CHRIS McCAULEY’S raffle ticket was drawn out of the hat at the CQN Lisbon Lions event at the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club on Friday 26 May.
He had won the Lisbon Lions Celtic shirt, the last one signed by Tommy Gemmell and now signed by numerous Lisbon Lions and also Celtic legend Paul McStay.
We contacted Chris with the good news. He got back straight away, saying he had just arrived in Spain for a holiday and would collect his prize when he returned.
He was absolutely delighted to win this shirt as he had a family connection to our Lisbon promotion that featured our 2017 take on the very famous Jock Stein t-shirt, that was designed by this supporter in May 1967.
“It was my mum’s cousin Jimmy that had the Jock Stein t-shirt on in Lisbon, but you’d managed to track him down (kudos for managing that by the way).
“I really enjoyed the interview article with him, it was like being wee and hearing the family Celtic stories again.
“So I’m delighted to have something truly special that can be passed on in the family, along with the stories and memories.
“If i remember correctly the Maestro has signed the strip as well?
“He was my idol growing up and his testimonial was my first Celtic game.
“So it’s a bit extra special for me (just when you think there can’t be any more emotion after last week!)
“Thanks very much again, can’t wait to see ithe strip and keep up the good work with the site.”
Today Chris popped into The Penalty Spot to collect his prize, which was now framed and looked spectacular.
Here he is looking delighted:
His Uncle Jimmy’s great interview with CQN – we tracked him down in Vietnam of all places is HERE. If you haven’t read it please check it out as it’s a great read.
Jimmy promised to that he’d send us a photograph of him wearing CQN’s version of his Jock Stein t-shirt when it arrived in Vietnam and he sent this through a few days ago:
There were ten runners up prizes and they all have been sent out and are hopefully being enjoyed. We have had numerous requests for the Jock Stein t-shirts that were worn in the recent events, including the ones in Lisbon, with great pride:
Next week we have a limited number of these Jock Stein t-shirts – which had completely sold out – coming back into stock. They are now fully endorsed by the 1967 creator Jimmy who is wearing his with pride – he is still playing football btw!
Our Jock Stein t-shirt was also endorsed by the Stein family with Jock’s son and grandson delighted to have their own shirts to wear. They contacted CQN with this wonderful message which you can read HERE.
You can order your official Jock Stein t-shirt from CQN Bookstore now.
