Our game in jeopardy. There are no words

548

Footballers may be our champions, but you probably have little idea the trouble that goes into getting some mundane, but not contracted, tasks completed.  There are exceptions, but the industry has a hierarchical system where the powerful (players) make sure their powerless colleagues (anyone else employed by the club who is not the coach or CEO) know their place in the food chain.  Even within the players group, the hierarchy is alive and well.

I have seen this with my own eyes going back as far as Martin O’Neill’s team and it can be brutal.  “Welcome to the club, son, now you better start acting like Beyonce”, seems to be how it goes.  We treat them like pampered superstars and they behave accordingly.  They certainly don’t need to worry about the people who ultimately pay their wages, because their wages are guaranteed, often for years.

Today, I feel resentment towards players as a group, which I know is unfair.  All the minor infractions I have been aware of over the years were brought to the surface by one major infraction.  That’s judging a group by the actions of a few, and we have names for that kind of thinking.  Better to remember Callum McGregor and Scott Brown reaching out to the dying.  Some players ‘get it’ and I am grateful for that.

The game in Scotland and Celtic’s European campaign is in jeopardy because of the actions of one Celtic player.  There are no words.  He can take a taxi back to the airport in two weeks.  Some others could do with a dose of humility, and learn to behave less like divas and more like respectful adults.

    LOL

I told you I dont bet.

I used to bet sports online but since my self ban I find it impossible to walk by the machines when I enter a bookies.

    Sad but true.

The only way I can control myself is to keep out altogether…therefore no fixed coupens for me.

Nothing worse than loosing all your weeks wages in 15 minutes…infact I lie…there is worse…losing your weeks wages and everything you have available in the bank in one hour!.

GAMBLING is the worst and although I have been better in recent years I have pressed the self destruct button as recently as 10 days ago!

Gambling is an addiction, a Gambler will only tell you storys about all the times they have won.

Gambling’s motivation is Greed, & Not being content with what one has financially.

Gambling is also a Trap, where Gamblers try to chase back the Money they have Lost.

You don’t see a poor Bookies Firm, Nor Casino the House always Wins in the End.

If I was you, I would give it a wide berth, & be satisfied with what one has available Financially.

There are other ways, to make extra cash without Gambling.

Gambling, is a Mugs Game. Trust Me, it’s sound advice.

Regards the use of swear words: Paul67 laid down very early on that we should refrain from the use of as children read the site. By and large, most people have respected that rule over the years.

    ———

The amusing thing (to me anyway) was being pulled up, and told to read the rules.

When I asked for a link to the rules, I was told they aint written down. That sounds a bit like a confused Fight Club :O)

  4. just stop the leagues until a vaccine is found – the game is a bogey! at any given time, a player can “deliberately” breach the rules to achieve the sturgeon red card!

  5. If Brendan Rodgers came back as manager and signed Mo Johnston to play up front in the next Glasgow derby we are still going to support Celtic in that fixture aint we?

  6. Evermore pressing need for some positive news on the transfer front. We’ve been dealt a big psychological blow. Time for Peter & Co. to deliver some (a lot actually) quality on the transfer front.

I know they will put almost everything on YouTube Nowdays.

However, YouTube can also be a useful tool, to learn new cash alternatives.

Like becoming a Hair Stylist & Opening up ones Saloon.

Or becoming a DigitalNomad, & Learning new Skills with the required Certificates.

So I would not knock it, YouTube proves, the World can become ones Oyster.

As regards too, making an alternative Living. It’s a World of Opportunities

Out There. So if you stick by, the sensible advice I have given you, then you

    will not go wrong.

  9. Neil was asked if he knew why Bolingoli went to Spain – he said he asked the question but wasn’t answered. Why would Boli not answer that question? Is it possible therefore, he was meeting another club and/or agents. Seems plausible and understandable why he wouldn’t want to disclose that.

