One of Adidas’ World Cup sponsor properties was to name and present Player and Goalkeeper of the Tournament. What could go wrong? Dragging the Adidas-sponsored and clearly embarrassed Lionel Messi up the stairs to receive his award looked contrived. Despite reaching the final and, at last, building a World Cup goals tally worthy of comment (5 across 3 tournaments), Leo wasn’t even Argentina’s best player.
These awards are subjective, so there are no right or wrong decisions, but this one brought Adidas derision.
Delighted for Germany. The demographics are moving against European football but the continental game has never been as strong.

I also get very frustrated about midfield tippy tappy ,having been weaned on fast flowing attacking football where the ball is played in front of players to run on to.
Howevah………We have to work with the best players we have.

Liam is available for selection for tomorrow.
It’s also highly unlikely he will be banned domestically as his red was the result of two yellows and not violent conduct.
Saying that, the SFA are full of interesting applications of various rules and guidelines these days so don’t rule out a Sutton type six game ban if it becomes apparent he will be a regular first team player vital to our success.

Celtic have a lot more fans now, primarily because of the fans, IMO. They may not live close by but they are fans. I must admit, I’m very uncomfortable with Celtic going Global and paying silly money for players and paying those players silly wages, when people are being forced to use foodbanks. The exponential rate of players salaries is shocking but I suppose, Celtic players would follow the Celtic ethos and give more, when the salries were higher. You would hope for that in an Ideal World.

I have been following the stories about your mum for some months now, you and she seem to be very close, and I love the wonderful feelings that closeness brings.
I was truly sorry and upset to read of her passing, it is something that you really never ever get over.
I lost my mum in March this year, and I still cannot get used to her not being there, she was 91, she would have been 92 on June 21st.
P67 and my other son Kevin lost their mum when she was only 51, and their loss was immense, at least you and I had our mums for 40 more years.
That is, at least, some sort of consolation.
I will pray for your mum and you and your family, as well as following the stories about your mum, I also follow the stories about your farm and its many animals and the pleasure they bring to so many CQNers.
