Footballers may be our champions, but you probably have little idea the trouble that goes into getting some mundane, but not contracted, tasks completed. There are exceptions, but the industry has a hierarchical system where the powerful (players) make sure their powerless colleagues (anyone else employed by the club who is not the coach or CEO) know their place in the food chain. Even within the players group, the hierarchy is alive and well.
I have seen this with my own eyes going back as far as Martin O’Neill’s team and it can be brutal. “Welcome to the club, son, now you better start acting like Beyonce”, seems to be how it goes. We treat them like pampered superstars and they behave accordingly. They certainly don’t need to worry about the people who ultimately pay their wages, because their wages are guaranteed, often for years.
Today, I feel resentment towards players as a group, which I know is unfair. All the minor infractions I have been aware of over the years were brought to the surface by one major infraction. That’s judging a group by the actions of a few, and we have names for that kind of thinking. Better to remember Callum McGregor and Scott Brown reaching out to the dying. Some players ‘get it’ and I am grateful for that.
The game in Scotland and Celtic’s European campaign is in jeopardy because of the actions of one Celtic player. There are no words. He can take a taxi back to the airport in two weeks. Some others could do with a dose of humility, and learn to behave less like divas and more like respectful adults.

In defence of Celtic rather than Bolingoli, he went to a country that has clubs playing in UEFA competitions. At least one of those clubs have players who are positive. They are allowed to play as long as the those playing continue to test negative. Stopping Celtic playing is a political gesture, doubly so if we are stopped from playing in Europe.
Not excusing Bolingoli one iota, however all talk of a holiday for players is OTT. It was their weekend, same as you and me, as they were working on the prior Saturday (training) and Sunday (match day).
Neil Lennon has painted a bleak picture for Boli Bolingoli and admits he may never be welcomed back inside the Celtic dressing room.
‘It will be very difficult to imagine him (Bolingoli) being welcomed back into the dressing room in the future’
If Boli spent four days in Spain and none of his team mates knew he had been away it doesn’t say much for team morale or camaraderie, does it?

Which posters are “similar” to which others?
Do you not agree with the statistically backed statement that Celtic’s skill advantage is reduced on plastic pitches? Do you not agree that they should be banned? Are you dissimilar?
ROLLING_STONE on 11TH AUGUST 2020 1:43 PM
We’ve had posters blaming the pitch for our result at the weekend- it should be banned.
Similar posters are now blaming the government for taking a conservative approach to lockdown breaches- we have no positive cases etc why prevent us playing football…
There is a glaring lack of self reflection here. These are our issues, let’s not go blaming others. This is 10IAR we are talking about but you really wouldn’t know it from the way the club is handling things.
Nail, on head, firmly hit. Spot on!

It wasn’t 4 days it was 2.
All one word – try harder
Ernie
It would say a lot for the space-time continuum if Boli mnaged 4 days in Spain between our Hamilton match on the Sunday and our training resumption on Wednesday.
Do you think he caught an early morning Wednesday flight?
2 was 2 too many. That is painfully obvious.
In the event that we cannot fulfilled our CL fixture next Tuesday due to Government restrictions, we may have an out with the recently issued Special Rules regarding Champions League Covid issues affecting fixtures…
I.2 Testing and player eligibility
I.2.1 If one or more players or officials of a club test positive for COVID-19 in the tests required by the UEFA Return to Play Protocol, the match will take place as scheduled unless the national/local authorities of one or both clubs involved or of where the match will take place (in case of a neutral country) require a large group of players or the entire team to go into quarantine. If at least 13 players registered on the A list (including at least one goalkeeper) are available, the match must go ahead on the scheduled date. If less than 13 players registered on the A list or no registered goalkeeper are available, UEFA may allow a rescheduling of the match within the deadlines set out in paragraph I.3.1
in that a Q1 match could be rescheduled up to …
1.3.1 (ii) UCL Q1: 21 August 2020
… so next Friday as opposed to next Tuesday as it is scheduled currently. 2 1/2 pages of detailed regulations about this very situation we might find ourselves in.

Bournesouprecipe.
You are right.
As there were no rules about having to curtail the season and we know what happened there.
Are the people in charge on another planet? Surely if the government discussed this with the
clubs, penalties for rule infractions must have been raised.
BTW, Copenhagen proved last night that they are a good team. They deservedly beat Celtic, and those who think that should not happen are in something of a self-deluded and self-entitled bubble ( apologies for use of that word, but it certainly seems apt in the current circumstances).

