Despite their mid-season status, KR Reykjavik should offer little genuine challenge to Celtic’s squad of Champions League experienced professionals. Still, the nerves tingle a little seeing a new management team lead the squad out of Glasgow Airport this morning.
Hopefully we have six qualifying games ahead. Where we sit right now, chances of qualification are high, but far from assured. There is a lot of work ahead.
It will be fantastic to see Martin O’Neill back at Celtic Park to lead Ireland against Scotland in the nations’ Euro 2016 qualifier. Seeing the traditional away side of the stadium covered in green, while Scotland fans occupy the bulk of the stadium, will provide an interesting photo opportunity. Apart from the ‘doe a dear’ lot, it’s likely to be a wall-to wall Celtic fan event. Good to see Roy Keane back too. In the away dug-out.
Hosting Scotland-England a few days later will cement the stadium’s position as a major event venue after a year of unique opportunities.
One of Adidas’ World Cup sponsor properties was to name and present Player and Goalkeeper of the Tournament. What could go wrong? Dragging the Adidas-sponsored and clearly embarrassed Lionel Messi up the stairs to receive his award looked contrived. Despite reaching the final and, at last, building a World Cup goals tally worthy of comment (5 across 3 tournaments), Leo wasn’t even Argentina’s best player.
These awards are subjective, so there are no right or wrong decisions, but this one brought Adidas derision.
Delighted for Germany. The demographics are moving against European football but the continental game has never been as strong.
Many thanks to everyone who bid on the auction or bought a raffle ticket for the signed canvasses last week. The raffle raised £604 and was won by CQN legend, Kolnbhoy. Funds from both canvasses are going to Glasgow the Caring City and The Cookie Jar Foundation.

Feeling a bit nervous just now about the season ahead. So much at stake so early on, new management team , will they cope with the pressures , will the players adapt to and accept the changes ? No new faces yet and we have lost our captain, and a there is a darkness approaching , a year away but it’s coming
Don’t mean to sound downbeat just want to get started and see where we stand.
GM
“Is that wasp (soft a) away?”
“Naw, it’s vanilla!”
Looks like it’s just me feeling nervous.
Really looking forward to our first competitive match of the season. On paper, we should win easily, but we all know that games aren’t played on paper.
COYBIG!

Your list of “recommendations” is all very well, but we live in the real world and we need more than a wish list. For me, the board’s only major error has been its failure to support our fans in the face of attacks from the media and so called anti sectarian legislation. Had our custodians treated the GB issue more sensibly and had done more to prevent the criminalisation of a number of fans, there would have been far less friction between the support and the board.
You say Res. 12 is pash. I think it could be vital.

I am sure at the start of a new season every supporter of every team looks forward to it we all believe or hope our team can do better than the previous season. We know as the first ball is kicked we are still in every competition we have entered wither your Ayr United or Glasgow Celtic it is an exciting time. H.H.

Ps
If I get to the end of this seasons journey and feel a little disappointed in certain points of the trip that to me is what it is being a fan, but I just cant comprehend in my big daft heid anyone setting out on the seasons journey on a downer .
C’mon the Hoops
Its not hard to spot the real Celtic men on here vs. the confused hun interlopers.
The post from leftclick at 10.49 quite clearly falls into the former category whereas every utterance from TSD reeks of the latter.
I suppose we should be thankful that TSD does not darken the gates of Paradise the way he does these pages.

tradionalist 88, Agree with your last 2 posts.
borgo67 You are not alone. Count me in as a member of the nervous Club.
Good to here most people are upbeat ( nervous isn’t downbeat )

Get your chin up pal!!
I’ve got a good feeling about the management team and the young(ish) squad.
Looking forward to tonight’s game and canny wait to see the team Ronny picks.
More interesting could be the bench picks.
Brown a big miss, but Forrest misses loads of games, so we are well used to that one.
In any event I do hope we strengthen the squad with at least a couple of players capable of playing in the first team (not prospects) before too long.
Anyway, hope you are well my friend and give my regards to the usual suspects!!

Good post. You have singlehandedly lifted me out of my morning gloom.
It was more to do with things at work than anything to do with Celtic .
Shivers and fluttering already, it’s going to be a long day. Good luck to the Management and team for the season ahead.
Looking forward to see who makes the team tonight.
Let’s all get behind the Bhoys for the season ahead whilst keeping one eye on the going’s on within our club and the rest of Scottish football.
Is it 8pm kick off tonight?
EddieinKirkmichael
Aye.
cheers philbhoy
It’s been a rubbish morning at work but really looking forward to the game.
Hope you and the youngster are well. Saw your tribute to your dad the other day , lovely stuff.

Also buzzin. That close season yesterday was murder.
Fairly confident about this tie, but the remaining qualifiers are most likely to be tricky. Will be very disappointed if we fail to make group stages, but, I won’t panic if that happens, RnJ must be given time to implement the plan and get us playing like Celts should.

