I’m getting beside myself with annoyance at the emergence of blog and online distractions ahead of the most important game of the season. Darling-Salmond do not get my heart pounding, Henrik Larsson’s summer conversation with Celtic (he was asked if he was interested, he said he’s not ready, nothing more than that), and despite the need to sign players, they would be pointless if we don’t win tonight.
This is our Cup Final, our biggest game of the season by some margin. This game determines what pace our development project proceeds at, what players we can attract and who we can afford. For the season ahead, this is our α and Ω.
For the players, it is a joy. A gift. This is their chance to perform a task they are more than capable of in front of an appreciative crowd. For Ronny and Johnny, it is their first stake in the ground.
Don’t assume it will be straightforward. It could be a long night, we may lose the first goal, but it takes a brave team to leave Celtic Park with the spoils on a European night. We have to remain patient early on; Maribor will tire as the game progresses. The final 15 minutes should be Celtic’s most productive.
Enjoy the game.

Tallybhoy (12:28): “Craig Gordon struggling to be ready for tonight? Where is this coming from?”
His wife. He can’t find his Kiwi boot polish.
Surely he can just borrow some of his Polish team-mate’s polish?
The no Gordon rumour is…………..http://youtu.be/Ks4bD2RL3dM
I would prefer Craig Gordon but it won’t bother me if Zaluska plays. I think he’s a decent goalie and he’ll have my support. We outplayed this team in Maribor and I think we should have won 3-1. They should be doing all the worrying. If we have a full house then I’ll be confident.
COYBIG
Three options.
1. It’s true and he’s doubtful.
2. It’s usual Clyde rubbish.
3. The management have been watching Black Adder and have come up with a cunning plan to wrongfoot Maribor.

We take control of the ball as we did in the first leg. They gamble on the counter, but sitting in at Parkhead hasn’t worked for far far better sides than Maribor.
We score first, within a half hour, they crumble. The crowd make them hide. We win 3-0.
CL draw Thursday 16:45. Celtic pot 4, can’t wait.
Craig Gordon has improved at an astonishing rate since the rumour that he might not be available started!
Sandman. That would do fine for me. H.H.
Pauls opening line..

Within 5 minutes the blog is taken over by talk of Gordon struggling for tonight.
I dont think irony is the right word…
Seems to be a few nerves around about tonight.
We should have wont the 1st leg and if someone had said at the beginning of July, you have 1 game at a full Celtic Park with an away goal against Maribor to get to the group stages we would all have snapped their hand off. Their best chance was at home, small tight ground, fervent support but now they are moving into a different world. 60000 fans roaring their team on has made better players than Maribor have freeze, the atmosphere is electric and players who aren’t used to it cant cope with it.
Tonight the 12th man will be vital, tonight the noise level needs to be at its best and tonight we take our rightful place at Europe’s top table. No need for panic, we are better than them and over the piece we will show that.
I don’t understand the blog today.
It’s all Greek to me.
Craig Gordon savaged by Turbot shocker
Where else can you get the old heart racing , the belly fluttering and the nerves jangling but Paradise on a European night, and all at no extra cost to ST holders.
For those of you who take perverse pleasure in pointing out our shortcomings, and we have many, let the rest of us enjoy the build up to a massive match.
Try taking a bit of enjoyment out of being a Celtic fan/supporter. There were years in the 80s and 90s when nights like tonight were only a pipe dream. It is time for all of us to get behind the team and see what we can accomplish.
I was about to say that we are much ‘better together’ , but I believe that is another debate entirely :-)

Replied to you with the last post of the last thread!
I am a 1 finger typer = very slow….sorry!
I’ll belive the Craig Gordon story only after it has been confirmed by a reputable source…..
Bada the inside man bing.
“CL draw Thursday 16:45. Celtic pot 4, can’t wait.”
I would think The Negatrons are looking forward to that as well. It will provide them with their much desired opportunity to say how dreadful we are compared to the other three teams in our group. Those Clubs, will, of course , be run properly, have no unmanageable debt and always buy class players. Not sure why thes people support Celtic.

Isn’t the very pathetic ‘bombscare’ cliche reserved exclusively for Efe Ambrose…Oh wait he’s out of the side.
Forgot to say. Should be a cracker. Quote from TO when asked if it was selling g out ” let’s put it this way, there are no good seats left ”
I thought every seat at CP was a good un

Oh dear, sotty bout that .
Anyone know of a Celtic minded bar somewhere in central London showing the game? Can’t see anything central listed on Celticbars. I used to go to the Marquis on Shaftsbury but think it may be closed for refurbishment.
Any CQN’ers in London tonight and fancy a meet up for the match?

Celtic, with the crowd behind them, will be the alpha males in paradise tonight.
Maribor will be zapped by the gamma rays of the Celtic attack.

Mea culpa for my part in the earlier debate chat. I see you’re in full gung ho CL qualifier mode. I think we’ll do it.
CQN – Geek, Latin and Japanese all in the one blog. :-))
Er …… Geek should be Greek.
GM- I believe the CG story was on the Huddleboard before Snyde,so could be true. HH
Was quite happily eating my lunch when I read about Craig Gordon……nearly spewed it up !!!!!
Not just for tonights game……which is bad enough…….but for the future…..
Any body that thinks zaluska is a good keeper really does not no goalkeeping.
He can sometimes produce a decent save……..but his general positioning and basic handling skills are totally lacking……..stomach churning already today………it has now gone into overdrive………. please please say it ain’t so !!!!!!!

I posted yesterday Gordon should consider chucking that Scotland mob, he will be susceptible to niggly compensatory injuries.Concentrate on Celtic big guy.
It’s sunny in sunny Clydebank.
Is the guy across from me on the train a CQNer? Lhad with the grey just can’t get enough t shirt?
Who knows!
CQN. You bet.

There is a rumour that we are bringing in the Manchester Utd. second keeper on loan for 12 months.I dont know if this has anything to do with Craig Gordon or not. H.H.
Regarding the match….
Have rarely been so excited and nervous. No question this is the defining moment for the season. Get through and everything will be on a huge upswing. A CF and winger to arrive, Broonie and Forrest to come back, the young Man City CH bedded in, Tonev who we have still to see and most importantly a few precious weeks, with the pressure off, for RD to work with the squad and educate them on the way he wants us to play.
I’d rather not write what the alternative looks like if we do not go through.
I feel Celtic have more than enough to win this game. My concern is apprehension and nerves creeping into the players, if we know this is a big game, you had better believe the players know this too.
It could be a long night. Will take 0-0 right now though not sure my nerves will hold out.