He has made an almighty mistake and a selfish one at that – I’m waiting for his reaction to determine if he is sorry, devastated, or couldn’t care less. Don’t get wrapped up in the media circus – players are breaking the rules every night , every week with the same risk as boli flying in an out of Spain for one night – he could have been masking up and super careful versus players going to bars, parties and restaurants without protection.

Its this sort of inequality that makes us wonder…

  13. THE HUDDLE,

Paul67 used to be much more involved on CQN. Then he passed on responsibility for keeping the rules to the Moderators. They hardly ever appear now.

A while back, some took umbrage at getting carded and went off and set up another site altogether. Very occasionally, the odd one or two come back on here, which is to be welcomed.

New rules for penalties when an english team is playing .If an english player is taking a dubiously awarded penalty the opposition keeper will be handcuffed to a post of his choice.

  23. From the Inter Miami CF wwbsite, full of praise for Lewis Morgan:

Inter Miami Scottish midfielder Lewis Morgan has adapted quickly to his new surroundings as he enjoys his first season playing states-side. In his first handful of MLS appearances, the versatile wide midfielder has proved to be one of the Club’s major threats in attack; showcasing his ambidexterity, versatility, creativity, speed, and tireless work rate as he constantly seeks to open up spaces and create opportunities for his teammates.

Despite his youth, Morgan has enjoyed a successful career at the highest level thus far. The 23-year-old has already played in UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches, has donned the jersey of prestigious Scottish side Celtic FC, winning the 2019-20 Scottish League Cup title with the team, and has represented Scotland’s national team on the international level.

The Greenock, Scotland, native started his career among the youth ranks of Scottish teams Rangers FC and St Mirren FC. Morgan then went on to make his professional debut for St Mirren’s senior side at just 18 years old in a Scottish Premiership match against Celtic in September 2014.

In the next two seasons, Morgan appeared on the lineup sheet regularly, being deployed in different positions in both midfield and attack. His 11 goals and nine assists in 68 appearances between the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons didn’t go unnoticed, as he was called up to be a member of Scotland’s U-21 national team in 2017. Between 2017 and 2018 he played nine matches for his country’s U-21 side, recording two goals and two assists.

After his first couple of seasons as a professional footballer, Morgan made a breakthrough in the 2017-18 campaign. His stellar performances led to his signing with prestigious side Celtic FC, 51-time league winning club widely regarded as the most prestigious team in Scotland, halfway through the season in January 2018 before he was loaned back to St Mirren to allow him to help the team in their push to gain promotion back to the top flight. That season, Morgan was a leader in attack for St Mirren; racking up an impressive 18 goals and 13 assists across all competitions as the team won the 2017-18 Scottish Championship title and clinched promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. Overall, he played 118 matches as a St Mirren player; scoring 29 times and dishing out 23 assists before joining Celtic.

The 2017-18 season was a memorable one for Morgan on the international stage as well, as he made his debut for Scotland’s senior side with appearances in friendly matches against Peru and Mexico in June and July 2018.

Following his transfer, Morgan officially joined Celtic ahead of the 2018-19 season. He made 13 appearances, including playing one match in the qualifying stages for the Champions League and two Europa League matches, before being loaned out to EFL League One side Sunderland AFC for the second half of the season. Morgan finished off the campaign playing 22 games for Sunderland, where he scored the crucial goal that helped them reach the EFL Trophy final.

Upon returning to Celtic, Morgan won the 2019-20 Scottish League Cup and featured in 18 games, including six Champions League qualifying and two Europa League Qualifying matches, before crossing the Atlantic to begin a new chapter in North America. In total, during his spell at Celtic, he played 31 games, scoring twice and assisting three times.

On January 31, 2020, Inter Miami announced the addition of Morgan to the team’s roster ahead of the Club’s inaugural MLS season. The versatile midfielder has hit the ground running since his arrival to South Florida; dishing out the team’s historic first assist in the match against D.C. United on March 7, starting in Inter Miami’s five league matches to date, assisting two of the team’s three goals so far and being one of the team’s leaders on the offensive end. Morgan will look to keep up his productive performances throughout the remainder of the campaign to help the Club make history in the team’s first MLS season.
