This time last year we were glowing at the dramatic win at Fir Park, which saw Luis Palma and Matt O’Riley score either side of a Motherwell goal in added time. Luis scored two of our five Champions League goals last season and by Christmas looked like a successful summer buy.
Form dropped off across the team during the winter months and Luis was one of the casualties. He played only once after pickign up an injury in March, which coincided with an uptick in results.
Last night’s hattrick in a friendly at Sligo Rovers would not have meant as much to him as giving Celtic the lead against Atletico Madrid or Feyenoord last year, but he needed to lay down a marker like that.
Brendan likes to sub wingers during the game, which means at least three and often four from Maeda, Kuhn, Yang, Forrest and Palma will play. He will have chances to stake his case before the end of the season.

Its not Odins fault that BR dizny know how to play to the strengths of his players like yon auld geezer called Stein used to do.
Playing Maeda as a winger – when DM is a breakaway striker of excellence.
Playing Kyogo as a sitting midfielder – when real folk know KF is ditto DM.
Far too much running about doing daft presses when a ball over the top to DM or KF will result in a goal and players becoming more experienced rather being bored to death by boring BR or AP types.
Playing out from the back is asking for a slap.
Maybe be a good idea to look at the methodologies behind the Greeks who were outstanding vs boring and predictable England. Thank God Celtic don’t have to face Greece.
PS, Under BR, KF would be as well sitting on his ass in midfield.
Apologies for the bad grammar and maths in my last comment – well it’s early.
…just to put Premier Sports 75K for the top of the league clash between Celtic and Aberdeen, which Celtic rejected, into context.
This is the deal that was brokered in 2011…
“ESPN and Sky Sports have signed a £80m five-year deal with the Scottish Clydesdale Bank Premier League, to each broadcast 30 games live a season in the UK and Ireland
The new deal is on what a spokesman for the SPL called “improved terms” and runs from 2012/13 to the end of the 2016/17 season.
https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/sky-sports-espn-sign-scottish-football-deal/1105304
Now that deal was to run from 2012/13, which meant Rangers dying swan act put paid to that…..
….., we were getting over quarter a million per game.
£260k as opposed to £75k over a decade later….
Hail Hail
Good morning all from a wet 8 degree Garngad.
These international breaks are a nightmare.

Totally off topic.

You just beat me to it.
I remember it well as I was also there that day while my HUN BURD went to the ” BEAMBACK” at Ipox.
Apparently…there were 30,000 Huns there to witness the Huns getting gubbed 5 – 1.
I suspect that many of the Huns left Ipox early that day….my HUN Burd and her Pal left so early that they missed Van Brockhursts Goal.
LOL
She binned me about two months later…Thank God.
