Overwhelming benefits of being organised

635

St Mirren’s late goal at Ibrox yesterday was as welcome as it was unexpected, but it means little for us.  It was only the fourth league goal Rangers have conceded all season and Celtic almost conceded a fourth goal in the final minutes against Kilmarnock.  Four goals conceded in 11 games is championship winning form.

Rangers are certainly not a European-standard team at the moment but they are overwhelmingly organised.

We’re in trouble.

  1. Kayal is trying to work his ticket. Make sure he earns it. Re-sign Artur and lock him in the dressing room with BK for 15 minutes. Make it 33. Should we have expected more from him given his background?

It is worse every time you watch it. The first goal especially. One long ball over the top and it is all over.

The second is offside but close enough to see how it could be given.

The third is shocking. Fowler ran from his own half to get on the end of that.

Shows what tactics and commitment can do for you.

When ‘world’ football not just the premiership and championship clubs feel the effect of the sky ruling and that rich vein of cash runs out will we then see the true catasphophy that is heading this way due to the world economic climate

We THEN will thank our board and ex board members who financial expertise saw this train wreck coming and acted in the best interest of our club.

Many big footballing names will join the same footballing graveyard as third Lanark .

Banks would help footballing institutions but will now sacrifice them to save themselves!

Who knows what the future holds but at the moment it looks very very bleak.

From earlier. I think it is fair to say that, up until fairly recently, Celtic were represented by players born and brought up in Scotland, supplemented with players from Ireland. They weren’t all Celtic Fans, though many were of course. Going back to the pre-Stein revival we had plenty of talented players, but had not won a trophy between 1958 and 1965, although we came close a few times. Modern day Celtic fans would have given up the ghost back in that particular day. Stein gave those players belief, confidence and strength. He harnessed all their individual abilities into a team ethic. Martin O’Neill inherited some good players, McNamara, Stubbs, Boyd, Petrov, Moravcik and Larsson, added to them and built a powerhouse team. When Neil Lennon got the job, he was thirty eight years old, the same age that Jock Stein left Celtic to go and manage Dunfermline. How would Jock have done had he been given the job at 38, indeed how would Celtic have done 1960-65? No way of knowing. I can tell you this though, if he had won the Scottish Cup, been second in the Scottish League, and reached the League Cup final with Celtic in 1960, you better believe he would have been supported to the hilt the following season. Neil Lennon, no more your first choice than mine, needs to impose his vision for the club not only on his players, but on the board as well. Maybe he will reach that promised land, maybe he will not, but he deserves our support on that path, because you know something, at this minute he is not getting from all the other Neil Lennons out there!

another wee note on the goals …of all the goals we have shipped in the past few weeks , how many has the goalkeeper been responsible for ?

we could have 2 goalies between the sticks , wouldnt make a blind bit of difference , defend from the front , work ethic is not there .

  9. rangers have been knocked out all 3 cups they have contested so far, by Malmo, Maribor and Falkirk, who, btw. fielded a team of teenagers, and scored 3 against almost their full 1st team, including their legendary defenders.

Just had a look at the fixture list games coming up, it is entirely possible we could be ahead before the end of the year, never mind the end of the season.

I don’t have a problem with any player working their ticket to play in a better, higher payed league, every player should have the desire to be as good as they can be.

Kayal has a problem, I believe he thinks he is better than he really is.

If we can see that he isn’t doing himself justice, I would have no doubt that a professional manager can see it as well, as for expecting more from him due to his upbringing, I honestly wouldn’t have a clue about that, but I would expect him to fight in a more controled manner due to his background.

“McCoist was no novice coming into his first season in management 18 months on Neil Lennon and his backroom staff are still learning.”

McCoist IS a novice. His 18 months as an assistant means nothing because he is calling the shots now rather than making the tea and telling jokes.

Football is littered with assistant managers who all failed to make the step up – many of them with considerably more than 18 months serving their time as an understudy.

So far Sleekit Boy’s start is similar to Neil Lennon’s with an early run of league wins under his belt. Like Lenny he has failed in his early European matches. And like Lenny (and every other manager new to the role) he will continue to make mistakes during his first few years.

There is still much to play for this season, providing Celtic get their act together. Yesterday could be a turning point – not just because of the results and the manner in which they came about, but because certain individuals may no longer be trusted to wear a Celtic strip again.

Not sure what way to approach Thursday.