I think the problem is, that in the face of unprecedented domestic dominance there is some folk who want to do a post-mortem of Celtic after any single setback.
Our sustained success has left some supporters out of touch. Unable to recognize that sometimes in sport it just isn’t your day. That sometimes luck is against you.
Celtic were poor against Kilmarnock and didn’t deserve anything more than a point. The plastic pitch is a competitive advantage to overcome but it can be. Kilmarnock’s performance was pretty impressive as well. They didn’t really make any mistakes that let us in.
We play Hamilton on plastic every year and beat them every year. The pitch is only one factor.

If Boli is going to break the rules and knows he is wrong doing why would he tell anyone ?
The mind does boggle as to his thinking.
Still, Celtic are no different from mst sporting organisations in that Bolingoli can be jettisoned without it affecting the club.
What would have happened had it been Eddy or McGregor ?
Boli Bolingoli is an employee of Celtic and the responsibility of the Club. His stupidity is clear and this grave situation now badly reflects on the Club.
I wonder whether others within the Club management structure will step forward and take some responsibility for allowing this situation to happen.
If there was a calculated and deliberate act by any club to bypass testing or quarantining misleading the authorities by not following the guidelines then you could argue the government could have a case to shut down a league, whose entire financial existence depended on being started up again sharpish.
But here we have an idiot with a passport, granted a few days off by the club, who have meticulously complied with Covid testing since March whilst paying for twice weekly tests, and made it very clear that professional advice was administered to all of our players.
Those willing to wade into Celtic will not be moved

So if we draw a Spanish team and our Government has a restriction on entering Spain, then Uefa’s new rules state that we have to forfeit the Tie ?

At the risk of being accused of Whataboutery , there was a more serious SMSM reported breach of Covid regulations before Aberdeen and Celtic.

BY THE END OF THE DAY CELTIC
I AM HAPPY TO DISCUSS THE MATTER WITH HIM AND WHY HIS CONTRACT IS BEING RIPPED UP
Neil’s press conference video is up – he doesn’t miss and is clearly beyond pissed with Boli…few more facts for us all to take in…
FU- no point in posting stuff, that could be idle gossip, and untrue.

`Those willing to wade into Celtic will not be moved`
Bolingoli`s actions were dreadful but I do think some are almost happy that it happened as it gives them a platform to attack Celtic.
Obviously, the majority on here are reacting with honest anger but I feel some are using the situation .
Cheerio for now.
TIMALOY29 @ 1:40 PM,
We had £40M in the bank and replaced Kieran Tierney with Bolingoli…
In what planet do you even start to explain that. I’m not being wise after the event I said so at the time.
We should have beaten Cluj, we should have beaten Kopenhagen… all we seem to get are excuses after excuses…
We need to be better from Chairman, through CEO, to non-exsistent Director of Football to left Back… thems the facts.

If you are the type of person who always moans about everything you will be right some of the time.
Last year’s summer window was a success. I honestly think it was the right decision to sell Tierney considering all his injury woes.
Boli has been a mistake on and off the pitch it happens.
Like I said, the money was there to be reinvested in the club in a number of ways. It’s helped us through a rainy day and hopefully there will be enough left to invest in the clubs infrastructure.
Atletico Madrid had 2 positive tests, and their European game is still on this week.
Scottish Government Update
During discussions this morning with the Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing a request was received – and subsequently agreed by the Joint Response Group – for the postponement of the following fixtures:
Wednesday 12 August
Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical
St Mirren v Celtic
Saturday 15 August
Aberdeen v Celtic
These matches have been postponed in light of ongoing restrictions in Aberdeen and today’s news of a breach of government public health guidance and football protocols involving the Celtic FC player, Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo.

Time to get a grip Celtic
The opportunity to berate Celtic for one nuggets actions must be irresistable to our enemies – they are lustily indulging.
Any commercial sanction will however be forensically scrutinised by our lawyers.
Where was the outrage and outpouring when the huns failed to follow Covid protocol. Heard nowt.
Deal with the nugget Celtic then deal with the tradtional enemy.
HHH.
Hhmm.
Unsettling day for sure.
Might be time to sit back, let the politicians and hacks (my least favourite toxic combo) yap away, and see what the landscape looks like in a couple of days.
Over to the club to come up with a plan, beaver away in the background to get the facts out there and quell this as much as possible.
I’ll leave this hypothetical out there
You are an elected leader of a country.
Your country is in the midst of a pandemic.
You brief daily (c. 100 days)
A guy who has NEVER attended your briefings (let’s call him Crass McLoggins) turns up at one.
Do you a) ignore him or b) invite him to ask a question?
