GARY67 et al
I reckon the consensus is that we all love Mikael Lustig, but that he’s definitely struggling at the moment.
Maybe this has to do with the fact that he is on his longest run without injury since joining us,and maybe the number of games-with hardly a pre-season,remember-is just too much for him.
I don’t think we should write him off,but with young Ralston there to take the heat off him and give him the occasional wee break,we can build up Anthony’s experience and still have a hunskelper in fine form as first pick.
AR’s injury probably spiked that plan, but I doubt we need to sign a replacement. We just need our option back.

I remember reading “The Player” column in 4-4-2 years ago. It was more like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
But with money. As you say.
Bunch of young fit testosterone-fuelled fellas,full wallet,loads of time on their hands-thank f… I wasn’t blessed like that,because I wouldn’t have survived it!
The Secret Footballer was the most mentol, illuminating, frustrating and ultimately sad books I’ve ever read.
Certainly destroys the naive innocence of us fans.

Morning all
Left ear popped there. Unfortunately means I can hear some real idiocy around me again.
As for Mikael, I wonder if we sign a RB ( or Ralston comes in) whether he will be found to be injured/ have to go for some remedial treatment. I know he had big hip problems three years ago and notice that he currently has problems turning quickly which impacts on his passing. Just a thought but he is really struggling of late.

That’s a fair point. Mobility is being highlighted as the problem, it’s actually his distribution. It was poor first half against the Sevvies, and once last night. The fact he mis-controlled a waist high ball, is why he is being labelled “finished”. Fact is Lustig (as highlighted by Gary 67) does get up the park eg Eddie’s goal at weekend.
He had a problem earlier in his Celtic career and seldom maintained 100% fitness.

“Only caught second half of game, mainly because I just knew the first half would be pash. Anyway I give us a 5/10 aesthetical points for the performance that I saw. ”
That’s great. Now, if you can just keep this practice going for all future games AND, if you have time on your hands, go back and retrospectively rate all our previous games for a decade or so, we should have the definitive measure of just which level of excrement we would rate ourselves as, and whether the shade is darker or lighter than it was.
If you are a fair judge, the mineshafters can deduct 2 points from your rating because you are insufficiently pessimistic and the happy clappers can load on another 2 points because you might be a notoriously grumpy sod.
I don’t have the energy for the task. I just tend to put all those narrow victories and sp-so performances into one vast grey sludge of memory and just remember the best games. Looking forward to the Hibs game already.

That was almost a review for Paul McGrath’s autobiography, except that I would replace sad with uplifting.
If only because he had the balls to write it.
Auldheid,
Agree with everything you wrote there about last night’s game. I would only add that we cannot rea”y start with Lustig anymore (and, like you, I am a fan). I think, any roads, we should be playing 3 at the back against most SPFL teams.
rea”y=really, of course.
