) if we didn’t do something similar.

I was fairly sure that I had read somewhere that DD had recently launched a full independent review of this season’s failings, presumably, to include injuries but I can find no reference to it anywhere online.

    Perhaps I dreamt it..!

  4. I think Callum Osmand should be learning his trade, as a modern CF, from an experienced CF, and then when ready, should become the No.1 striker. The reason that’s not happening is because we don’t have a continually fit experienced CF. We are now that desperate that we are willing to talk about a 20yr old coming in and becoming out 1st pick CF. Changed Days, Changed Days Indeed! por cierto

  5. Anyone hoping that a 20 year old with less than a handful of senior appearances to his name and one goal in senior football is gonna come in and save us is very much at the bargaining stage for this season.

I’m very much at the acceptance stage.

  6. F@ck you says Steve Clarke.

For your booing on Saturday I’m playing our next game in the football loving city of Liverpool.

A novel way to deal with traitorous ungrateful fans.

    HH.

  8. I still think we will win the league. Win all or our games from this weekend like in 1986

    Paul67,

What larks – Callum Osmand an injured bhoy, that scored a goal, and played in one league game.

If only we were a big club trying to compete

  10. The interview with CTV was bizarre. No one was talking about Jota or CCV coming back this season.

I’m sure most of us would have appreciated an update on Engels, AJ, Aurojo and Big Tam. We got told eff all about them.

    Good news Paul.

Not great news, but good news.

Against a backdrop of constant negativity … much of it real, slices of it engineered to undermine us .. I’ll welcome any good news

    Including Callum Osmand nearing fitness.

Great goal he scored in LC semi. Proper strikers goal.

    Just one thing Paul …

Checked my watch and my calendar

Couldn’t find “soon” etched on either.

    Anything more specific?

    Quarter past soon?

    Next Soonday?

    22nd of soon?

  12. WTF the game is full of young players their clubs couldnae haud back and progressed tae being first tem ready including goal scorers, now I am NOT saying young Callum is one of them but the likes of Duncan Edwards, Pele, George Best, that nutter gaza, even our own wee mhan, Paul McStay and Bobby Murdoch were, in fact when I spoke with one of my first heroes Paddy Crerand several years back about Bobby I said that of he hudnae have left for manure then we would NEVER have heard of Bobby, his response was “don’t be daft son if I hudnae have left you would never have heard of me as Bobby was that good”

The Athletic has reported that the average charge for a parking space at a World Cup match in the United States is now $175 (£133). Spaces for group-stage games at MetLife Stadium near New York cost $225 (£171).

Pinning our hopes on a 19 year old with <<200 mins of senior football, recovering from a serious injury shows how weak our squad is.

This is reinforced by 3/4 managers being unable to get a run of consistency from the available players.

While he may be a rookie. Callum has an energy and enthusiasm which captures the crowd. Bringing him on around 65 mins in a game that is drifting away from us could be a catalyst to lift the spirits and as they say get the crowd to "suck the ball into the net"

  19. Top players all over Europe 20 and under starring now for clubs and countries. No age limit on talent. This boy has great pedigree, been coached properly,we were so fortunate to get him.If fit, don’t hold him back.

Only problem is,the boy ,like Kyogo, has great movement,we starved Kyogo of the service he got when he first came.We need to change.Going by the regression back to the sideways passing last week, that’s a big ask.

  22. The level of misery Celtic seems to give people on this site is quite remarkable.

Personally I welcome the news that Osmand maybe back sometime soon.

As for the rest on here who are clearly all capable of owning Celtic and doing a better job than the current guy …… go figure why you are not ?

The answer is probably looking at you in the mirror.

The good news is you will likely have another whole summer of misery as we replicate the post Covid season. It really has been unfair that Celtic didn’t allow you all more misery by winning 9 or 13 trophies since including 2 other cup final appearances since then.

Still you can fill your boots now. How much better if it was you calling the shots eh.

  24. Stop asking players to run 5, 10, 15, miles per game and make the ball do the running.

Where do you think all of these hamstring issues are coming from?

And we learn Zero from week to week no matter who the manager is????

Being too precious is keeping tripping us up.

Street fighters don’t get knocked onto their erchies with the same punch every time, they know that if they don’t learn lessons it will be game over for them pretty soon.

Jose Mourinho has 5 European trophies because being a mug was not an option to him or his team, refuse to learn and players would be out the door.

Yet we had Peter Grant in our team every week for 14 years, winning 2 titles out of 14 is not legend status no matter what Celtic TV says.

And PG didn’t win one single midfield battle leaving that side of the game as well to the Maestro as PG stood next to him pointing where all of his team mates needed to take up position.

Only LOU MACARI said he needed to get a ball winner [replacing useless PG] in midfield and had his eye on an African player whom he intended to watch at the WCF’s in 1994 but the Fergus knife was already waiting for uppity LM.

An uppity JOCK STEIN dressing room educated LM was the last thing that slippery FM would have put up with, so the team was sacrificed by sacking LM and gifting the next 3 league titles, and all of that CL money at a time when we were trying to build an unneeded all seated stadium.

Mourinho has 5 European trophies because he did not care what precious pooches were saying about him.

Precious tippy tappy pooches who’ve namby pambied the game away from the working class fans.

All seated stadiums have created a society of easily mugged sheeple which is why politicians get away with stealing all of your money and pointing at an invisible bogey man to blame.

    Sad are the homes….

I rather enjoy being a Celtic man. I always will, like everyone on here. There is no misery.

  28. Tontine Tim,

While I do believe Bobby Murdoch is the best player I have had the pleasure to witness in a Celtic jersey, Paddy Crerand was a great player too. I think he was being a wee bit modest; after all wasn’t he the captain when Man U won the Big Cup the year after ourselves?

  30. Pining our hopes on a young lad with a handful of games and 1 goal….This is Celtic we are talking about…although maybe not the Celtic that we know…We have become a mere shadow of the Club that we were….and I think we will be in the shadow of another club from across the city for the foreseeable…

  31. BURNLEY78 on 31ST MARCH 2026 3:02 PM

An underwhelming retort from you to all of those on here simply observing that our current version of “good news” stories would barely register in days gone by. Paul67 is doing his best to fill column inches with something uplifting, and by any measure, our hopes of salvation in this phase of this particular season should never have been linked to this young man’s “potential”. Sad to see to where we have fallen.

I read many comments from posters who largely agree that this lad has “potential”, and I’m sure we all hope that he realizes that in full while at Celtic.

At the same time, can you not acknowledge that we are 3 transfer windows into not having a real striker, or even a backup striker, and that is the only reason why Callum Osmand is getting a mention.

No misery here, and no mirror required. I know who I am, and I know exactly what I’m complaining about. Those that run our club are not fit for purpose! This great club and its fans simply deserve better.

Another poster shared a short video on the last article which was filmed by Barca fans the night that we beat them 2-1 – “changed days”!
