Outdoor activities are not the problem

265

Infection rate sources were released from the clutches of politicians and given to the public yesterday (for England, from 9-15 Nov.).  Supermarkets: 18.3%, schools, 22.8%, hospitals: 3.6%, care homes: 2.8%….. pubs, restaurants, cafes and hospitality combined: 4.1%

The list took account for every sector that recorded 1% of the total, there was not a single outdoor activity noted.  The nations’ sports fields have been busy, taxis, buses and trains have been in use, without troubling the total.  Churches did not get a mention, either.

Outdoor activities are not the problem.  Distanced and monitored football attendance can open safely after 11 December.

  1. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 20TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:43 PM

    James Gang @ 6.19

“It proves only that people aren’t catching Covid at, or on the way to the fitba, cos…….wait for it, have you noticed….cos we’re not presently at, or going to, the fitba.

Similarly, I’ve never been killed while swimming with sharks. Not because it’s inherently safe. But cos I haven’t done it. ”

    ——————————————–

If we are going to use such heavy sarcasm and shout Fox News or Fake News at something, we better be sure we are peddling accurate info, ourselves.

    ———

Ok mate. I’ll trade my poetic license for your pedantry! And to keep you out of mischief while you’re retired, how about you add up all the spectators who’ve been to a top flight fitba match this season. Then compare it as a % with the total for the same period last season.

And then come back and fix my prose as ‘a vanishingly small’ number of us have been to, or travelled to, the fitba.

Need to head my Fhriend. Those sharks in my jacuzzi won’t teach themselves to swim!

    Stay safe. HH jg

  2. So your innacuracy is poetic license, not sarcasm, as I suspected.

And my correction of fact is pedantry.

    Ho hum!

It was a small sample who attended the fitba/rugby. I provided the exact figures so there’s no hiding of that or attempt to hide it.

    And yet….

The important factor, the one we’re all interested in, was the Risk Factor associated with small scale attendance.

Was it really akin to baiting sharks or swinging nuclear bombs?

Or was it at the level of toe-nail cutting and knitting.

    Facts are chiels.

We asked to be allowed to have a trial attendance at football

After much humming and hawing, and letting Rugby go first and biggest, we were allowed 2 trials.

Both went swimmingly- neither produced a Covid risk.

But still, shutdown again was the verdict.

Ever get the feeling you’ve been had?

Ever get the feeling that some will defend the Scottish govt. no matter what?

Sex Pest Trail? Sex Pest Trial Collusion? Sex Pest post -trial evidence suppression?

Letters of commendation to Ibrox after our club gets excoriated? What does it take to bring some up short and say- Haud on a minute!

Dave Cormack at Aberdeen is telling us loud and clear that clubs are in big trouble. That includes ours. Small scale attendance won’t save us from the coming hardship but waiting our turn until football is not seen as a bad smell by this govt. will also serve us badly.

Judging by priorities- first clubs to be allowed back will be the Rugby boys and any football club thta possesses a letter of recommendation.

  3. Is there anything at all in the huns accounts which couldn’t have been forseen by any one of their business competitors?

  4. Douglas park, restoring’ our beloved club to where it belongs’. Why are we using this man’s company to provide our team’s transport. Now to be clear I have no problem using the services of any individual who may not be a supporter of our club, but to add to the coffers of a company which is diametrically opposed to Celtic is bonkers!

  5. I am hopeful that we will show a bit of form at Easter Road. They have some good forwards their but their back 4 and defensive midfield is nothing special. We might concede but we should outscore them.

Sevco playing the Dons might raise hopes but, I believe, if Sevco scores, Sevco wins on Sunday. The important point is that we must put them under pressure to win.

I suspect Lenny will go 4:2:3:1 with 2 up front only if we are behind.

  6. SFTB

    Poetic license? Sarcasm?

Perhaps frustration at disingenuous use of a PHE report to continue to support a very particular, very political narrative.

Your forensic skills – sincerely admired – would be well used on today’s leading article.

Over the years, I’ve often been so proud of CQN. Lately however, I’ve often hoped ‘outsiders’ aren’t looking in, as we fixate on fixture lists and getting a handful of fans back into the ground, while the NHS struggles to cope with the biggest medical emergency for a century.

The notion that you might be left with from reading on here, that Scotland’s political and medical leadership awake every morning with their first thought being how to stop the 10 and ingratiate themselves with sevco fans is very Follow Follow or Fox News in its absurdity.

