Celtic blew Partick Thistle away this evening with a virtuoso performance, which really needed to be seen to be appreciated. They passed perfectly on the Partick pitch and should have been ahead before Leigh Griffiths got the party going with an 18th minute penalty.
By that time, Emilio Izaguirre hit the post and Tomas Cerny made a fine save from Patrick Roberts. Thistle defender Callum Booth tried to stop Roberts but mistimed his tackle to concede the penalty.
Griffiths was on fire in the first half and beat three players inside the box before crossing for Tom Rogic, who lunged to make a slight contact on the ball, but it was enough to knock it against the inside of the post. Firhill held its collective breath as the ball ran along the line before turning inside the net at the opposite post.
Leigh then setup Callum McGregor but Cerny saved again. Thistle were struggling to get onto the ball but Lindsey should have done better with a header from an Erskine cross but the ball landed in Craig Gordon’s arms.
Goal of the night game three minutes before the break. James Forrest cutback for Roberts, who fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
Thistle probably thought they were passed the worst but Callum McGregor got his customary goal on 82 minutes when his shot from the edge of the box hit the underside of the crossbar, bounced half a meter over the line and out, but the assistant referee correctly indicated the goal.
Tom Rogic was clean through with the keeper to beat twice late in the game, but substitute Thistle goalie, Ridgers. Tom couldn’t get enough on his header but the Thistle defence gave possession to Patrick Roberts on a plate. The England Youth international jinked before curling a memorable goal beyond the despairing keeper.

Having had a peek at the sports pages on shelves this am, I am now of the belief that we played adequately well last evening.
That’s what this season’s slump is all about! We are obviously just slightly less mediocre than the mediocre rest.
I’m sick of it. Rodgers must go!
Morning all
Was at he game last night,so behind the display of dogs and banners which was great to be in amongst. Some atmosphere. Anybody got pics of the display.
James Doleman
Betts asked about a document showing a £16m loan from Rangers to Wavetower. Says he has never seen it.
Betts agrees that when this happened (9 May 2011) he was a director of both Rangers and Wavetower.
AD “As a director of Rangers you approved a £16m loan to Wavetower, of which you were also a director?”
Betts “According to that document”
(is Betts on trial?)
Betts “I don’t remember signing the loan agreement, but it is my signature”
AD “Do you sign documents without reading them?”
AD “Do you recall who asked you to sign this document?”
Betts “I don’t remember signing it.”
AD “Did Wavetower have any assets?”
Betts “No”
AD “It was club money that was being used to pay off the Lloyds debt?”
Betts “Wavetower were the owners of Rangers Football Club”
AD “Do you see it as an issue that a club asset is being used to pay off the debt?”
Betts “The bank had control of those assets anyway”
AD “Wavetower had no funds”
Betts “The completion price was only a pound.”
Betts says deal was £27m in total, majority Ticketus money, £1m from Merchant £4.5m from Whyte.
Betts says he first heard about Jerome pension fund in July 2011 when he saw Aidan Earley in the directors box at Ibrox
AD As a director of Wavetower did you have sight of the funds to be used?
Betts “No”
Betts on Jerome pension fund “I spoke to Gary Withey about it but can’t recall the conversation”
Betts says money was to be provided for players, the stadium and the tax bill “If HMRC gave us time to pay the tax bill”
AD “Was there a desire to keep the involvement of Ticketus confidential?”
Betts says Ticketus did not want Murray group to know
Adds “They were concerned the Murray Group would approach them for the funds and they would say no.”
AD suggests cash-flow projection given to Murray was misleading as didn’t mention Ticketus
Flags and banners. Bloody predictive text !!!!

