Got to say it was nice to see 4-4-2 getting an outing, Eddie and the griff paired up well and could be a very fruitful partnership if allowed to continue.

    ———–

Was it a 442? I’m still trying to figure out the formation, lots in the middle, only the full backs out wide

    The huddle,

There are emails at the SFA that demonstrate collusion to undermine the rules, remember the ‘UEFA are too busy to properly verify the submission’ mail between the SFA and rangers.

    ——-

Do we have copies of those emails? I know we have evidence they broke the rules, didn’t know we had evidence of collusion.

  4. That was abysmal. Yes the refs are determined to ensure we lose – ignored a blatant penalty for us and gave one against us which no neutral observer would agree with. But that’s the Scottish reality which our club refuses to challenge vigourously. Too dependent on the “Old Firm” revenues bollocks.

Re Frimpong’s non-penalty – maybe his only run to the bye-line (his ace-card) so why did he keep passing across or, more often, back? Not his natural game. Why did Taylor, who had a good game, never get to the bye-line? Dud coaching/tactics?

Can we afford to have Ntcham and Rogic in the same team? Don’t think so – Christie is more direct and effective than either.

But the key message is our lack of tactical nous unger Neil Lennon and his coaching team. They can’t see when it is not working and are incapable of changing the setup. We’ll face much better teams than Thistle over the rest of the season (credit to McCall for good bus-parking organisation) but everything Thistle did was predictable and should have resulted in a wiser tactical approach.

Instead, the game was open until Calmac’s deflected goal. Had he not scored, the ref, Muir, would have secured the desired draw. Some of you can’t bear to mention Rodgers but he would never have set up that way and, even if he had, he would have sorted it.

You can’t bring in a top manager for a couple of years and then go backwards if you want to compete at a corrupt Euro level. Are we happy to be big fish in a wee league or competitors? If the latter, we need an pmangager and coaching team

    The huddle,

You could be right, might have been a 4-3-3 with Rogic alternating between mid and front

  6. Go tell the Spartim on

It’s always fascinating to hear how others view the game, we’re all guilty of confirmation bias, some though are just at it.

Re: Bonnar, he’s a dreadful pundit, the fact that he works on the BBC says it all, I’ve yet to hear him defend Celtic he merely plays lip service to it, just listen to him after any euro game

It was among the first emails leaked.

Time to call in Police Scotland then ;O) ok not Police Scotland but time we moved this to the courts, you aint getting any joy from Celtic, SFA or UEFA.

    ——-

I stood inside Celtic park and asked a Celtic employee who is a qualified solicitor about those emails. He replied and i quote ‘yeah but there are probably emails between Celtic and the SFA that depending on how you look at them, could look suspicious’.

It was worryingly bang average, like most of December

  12. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    David17,

And they probably are uspicious, walks like a duck and all that, might be along the lines of, yes we’re ok with the five way agreement…..

  13. glendalystonsils on

Having had the chance to see the Thistle pen again I’ve changed my mind . Frimpong was caught on the wrong side (although he wouldn’t have been expecting Julien’s mistake) but uses his pace to get back and put in a good challenge . Even Craigan agrees it was not a pen .

Our pen for the shove on Frimps was much more obvious….no dubiety….simple cheating.

  14. Pleae Neil, don’ t give your usual ‘we were brilliant’ post- match briefing. Celtic have not played well for many weeks. It is a combination of poor team selection and tactics accompanied with poor individual and team performances from the players. We are not progressing. Neil has to sort this out ……. and quickly.

  15. glendalystonsils on

    BigYinMilan

Positives were that we had almost total control of that game………negatives were that we didn’t do nearly enough with it .

  16. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

I can’t see what all the whining is about, we played well and created plenty chances the link up play between Eddie and the griff was top class at times and big TR was looking back to his best.it was 1-2 going on 0-7

  17. Good for Griffiths, Rogic, Simonuvic, Kimala & Arzani to get some game minutes

We will need them for the next few months

  18. we did not play well today , the formation 442 was more like 262 with the middle 6 playing with 2 wide and 4 stuck in the centre getting in each others way.

  19. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Ron67,

You really don’t have the first idea about the game, do you, everything I’ve read from you today demonstrates you clueless about football

  20. glendalystonsils on

I think Thistle played the stifling game quite well tonight…………. if you like that sort of thing .

  21. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    GDT,

They did and I thought Eddie and the Griff unlocked them plenty times which was promising if we can keep them together it could be the key to opening such defence see have been looking for

  22. Delighted for Leigh.. the most natural goal scorer on our books …

Not read back and don’t intend too :-)

Over the last few weeks on here many many posters have been questioning Neil’s (in)ability to change things .. a few seem a bit scared of the Great Grealdinho (who has won the square root of eff all) even though for last season and a bit has had the 2nd (if more first) highest wage bill in Scotland

Just sitting here wondering if Simone Inzaghi thinks Neil doesn’t have the ability to understand this football tactics stuff …. pretty sure Simone is on a terrific run in Serie A after Neil nearly got him the bullet …. after beating him home & away … but Neil can’t handle Seethin Gerrard …. ok then :-)

  23. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Ron67,

I should expect so, know your limits, you should probably stick to tennis or snooker, more than two in a team appears well beyond your ken

  24. Callum at his post match interview said we were narrow due to not playing wingers or no suitable wingers available, I just think we overplay at the edge of the opposition box, sort that more goals will come, on to wednesday, tough match coming up.

  25. GTTS,

Thanks for the reply. I caught the remainder of the game on the radio from about half 6 and he defended Celtic over the penalty claim. Will listen out after a Euro game.

I do agree he isn’t great but if anything I think it’s fairly obvious he’s a Celtic fan.

Not sure what the BBC comment means.

    HH

  26. Woohoo we won and that is the bottom line.

However I saw no sign of a refreshed , reinvigorated team after our stint in Dubai. I was also slightly disappointed that Shved didn’t merit a place, considering the great endorsement he got from NFL.

HH to all, the journey continues.

  27. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Dessybhoy,

I don’t see how else they will create space for a shot at the edge of a packed box.

When we have wingers we sacrifice numbers in the box so less there to feed.

The Griffs goal exemplifies that IMO, he was the extra body we need in there to snap up the loose ball and take the chance.

  28. glendalystonsils on

    Canamalar

Considering Griff has only played a handful of minutes this season , he was not far off his best and the combination with Eddy will bring out the best in both of them . It’ll also be interesting to see how the new striker combines with either of them.

  29. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Majestic…,

I suggest you read back and evaluate his posts for yourself before jumping in to his defence, I am of course assuming it is male I could be mistaken on that account.

  30. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Good point made earlier about Saracens.

    Laws broken. Punishment clear.

No club too big to fail or be punished, retrospectively, according to their violations.

That’s what happens when the overseers have some integrity and fear being exposed for NOT doing the right thing.

Worth remembering, Celtic tried to change this and go almost zero support or buy in.

Full boycotts of other clubs (unless they support major reform) and Hampdump would fix this right quick.

    It’s in our hands.

    Keep The Faith

  31. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    GDT,

For me the main advantage is if they continue to play together, we will have two fully match sharp forwards, that will reduce the risk when one gets injured. Introducing either polish pat or Bayo as subs weekly will provide sharpness and allow them to integrate into the partnership allowing either to stake a claim on the partnership as long as form becomes the overriding factor for selection. Right now I saw enough from Eddie and the Griff to maintain their partnership in the next team.