  7. How can the opening statement in their accounts

Claim the club been in existence since 18 something

2012 – surely this is totally inaccurate and can be challenged

  8. SFTB

With 2 good Hibee pals and a need for points, I too hope we hit form tomorrow. (Or later today, depending on whether we’re using the Jobo ‘x more sleeps’ calendar)

I love to love French Eddie. But he’s not kicked a ball all season…..so to speak!😉

  9. SFTB, genuinely not aware of the conditions of contract, but the fact that ‘Parks of Hamilton’ is emblazoned on our mode of transport gives that company unecessary exposure.

Greetings! Who is going to challenge it, correct or otherwise? Not Celtic plc by the looks of it.

  13. James Gang

“as we fixate on fixture lists and getting a handful of fans back into the ground, while the NHS struggles to cope with the biggest medical emergency for a century. ”

    —————————————–

The two events are unrelated and any attempt to paint it as an anti-NHS position is both weak and false. Allowing football fans to attend in small numbers adds nothing to the challenges that the NHS faces and it is disingenuous to suggest it does.

“The notion that you might be left with from reading on here, that Scotland’s political and medical leadership awake every morning with their first thought being how to stop the 10 and ingratiate themselves with sevco fans is very Follow Follow or Fox News in its absurdity. ”

    ————————————–

The notion that you might reach for in order to reconcile your love of Indepence with your love of Celtic might very well be somewhat similar. The National and Wings Over Scotland can certainly give the dingbats of FF and Fox News some competition.

    However……….

To suggest that the Scottish Govt. has been hostile to football in general (OBaF, Attendance bans) and to suggest that there was a bizarre gap between excoriation of Celtic and Aberdeen and commendation of Sevco, neither exaggerates nor obssesses about the Scottish Government. It selectively picks out the instances where harm has been done to our game or our club and it brings the to light.

Sadly, in a way that causes cognitive dissonance to those forced to reconcile the conflict.

To paint it as obsessive is to use the hun jibe that we have received ever since 2012 and The Period of Great Forgetting.

If it was down to me, I’d shut the beaches!!!

  15. The official Ibrox auditors statement explains the accounts as follows:

“Most of the losses can be attributed to an unforeseen increase in face-painting costs; while this investment proved beneficial in disguising bare-faced cheek – although some argued that it just made us look like clowns – it did not compensate adequately for the additional externally imposed pricing hike for unavoidable increased supplies of brass necks, forked tongues and lyin’ eyes!”

    Statement ends.

    Hail Hail

Do you know of any Celts who have been inclined to use Parks of Hamilton services because Celtic get a free bus from them?

A bluenose acquaintance of mine told me that his rich father-in-law had bid for and taken over a roofing contract at Ibrox, previously held by a firm run by two Celtic fans. The Bluenose’s logic was that if Celtic fans had the contract they must be over-charging Sevco and his father-in-law could do it cheaper. My warnings that he should get the money up front were laughed off as typical fenain obsession anout Rangers’ weak finances.

P.S. I have no idea how the contract worked out for either party but those unpaid tax bills suggest my warnings to him were sound.

  17. Cannae confirm but having dealt with the transportation industry I’d hazard a guess that both us and deidco have freebees with the buses.

Its good adverising for fat boy and safer for us tae as if we did have our own it would get vandalised on a regular basis.

  18. I am a rebel in the Good sense.

I’m gonnae buy and Break the boundaries to see the Leather Belts (cracking terminology) If its Hibernians that benefits from me and Aidan watching Celtic Together, so be it.

    Neil lets do it.

Every odd is stacked against Neilinho.

1 or 2 max signings in January.

When calling landlines (bank of Scotland) from Indonesia I use Skype.put money into your Skype account and you can call landlines. Charges from Indonesia are something like 1 pence a minute. As someone suggested make sure your wife is using wi-fi.

You could try Messenger see how that works.

  20. covid covid covid

    its all about covid.

dosnt matter what was said or promised or even why.

I believe the science that predict that the second wave will be more devastating.

Chances of more people at football matches in the near future? practically zero.

chances of finishing this season, not much higher.A maybe, at best.

you dont go into lockdown, you dont practice social distances . it wont go away.

The vaccine wont stop whats about to come in the next 6 months. dosnt matter how many people lose there jobs, business go bust. people will be broke, hungry, get sick and die.

there is nothing fair or right about this. just horrible truth.

the financial consequences and ruin hast even started yet.

if you dont do it, if you dont make the hard sacrifices? no one else will.

Do you think that a vaccine will turn things around in the USA? Can the rest of the world survive a crashing US dollar? i dont think so.

I hope we win the league and I hope the stands are packed.

and this is my last post. sorry, tired of nonsense, dangerous bloody rubbish as serious discourse.

    its too sad

  21. £23.2m required in next 18 months is in the statement ( by end of 2021/22 season)

Can you imagine a scenario in England, if say Liverpool had the begging bowl out,and trying to win the same title as Manchester City? Absolute farce….