If Aberdeen win without Christie
Well as long as my team has played to win I wont mind.losing is part of football.
Ryan would not be comprimised and importantly his relationship with us would be continious.
HH
City had no say in Roberts playing against them.
Much like us and super Mo Bangura.
HH
AStor
Indeed and to make it worse her man was one of us who didn’t bother
GEORDIE MUNRO
The difference between Bangura and Roberts is that Roberts parent club welcomed and endorsed his being given a starting place where Bangura’s parent club was vociferously against him getting a start.
Chalk and cheese?
My friends in Celtic,
Watching Celtic gives us the feelgood factor.
If there is a more exciting team on these islands I will eat an amphisbaena.
Roll on Sunday. I just can’t get enough.
Hail, Hail.
PS : Pesky work IT department department tried to f@ck with my happiness last night by working on the Wi-Fi. Happiness was restored tuning in to sky sports 5.
A Stor,
Lennon wasn’t keen on the idea. But he shoulda been wise enough to know he was powerless to do anything.
It’s a rule that in Europe they can play and in domestic league you can’t.
Smile or stomp. You ain’t changing it.
HH
GEORDIE MUNRO:
I’m not trying to change anything, I’m only saying that it would be considerate and kind of Celtic to give Aberdeen the nod. Considerate and kind… two neat character traits indicative of the Celtic proclaimed ethos.
Chris Sutton:
But Chris Sutton believes Bangura’s loyalty is to the club paying his wages.
And the former Celtic striker said: “If Elfsborg pay your wages then you have to do the best you can for them. You have to be a professional.
“I know there’s such a thing as Sod’s Law and Bangura could come back to haunt Celtic but that’s not the point.
“The question of Elfsborg being drawn against Celtic in Europe and what should be done where Mo was concerned wasn’t dealt with in his loan agreement.
“Under the circumstances he has to do his best for Elfsborg if he’s chosen.
ASTORMHACHROI
As I suggested earlier,we should run the idea past Ryan first.
Think of the following scenario.
Two minutes to go,Celtic one up. Ball falls to RC. GREAT CHANCE!!!!
Oh,snatched at it/hit the post/great save.
Many would call it deliberate. You know it,we all know it.
Worse,1-1 at the time and he scores the winner to wreck our treble and invincible season. Me,I’m a forgiving type, because I frequently transgress. Others maybe not so.
Keep him out the firing line seems wise, sadly.
One of the little special dispensations in the UEFA FFP rules for awarding a Euro licence is if the club fails the criteria for debt etc, they can reach a settlement agreement with UEFA if they can present a robust business case for improving their financial position dramatically over the following two seasons.
We know Sevco have significant outstanding loans – they fail the basic criteria. Now, we hear from the SMSM that £13m pound of season ticket money is about to find its way into Pedro’s warchest. Hmm, season ticket money that is used to fund all operating expenses is to be spent just on transfers. That doesn’t sound like improving the financial position next season. Even that £13m spent solely on running the club as it stands right now would make them ANOTHER loss.
It’s almost as if it’s total lies from SMSM and the SFA are cheating b’s…
A STOR MHA CHROI on 19TH MAY 2017 10:27 AM
I wouldn’t be against Ryan Christie playing, even scoring as I am confident we will score another 3 or 4 against them.
We have been fantastic in our last 4 games:
5-1 v Huns
4-1 v St Johnstone
3-1 v Dandy Dons
5-0 v Thistle
17-3 against our 4 closest rivals and 3 of those games away from home. Why are we worried about Aberdeen?
Aberdeen 1 Celtic 3 (12/05 Pittodrie)
Celtic 1 Aberdeen 0 (01/02 Celtic Park)
Aberdeen 0 Celtic 3 (27/11 Hampden)
Aberdeen 0 Celtic 1 (29/10 Pittodrie)
Celtic 4 Aberdeen 1 (27/08 Celtic Park)
Celtic 12 Aberdeen2 over the season. Does anyone REALLY think they will beat us (even with the MIB)?
This is not hubris, just a realistic view of the situation.

BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS:
Will he ever get the chance to play in a Scottish Cup Final again?
Aberdeen pay his wages… he is a professional football player… he is given a jersey (hypothetical)… what he does on the field is up to him.
Didn’t Scott Brown score against us for Hibs after he’d signed for us (albeit the ink wasn’t dry ’cause the pen hadn’t touched the paper) at Easter Road?
Didn’t hinder his career.
How about we give the Dons a 1-0 head start as well. Only let Craig Gordon wear one glove. Paddy Roberts only to use his right foot…
Winning a treble must be really easy.

More obfuscation from the Lying King.
He said the season ticket money will be invested in the team. Most of that is wages (around £10M) as well as costs for trying etc. Very little will go on transfers (less than £3M would be my guess).
Don’t be as gullible as the gullibles! :>)

The cabal behind keeping the huns afloat alive and kicking with an unbroken history-ffs,who really would want that history?-of tainted titles and rowing boats obviously rely on the maxim of Benjamin Franklin.
We must hang together on this,or assuredly we will hang separately.

Should Ryan play in the final? That’s a tricky one. Both arguments have their merits but i’d go along with the suggestion that someone should just ask Ryan.If he wants to then fine,he’s accepting the responsibility and whatever any fallout stems from his input in the game itself. If he’d rather sit it out then that too is fine.Let the bhoy decide,it’s his life.
I don’t see us losing so in my kind it’s all academic anyway.
Our bhoys were brilliant last night. From first to last whistle they were on top of their games and yet again relentless. The true value of the season this team have gifted us will not be fully appreciated until years in the future. An historic season indeed, roll on Sunday.

I’ve explained my thoughts on RC. Run it past him first then make the offer to the SFA and Aberdeen
As a comparison,I have always looked for the best in every player who pulls on our famous colours. Some might quibble about certain signings through the years, but in general,I expect good things and they get my support.
The Moaning Marsupial would never have been near a Celtic jersey if it was up to me.
I wouldn’t want that to happen to RC

Where’s Big Jimmy? Hope you are ok. Missed you today. Did you get to The Admiral to watch the game?

Cheers SCANIEL, thanks for your kind words.
3 reasons why I haven;t posted ( apart from one post about Mary Black…when I was single fished last night after watching The Hoops).
1) I was off the drink for about 10 weeks than hit big time yesterday before and after the mauling of the Maryhill mob.
2) When I tried to get on the blog this morning…I couldn’t read anything cos of feckin ADS !
3) I mean this in the feckin nicest way possible…RPMC..etc etc….Please STOP with you attempts at the “Celtic song writing”…stick to your day job ….its very…VERY feckin embarsassing…..seriously mate, you are coming across like a ” 3 year old…..with a 2 year old brain” !
By all means keep them coming.if thats Your BAG..but seriously do you honestly think/believe that The GB are going use your songs in their support of Celtic ?…if I am wrong please feel free to advise me on here how many of YOUR songs have been embraced by the Celtic support …so far ?
Honestly mate….think about it for feckin 5 seconds ?
