LUIS PALMA is on the brink of a loan exit from Celtic with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano set to make their move.
The Honduran international winger made a cameo appearance in the 2-0 win over Dundee United at Parkhead last night and was involved in the build-up to the clinching goal from Reo Hatate.
However, Palma, who has started only two games in his 10 appearances this season, could be heading out in this transfer window, according to Spanish media reports.
They state the 24-year-old touchline ace is close to agreeing a temporary switch to Vallecano who will have the option of buying the flamboyant player in the summer for £2.1million.
The champions are likely to sanction a loan for Palma, but it is highly improbable they will accept a cut-price fee for the forward who cost £3.5million from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in June 2023 on a five-year contract.
The flanker has also been linked with interested clubs in Italy, Germany and France, but he is unlikely to be allowed to move before Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers are concluded against Aston Villa in the Midlands on Wednesday January 29.
Fringe central defender Stephen Welsh signed a short-term deal with Belgian club KV Mechelen earlier today.
