Our redoubtable former manager

1226

No one on Celtic Quick News ever doubted Gordon Strachan, did they?

It’s been a long 8 years since that dark week but our former manager demonstrated enormous resilience to win three consecutive league titles and twice qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.  He is perfect for the Scotland role, although, to be frank, I didn’t think his squad had last night’s result in them.  Well done to all.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

You can choose from two cards, see explanation and choices here, one with Tony Watt after scoring against some Spanish lot, the other with Billy McNeill receiving some trophy or other.

Click on the button below, enter the text you would like to appear in the middle of the card, and Tony will post your book off in time for Father’s Day.

    Rangers are dead

Last year before they died, posters on here accused the Celtic board of actively trying to save them (because they were silent)

To me it seemed certain posters were frothing at the mouth in rage at celtic silence

Well Rangers died despite Celtics silence so in my humble opinion the frothing at the mouth was unjustified

Jude, if I didn’t know he was in Vegas, I would swear it was my mate who stays in Montreal just across from the track.

  3. On earlier thread Love ST

We had no chance in weeks leading up to Love St Hearts seemed unstoppable.

But remember a couple of weeks to go in season a now dead club(not that one) Clydebank who had won something like 7 points all season somehow got a draw at Swinecastle

That for me was a “I believe ” moment

ps I was at Love St

    The wilder beasts!

As they make their journey across the dessert they get picked off by the predators and vultres.

That is the way the huns now see themselves.

    Long may it continue. :-))

  5. What is the stars I am not accusing the board of being in cahoots. However can you explain the silence? You see I could understand the silence when it was all about the Hun collapse but the story has taken on a different slant now and it’ directly impacts celtic.

  6. TET – no I’m saying that previously we were all aware that they shouldn’t have had a license but while we all suspected they were in cahoots most decisions that were being made at SFA etc were seemingly being made in isolation albeit favouring Rangers / The Rangers.

It’s only now with documentary evidence coming to light that it’s so much more than what we previously thought. I think the board are now in a position to take action where previously they might not have been.

Personally I would like to see the Celtic Board be more proactive in trying “reform” (if thats possible) the SFA

I think Celtic played a good hand last year when the admin/liquidation/get us back into SPL fiasco was being conducted

I am sure they will play a good hand this time also

“I never have a point and I’m always at fault.”

When have I ever said that?

We have disagreed on many issues before – so what? It’s not a big deal.

But at no point have I ever said you are at fault for anything – you are giving an opinion, as I am – no more no less.

    —–

“There was nothing in my previous post that implicated you are in anyway responsible”

    “Defensive ?

“Is that another way of deflecting the blame”

What does that mean then? Who is trying to deflect anything?

It’s clear you are very passionate about the issue – so trying to allay your fears to someone at Celtic Park is hardly a ‘ridiculous suggestion’. If you don’t want to do that fair enough.

    ———-

“Are you a paid representative of the board?”

No. like you – I am a Celtic supporter who posts on this blog.

  9. CRC, hope wee Caityrollercoaster enjoyed her day.

Cases packed, and ready to go.

Was going to try a week without CQN – that’s been cancelled :-)

Hail Hail to the CQN family

  10. weeminger

    Thanks for clearing that up.

And do you expect them to ask questions ?

I do, and their silence will only serve to divide the support even more.

Accepted they are in a sticky position, unless they are working a ticket, they have no choice but to act IMO.

    What is the Stars

Celtic don’t need to comment on the latest bombshell. They must wait till the time is right. The MSN would have a field day by blaming Celtic for all that is wrong in Scottish football if they started to shout their mouths off. It would deflect from the vomit on to us. By the way they are hanging themselves anyway. When the time is right and for maximum impact Celtic will come forward.

    Keep the Faith

  12. What is the Stars on

    Croybhoy

    Agreed

I cant understand the clamour for Celtic to do something

  13. Wits,

DD told us they were a great club with a great history, then told the Celtic support they had no right to question him.

The Celtic board could and still can request UEFA investigate governance irregularities, yet nothing.

It’s only you that keeps bringing up the extinct club, no one else, we have moved on, we are wanting to know why Celtic shareholders have not had our interests protected by those legally responsible.

The club have been defrauded out of millions, for many small share holders that means their chance it improver their stake in the club and others lost dividends because those legally responsible sat in silence while the market we operate is illegally fixed, that is the fundamental premise.

You trying to turn it into an us and them argument with a bit of denigration poured on any dissenters only detracts from a very pertinent and serious discussion, ya fud :oD))

    Sorry couldn’t stop myself :oD)))

  14. TET – I think any notion that they’ll sue the sfa is a flight of fancy but at the very least I’d expect a comment this time, if not greater action.

  15. A week without CQN, nutter!

One reason for the silence of the Celtic Board, maybe proof!