    Some say play the kids.

    Im not sure.

    firstly the kids mustnt be held in much regard for us to have Loovens, Rogne, Mark Wilson and El Kadhouri on the bench on Saturday;

secondly we are a good result away in europe from having an almighty hoodoo removed from us, which ordinarily should in theory manifest itself into other positive things.

I say ordinarily because this is a team that couldnt motivate itself for a final 45 mins at Ibrox, the same team which couldnt motivate itself in the same arena their manager was physically assaulted and cheered on from the home crowd – and the same team who then started so shambolically against Kilmarnock on the back of those 2 results when you thought they might have been trying to prove something to themselves / their manager and / or the magnificent Celtic support.

so ordinarily doesnt seem to apply to the current Celtic team.

In between this haze of unpredictability I think I would be telling Kayal his performances between now and New Year will be the difference of a move to Bolton Wanderers or a move to a Newcastle..

I would drop Ki because the lad isnt ready for the rigours of anything which requires a bit of bite and ball

I would drop Majstorovic for Rogne. And then when Rogne has a bad one replace him with Loovens, hopefully by that time we will be just about to enter into a transfer window.

I would drop Forster for atleast ALL European games – because as was pointed out to me Zaluska was our sweeper against Udinese. Twice Udinese got in behind the defence and would have been one on one had Forster been in goals – only Zaluska raced out and swept up.

When Forster is one on one – as evidenced on Saturday he basically holds up a white flag. (Maybe thats harsh, maybe its not)

I would leave Stokes and Hooper alone.

I would ensure I always had various options on the bench – which covered my plan b and plan c.

    I would get a plan b and I would get a plan c.

That being the case why aren’t the players giving their all? I watched fifty-fifty balls being won by inferior players than ours yesterday.

Granted the keeper is not at fault for the goals but he ain’t commanding in that area and looks constantly afraid.

He ain’t no keeper or certainly not the one we needed.

Heard Phil Mac say Celtic wouldn’t pay Pletikosa’s wages. If that is true, it is yet another example of Neil being hamstrung by those above him.

They wouldn’t pay his wages yet we have given wages to players who are all out on loan and countless others in the last few years who contribute nothing and let us down constantly.

    Pletikosa, Sandomierski or Forster?

Funnily enough at one point yesterday I thought Forster was our best player. He made a very good save at 1-0 but it proved fruitless really.

It seems when the guy makes big saves they aren’t important to the result. You could argue that it might have been 4-0 at half time but we were bloody lucky to get 3-3 regardless.

Pletikosa told Croatian press that Celtic offered one year contract. He said that wanted two years and could not agree for one year. Money were not the problem. When he was in Glasgow he had longer contract from Russian side. Money in Russia were apparently bigger but until final conversation Pletikosa’s choice was Celtic.

You make a good point about the BBC Trust “consolidating” complaints.

One of the points I am appealing to the BBC Trust on is that my specific original complaint was dealt with by a generic BBC response that this did not deal with my specific complaint, but instead consolidated the many complaints that the BBC had received.

Now my appeal that my complaint that the BBC’s generic response broke the BBC Trust’s Editorial Guidelines is being consolidated with your (and others) complaints to allow the BBC Trust to send out a generic response.

As I said I have little insight into the machinations of the Game, so I dont know whether other teams play harder against us than they do against the Huns…but what is not in doubt is that we ‘play’ – both management and players in a more difficult environment, generally. When Celtic lose, the nation rejoices. I’ve no idea of the stats but I’d guess, generally, each team we play have more Huns than Tims in the team too.

Given that we have an inexperienced manager and management team I’m not surprised we’ve had to confront really worrying lapses in form and commitment. The manager has to make everything tic, everyday. Lenny is not yet that good at it……

I guess we’ll have more results like this weekends…….I hope the huns will too. My point is that as our form has faltered the gulf between us and the others has reduced.

It still amounts to spending money for longer. A short term deal for your number 1 keeper is very silly regardless. I’ll take your word for it that it was not about the wages but offering a guy like that a year after he went on a trial is insulting. Sandomierski was about money though yeah? Celtic wouldn’t pay the money for the keeper (a transfer fee).

Regardless having a loan Keeper as your number one at a club like Celtic is very very stupid.

Come next summer, he goes down to Newcastle and Celtic still need a Keeper and is Zaluszka’s contract not finished?

    Even worse.
