Paddy the wizard, Paddy the athlete, he’s going all the way

547

We like Patrick Roberts; all of us do. He’s the kind of player who gets fans out of their seats, an entertaining throwback to a time when wing wizards were wanted by all. But Patrick is more than that.

I spent a bit of time with him last year at an Adidas ‘Backed by Messi’ event. He was very chilled for most of the day, before becoming sharply focussed, “I need to eat.” “I need to eat” was said several times. It had an urgency, the time for shooting the breeze was over, within minutes, a meal was needed to keep physiological objectives on plan.

Patrick wasn’t seeing many first team minutes at that time, but focus was complete. This is an athlete who plans to go all the way in the game.

He’s at Celtic because he wanted to be here. Manchester City were looking for an incredible figure for his transfer, well over double Celtic’s previous highest transfer fee, although perhaps not so incredible given the market in England. Without Patrick’s patience, City would have found a buyer, but Patrick knows where he and Celtic are going this season.

Great to have you back, Paddy.  You’re going to love playing centre half.  Ask big Nir, it’s an absolute blast!

The Coetzee deal may be resurrected in January pending successful surgery

    ==============

Read somewhere that the condition is just something he has (bones not fused properly) and that it is not a case of surgery being possible to ‘clear it up’.

Celtic will, or already have, take the OPINION of highly qualified medical EXPERTS before deciding whether or not to take a gamble on the players fitness again in January.

Celtic have also tried to call TonyD who was too busy swinging for cats in his back garden to take the call,

All this frugal talk for frugals sake grinds my gears, we have an opportunity here to invest wisely in the first team, spending a wee bit more than usual got us Ollie and whilst the price tag is no indication of how someone will do, it is an indication of what at least 2 professional clubs value players at.

    Loftier ambitions….. anyone?

According to some, Jozo wants out and by all accounts if he was fit we’d punt Erik so a definite first team starter is required. Would like to think we’d go back in for Rivaldo (only because id get that on the back of my shirt)

i was intrigued by the quote from Ajax Cape Town

“unable to conclude the transfer at this time”

i know that could mean anything but seemed slightly positive that it may still go ahead (he was rumoured to have seen a specialist last weekend)

I find kezias resignation a little sad but probably inevitable

Interesting to watch “new” posters appear over Paul’s article on Scottish government cheating and dugdales resignation.

The cyber nats continue their at democratic approach.

    hi Neg,

not to be misinterpreted with the ‘democratic’ approach of your ex leader lest we forget Tony the war criminal.never to be forgotten and never will be.The man who killed labour. You just have to accept it.

but you wont as getting a labour politician to accept responsibility just does not happen.Thank god for memory.

Yes I suppose Celtic could be seeking additional advice/looking at examples of other players with the condition. If they decide to proceed it will all happen pretty quickly provided the medical highlighted nothing else!

The caveat with the Gospel is that it is only ‘the gospel according to…’ some lad who had less tools at his disposal for research than modern scientists, of course ;)
