Infection rate sources were released from the clutches of politicians and given to the public yesterday (for England, from 9-15 Nov.). Supermarkets: 18.3%, schools, 22.8%, hospitals: 3.6%, care homes: 2.8%….. pubs, restaurants, cafes and hospitality combined: 4.1%
The list took account for every sector that recorded 1% of the total, there was not a single outdoor activity noted. The nations’ sports fields have been busy, taxis, buses and trains have been in use, without troubling the total. Churches did not get a mention, either.
Outdoor activities are not the problem. Distanced and monitored football attendance can open safely after 11 December.

For those of you who have had the joy of watching this year’s Celtic Christmas Video you can vote for your 3 best actors to me at CQNPOTY@GMAIL.COM but you must do so before 9pm tonight (Friday) as I then need to get the systems organised for tomorrow’s game against Hibs.

Paul 67,
The figures in Scotland will replicate PHE figures.
There is absolutely no reason for continued prohibition and draconian victimisation of our small businesses and hospitality.
There is even less justification for banning outdoor events.
As for fit young men who play football in a bubble , like Osbourne Edouard. He has circa 99.944% chance of not succumbing to the virus. Pretty decent odds by any measure.
Ernie : Football grounds are definitely outdoor. Common sense tells us that.
HH to all , and COYBIG tomorrow.
‘Tis (nearly) the season to be jolly and communicative and unfortunately for me Mrs Emeraldbee has TWO sisters in Australia who she likes to ‘phone. Anyone with any suggestion of cheap ways to ‘phone Oz from the UK?
Ave Ave
Emeraldbee, do they have smart phones?
If they do I would advise wattsap. I don’t do social media myself but this is a great way to video call and telephone. Always assuming they also have access to data.

We are talking about football stadiums, not football grounds. They are not the same thing.
And not for nothing has common sense been described as the metaphysic of the barbarian.
Christmas video very well done.
NOTTACLUE, thanks, I should have been clearer and stated that it has to be via landline. The sisters over there don’t do ‘modern techie stuff, telephones should be black things you pick up when they go dring dring’ sort of idea. My better half would be happy Skyping or Zooming but to no avail.

Even Bertie Russell didn’t believe hismelf when he said that.
“Admittedly, what Russell says in Our Knowledge of the External World does amount to the idea that concerning the nature of reality, in this instance “common sense is the metaphysics of savages” – but he does not claim that all common sense beliefs should, by their very nature, be immediately ruled out of court as intellectually primitive. Common sense may at least supply a starting point.
In his political campaigns, Russell was prepared to present himself as the spokesman of common sense. And in his philosophical work, Russell may not have been quite as dismissive of common sense as the famous ‘quotation’ would have us believe.”
I prefer old Tom Paine
“Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not yet sufficiently fashionable to procure them general Favor; a long Habit of not thinking a Thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defence of Custom. But the Tumult soon subsides. Time makes more Converts than Reason. “

£15.00 to Hibernian for PPV?
That is the question CSC
—————-
BSR – Done it earlier.
It’s better than a dodgy stream, £15 well spent. Although like everyone else I wonder if we are the only away club to continuously get charged.

Ernie,
For a varity of reasons ; There are many outdoor areas when smoking is banned.
Outdoor hospital car parks for one.
Because you are not allowed to smoke, doesn’t make it indoors.

Bang on – great post by the way. Was brought up in the West coast of Scotland, now living on the East coast, a good week for my Da was 2 late nights and a Saturday morning, he was made up when his overtime request was confirmed equally most upset / stay out of his road if there was no overtime.
At the time I remember thinking wow – this is what makes you happy! Was determined to avoid the same fate and thankfully I did. Very lucky to have been born in the 50s so when the oil industry came along I was the right age to jump in.
Emeraldbee
get her to phone from work from a spare desk with an outside line
i used to do that in the 90s while courting my Dublin based future wife!!
Lots of Irish 5p bits kept appearing in peoples change from the vending machines as well. Weird

And thanks for helping an old guy reconnect with his younger self.
The band from Lanarkshire that I saw in 1978/79 & enjoyed so much was known then as Ryan Express & the current variant is known as Nightfly. They still gig when the Covid protocols permit.
Here’s an older lineup from 2012 doing Don’t Take Me Alive.

Audience seems to have some folk who wouldn’t know Steely Dan from Desperate Dan though…

I was lucky to leave school in the late sixties and started work in the civil service as a trainee computer programmer. I worked in ‘computing’ then reclassified as IT. Retired after 42 years and experienced the development of computing from giant mainframes through micro computers to hand-helds, light pens and barcodes, web stuff and Apps.
far too much Scotland talk during Lenny’s Celtic press talk imo.

aye, i was filling up myself, there is something so special about the Celtic christmas advert, I think whoever produces these really gets what it means to us, and a special mention for Neil, his melodic voice, like the great irish poets (well no quite, but wonderful all the same).

I went back to critique the acting as per Jobos request for nominations ,,,,,,,,,,,,,
but it got me all tingly again, so i decided to see if i could find all the words online, i didnt ….. yet

with only one change in direction required,
when the bhoys get to the shop and they open the curtain to “go on the lash ”
I would have changed it to a nice orange rope ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and rewrote to

CONEYBHOY, you are naughty!!
But ……………… we’re both retired so no work phone.
Reminds me of a wee story from my workplace in Paisley a few years ago. As a secondary school we had guest foreign teachers and one year there were a couple of Egyptians working with us. At the end of the quarter the wee heidie went ballistic when the ‘phone bill for hundreds of pounds came in. Turns out that (at that time) you could take out the internal plug from the schools in-house system and put it into the BT outside ‘phone. The guys denied all knowledge of course, but the international code for the calls was a bit of a giveaway.

behind the scenes, i found it funny funny, had me tittering away, bertie again, he could have been a hollywood star

Providing you (and whoever you are calling) use the Internet and a smart phone, you can use the app called WhatsApp. This will allow you to call, text or video call for absolutely nothing. You could also use the likes of Skype or even Zoom (which has become all the rage for family meetings during the pandemic). Again, these are free.
Sorry for cutting and pasting too much😊. Only replying to the Oz call query.
4 and a half minutes about Scotland in NLS press conference with further references after that , thought it was a Celtic press conference.
No Ajer and no Julien tomorrow it seems.
Gulp.
Duffy and Bitton were the duo ripped apart by the young uns of Prague.
Gulp x 2.
Gonna need a bigger sofa back tomorrow.
Thankfully Hibs are muck.

Worked for ICL in the early 70s – system 4 mainframes and type 8 and 11 mag tape units.
The factory which employed about 3000 is now a distribution unit.
Big Wavy – Apparently Celtic have tweeted saying Ajer is fit.
It was Julienne Lenny was talking about.

Cheers David66,
Hang yer head in shame Celtic Star, who ran it as an Ajer story..

Fake news correction
The data shows where people visited, not where they caught it.
And the appearance of stadia on the list doesn’t ‘prove’ that getting crowds back to the games would be safe.
It proves only that people aren’t catching Covid at, or on the way to the fitba, cos…….wait for it, have you noticed….cos we’re not presently at, or going to, the fitba.
Similarly, I’ve never been killed while swimming with sharks. Not because it’s inherently safe. But cos I haven’t done it.