I know all about Charlotte, but that isn’t going to be admissible anywhere, yet.

    Knowing isn’t proof of anything.

I also said last night, I hope/ think the Board are working the Clubs ticket out of Scotland.

Why waste energy fixing an Association you are planning to leave.

I have no evidence for this, just an opinion.

  16. Tet.

All of us know how the cabal works.

No matter what the board says upfront they will get slated.

Sometimes it’s best to sit back and watch.hh

You are my favourite person for arguing with

You are a bit of staffordshire terrier or staffs as we used to call them back in the day when I was a proud member of the working class (of course one mixes in higher circles these those old chum)

But I digress, you are a like a staff with a bone (you never let go or give up) and I admire you for that

But this quote of yours is bonkers…..

It’s only you that keeps bringing up the extinct club, no one else, we have moved on,

Jesus this forum us obsessed with the dead club

    Bloody hell

Anyway if I could insert a smiley face I would

  18. Auldheid 21.12

Just how imminent and realistic do you think an opportunity will arise for Celtic to ” jump leagues” .

Also what league do you realistically think would want Celtic?

    TT

  19. Wits you don’t appear to have answered my question. Do you prefer simply to ridicule others?

  20. What is the Stars on

    Neganon

    here is my answer

    Neganon

I think people who accuse the Celtic board of being in cahoots with the SFA/Rangers because they are silent on the current issues are mad/bonkers/silly/not right in the head

I dont really care about the scottish media so their silence means nothing to me,I would rarely beleive anything they print regarding celtic or the deadclub

Rangers and dead and the new club will probably follow them

  21. Wits,

They never played a hand, they done nothing, they sat on their hand, for crying out loud mhan, they sat back and done exactly the square root of zilch and that is what really gets to me, so many actually think they some how played a blinder because they done zero, they done exactly what no good mhan should do in the face of injustice and got praised for it.

That cognitive dissonance rears its ugly head again, the only strategy I can see them being successful at was treating the Celtic shareholders like mugs, instead of protecting their interests against market fixing they allowed greater corruption to be perpetrated in the market we operate in, simply because they refused to carry out their legal responsibilities without fear or favour.

I’ll say it again, Gregory Loannidis told us any UEFA affiliated club can request investigation into governance irregularities, the Celtic board were/are responsible to ensure the shareholders interests are protected, they reneged on that responsibility and that cost every shareholder and the club. Why is not a question you should direct at me, it needs to be directed at those responsible for our loss of earnings.

  22. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/

jude bud, i watch a lot of youth football at 16s/17s due to particpation on my own nephews,

i enjoy your wee shares of how your own josh is performing, one of mines is also called josh.

    obviously with the celtic connection.

keep sharing and keep it lit.

  23. TinyTim, no inside info, but the Club isn’t sitting on its hands.

I don’t believe they will be complicit and I don’t believe they will be actively helping the SFA.

I believe the Clubs Board will be looking to protect the interests of the Club.

I can’t see how we can stay in the Association we are in and do that, given they are only interested in helping dead clubs and their ghastly reincarnations.

As I say, just an opinion. Time will tell.

  24. TinyTim

I have no idea of timescale but there are clear advantages for Scottish football and The Rangers eventually in a Scottish league without Celtic. Greater competition bringing up gates and The Rangers not consigned to be perpetual bridesmaids rather than brides because we are so much financially stronger.

As to who would have us one of the English divisions would welcome the boost to their league and their income from having Celtic in it.( A bit like SFL were delighted to welcome The Rangers.)

  25. i quite enjoyed the reporting on the news there of Derry city of culture ceremony today,

for sure the parade was better than any OO effort.

anyone there today ? or any views ?

We both know that they won’t be suing anyone.

I agree sometimes silence is called for, sometimes we should be shouting from the rooftops.

Who in their right mind gives a toss what the media say ?

Oh dear, big bad Celtic are saying nasty things about the queens eleven, who cares? seems like many on here do……

Feck them, feck them all, they hate us anyways, always have, always will.

    HH

  27. doc..,

If what you say is true then maybe you can also come up with a reason why they have not requested investigation into governance irregularities ?

Or why James Forrest advised us two years ago that the club will not be seeking legal recourse to recover lost earnings, I mean can you imagine any other Plc being allowed to neglect its legal responsibilities to its shareholders

  28. Good evening Auldheid.

Why should an English club be pushed aside in order for us to join their league? Celtic are not going to England because we are not needed or desired. There is no evidence to suggest we could ever go there.

    Just read your post.

If we were in their trench that thems have found themselves in. we would have been wiped off the map.

The problem we face is a corrupt organisation, that seems to be secular with their attitude towards a corrupt club?

    Why?

Think we all know the answer.
