Celtic stars Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney, Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths are all likely to start. All season these 6 Celts and their team-mates have being drawing inspiration from the exploits of the Lisbon Lions and now the Scotland goalie Craig Gordon reckons that the Lions can continue to inspire today.

Speaking ahead of the must win match Gordon said: “It has been mentioned by the Celtic boys. There have been a lot of references to the Lisbon Lions and 1967. Scotland beat England that year as well. If we can replicate that it would be a nice way to finish the season.

“The Celtic goalkeeper also played in that game. It would be nice to draw parallels with that. It would be a good thing to finish it off in the same way.

“The number of Celtic players in the Scotland squad brings that kind of club element to the national team.

“Everyone knows what is expected. When one guy goes to press the other guy knows what position he should be in. Even on the ball it helps.

“Subconsciously, you know where your team mate is going to be. You need as many partnerships as you can get in there. I am sure that understanding is going to help the team as a whole.”

Scotland beat the then World Cup Winners England 3-2 in 1967, making Scotland unofficial World Champions!