I read his post to you last night.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Anyone can register to post here – huns like him take advantage and try to change the narrative.
They despise everything to do with Celtic, from how we started to the heights we have scaled to the fact we are the pre-eminent club in Scotland today – a club steeped in Irish heritage, heirtage that defines us.
We are not all Irish of course but the Irish heritage defines OUR club.
You don’t meet the likes of TSD following Celtic because they are not Celtic men, its that simple.
Keep the faith!

Wee one not well this week though nothing serious.
Moping about the house but getting pampered by her Mum and Dad!
Off to Spain next week so she will be fine by then I’m sure!
Take care.
Can anyone confirm title flag day is 16th Ag v UTD and an early K.O.?
I want to try to get a ticket for young acgr who has been with me through thick and thin over the years but who due to his da being a tightwad no longer has a season book.
Wee Alfedo at Coia’s is flying his flag at half mast:_)

At what stage in the the CL qualifying rounds will we drop into the Europa League if we lose, please.
(Not that it’s likely to happen!)
All about opinions lads…
But Kojo and Cowie Bhoy….. what you are saying is, you don’t want our player of the year (Commons) or our 2nd Top Goal Scorer (Stokes) in the team..??
Certainly would seem a strange choice to most, let alone me.
Philboy
KOd this round out of Europe
KOd next round EL qualifying round
KOd CL qualifying round, EL group stage
philbhoy
Sure she will be buzzing next week .
Hope you all enjoy the break.
Gary67
Thanks!
Borgo67
Cheers!
Draw for next round of CL qualifying is this Friday apparently.
3-0 win tonight and we can get booked up:)
HH
Kojo is right about Stokes.
Every time the ball goes to Stokes, the play breaks doon.
As for his goals ratio, I would have a high ratio as well given
the opposition we play against, except for Morton of course.
Been mostly lurking but now we are for the off
The team last year had its heart ripped out for the AGM balance sheet and was not strengthen
We watched as 2 domestic cups were lost due to the lack of midfield and striking options
In Europe we were a middle table Europa league team getting gubbed at the big table (CL)
I fear Ronny is a yes man to PL
The lack of new blood is scary to say the least our captain is now out and don’t care what anybody says, Craig Gordon was brought in to make the balance sheet transfer of Foster easier to take
Fear for it
ST
Good lad,Ronny.
Fight our corner.

That’s first home game and it’s a 12:45 KO mate.
2 schools of thought….. u go with the tried and tested… something lennon would probably of done… which would of been Stokes and Commons..
Or refreshingly, maybe Ronny will opt for a forward 3 of Pukki, Commons, + Griffiths..
who knows…. all i would say, is there isn’t much difference between our forwards. All have there individual qualities, granted…. but for me they are all 6 out of 10 rank strikers. There or there abouts
Looking forward to the match tonight.
Hopefully Celtic win otherwise this place will be beyond unbearable.
Shame on you macjay, for kissing the feet of TSD not long after another of his racist slurs on Celtic supporters.
He is a fully paid up member of the famine is over brigade.
Morning all.
Well the ‘proper’ fitba starts tonight in a ground with a capacity of about 3000(?).
Cannae wait.
2-0 or 3-0 the Hoops is my confident(!) prediction.
HH!!
Not only Celtic but Arsenal and Sunderland saw something special in Tony Stokes.
Yes he can be infuriating, too frequently he’s caught offside and without doubt he needs to improve his work rate, but he has many attributes.
My hopes for him this season is his application begins to match his ability.
Absolute farce of a competition, Monaco go straight into the group stages with a UEFA coefficient of 11.300, Celtic have to play 6 matches with a Coefficient of 36.813,
http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2015/accesslist/listofparticipants/index.html#201415+list+participants
Stokes is a squad man for me(a good one at that) but lacks a bit of presence and the intelligence/cuteness to be a top level CL player – many players that lack blistering pace make up for it in other ways by taking up excellent positions or having some other string to their bow – Stokesy lacks a bit but remains an extremely useful player to have around.
Maybe some unfulfilled potential too…

My post was not aimed at you my friend or anyone else who is nervous about The Celtic.
It’s a standing joke that i’m riddled with them when it comes to The Celtic.
What will be will be though, go in filled with hope then you are only disappointedat the end of the journey and not all the way through :))
Enjoy the journey and I hope thing are good with your work. Y.N.W.A.
Off to doctors to maybe discover if the have miracuoulsy employed someone who can take blood without jagging you half to death:))))

——-
We battered Morton and in another night we could have scored a barra load, it was nothing to do with lack of options in the middle or up front.
Against Aberdeen Neil Lennon picked the wrong team.
He played with two ‘wingers’ leaving us with 2 central players up against Aberdeen’s 3/4 in midfield.
His tactics cost us that day not a lack of options.
