Patience from the champions

206

Our struggles this season first emerged been on August when St Johnstone first visited. Then, they were bottom of the league but earned a point and could have left with more. Having escaped Perth in December with three points after being behind at the break, there will be no over-confidence among the champions.

Whatever bounce Craig Levein brought after his managerial arrival has dissipated. His side have win only two of their 10 games since the break, at Ross County and Aberdeen.  They will defend deep but patience from the champions spirits pay off.

Sorry a proud but boastful post coming up.

My wee (well not so wee now) 11 year old grandson had a football test/trial with SFA Performance school, Braidhurst high school Motherwell on Tuesday (just found out there) and now he has to go and see the Headmaster with his mum and dad and talk about his Academical studies this week. Which should not be an issue as he is always top of his class.

Me and his gran have always been proud of him regardless of his football but seeing the video of him crying (as he wants this so much) makes us even prouder.

He knows he has a lot of hard work ahead and he is prepared for it.

Sorry for the proud grandparents post, hopefully one day we get to see him play professional but for him to be happy is so important to me and the wife, a professional environment dressing room can be brutal at times as a few of us on here will know, but it’s what he wants and I hope he gets there one day, a few clubs were interested also so let’s see.

    …………………

    MAGICAL Davie Bhoy.

I sincerely hope that Wee Riley gets to fulfil ALL of his dreams.

When RILEY Signs for Celtic….I want to be his Agent !

ALL the BEST to you and ALL the Family.

    HH Mate…and Wee RILEY.

  4. Good morning from a glorious, sunny, dry 3 degree Garngad.

At, Big Jimmy thanks he has a lot of hard work to do but at least he will be in the right place with SFA coaches/scouts etc.

He will still be at the Game today and the Roch game if it doesn’t clash with the Tic and beating his Drum following St Rochs…

Right 5-1 today I can feel it.

Havetski Jim you are right sir let’s all get behind the team for the final push, although I think we all were it was and is the board we were/are against or some of us. But hey Come on Celtic and come on the fans let’s all put the board to 1 side and chant our hearts out today.

  5. There were two blocks to Sevco getting to Dublin. Benfica and the Border in the Irish Sea.

  6. Clement is a tactical genius.

“Look at this, I find it incredible,” commented McCoist on the goal. “He might be in his own half, you know, the defending from Rangers again I find, frankly, unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable from your own corner. Not once, twice, three or four times, it’s amazing. It cuts across Diomande, gives Butland the eyes and uses his pace. Silva gives himself a better angle but Rangers’ defending from their own corner, incredible.”

  7. Clyde forward Harry Hood signs for Celtic in a £40,000 deal.

    One of my favourite bhoys.

“Celtic is so much a part of me that my one aim is to be a success with them and keep at the top as long as I can”

    Harry Hood

  8. ‘We’ve got Harry and Lou Macari and Kevin Barry…oh Harry Hood !’,

‘Harry, oh Harry, Harry, oh Harry, Harry…’, to the chorus of George Harrison’s My Sweet Lord.

‘We don’t need your Colin Stein

    Joe Harper or Alan Gilzean

We’ve got someone twice as good

    We’ve got Harry, Harry Hood’

    ‘We don’t need your Jairzinho

    Beckenbauer or Eusebio

We’ve got someone twice as good

    We’ve got Harry, Harry Hood

    ‘Harry, Harry, Harry Hood

He’s half the price and he’s twice as good !’

‘Oh Harry Hood, Harry, Harry Hood…oh Harry Hood !’, to the tune of Mammy Blue by Roger Whittaker.

Couldn`t agree more. The MSSM does enough of a hatchet job on us without our support joining in.

Justified criticism is fine but I feel some posters go way over the top and have nothing positive to say about our team.

I was at a party with Harry ( in Barmulloch) in the 60`s. A Saturday night suit was quite important to us then and we paid weekly . As soon as we had finished paying one off ( about six months, I think) we would start considering another one. At that party, Harry went out twice to change suits ! Three new suits !!

He was probably showing off but he did it quite well :-))

  11. Worked in a school near Harry Hood’s first venture into the pub/food industry, the Sherwood Manor. Not unnaturally we used his place for our staff ‘briefings, and he proved to be a great guy/host. Very smart as well by giving us a room to ourselves upstairs that kept us away from annoying his regular customers.

    All round good guy.

I think the UNICEF game was a 3-3 draw with Benfica which we lost on penalties. Big Billy was the culprit who missed his kick.

  14. I posted the following last night but made a mess of it in the end when I got ‘interrupted’ Anyway, a bit of fun IF you are interested.

As you do on a Friday night when Mrs Emeraldbee has family around, you find yourself fannying about on youtube fitba vids and you sometimes come across a wee gem.

Feel free to ignore because it is not directly Celtic related (though there are MANY Celtic connections), but found a video I’d never seen before about the afters of the Hibs Scottish Cup win over the Hun. Some smashing wee personal cameos to enjoy. Particulrly loved the faither in NY just about wetting himself waiting for the final whistle while the wean looks on bemused.

  18. RACING…..THE GRAND NATIONAL at AINTREE Saturday 13th April 2024.

A couple of weeks ago while placing my ANTE POST Bets for Cheltenham, I was lucky enough to have TWO Winners at EARLY PRICES of 10/1 and 8/1 on a line together along with another Horse that runs in the Grand National next month…Its called ” CORACH RAMBLER”, and its Trained in Scotland by Lucinda Russell.

The Horse WON The Grand National last year, and has every chance of doing so again this year ?

I backed the Horse to win the National some weeks ago at the Ante Post odds of 12/1. I have it it on the same Ante Post line as the TWO Cheltenham Winners mentioned above at 10/1 and 8/1…so IF CORACH RAMBLER WINS next months NATIONAL…iI can expect a GREAT Return from the Bookie ?

CORACH RAMBLER ran yesterday in The Cheltenham Gold Cup, and was Placed THIRD at a good Price, as the distance was a bit too short for the Horse. I backed it EACH WAY yesterday and it didnt let me down.

According to Reports this morning, Lucinda Russell and her team are VERY Happy with the Horse running THIRD yesterday as it was a good ” Prep” for the National.

CORACH RAMBLER is NOW only 7/1 FAV with BETFRED for the National, and only 6/1 FAV with BET365.,,,After yesterdays great run.

Although I have it at odds of 12/1…..I have backed it again this morning at the lesser odds.

    Go on The Rambler !

    LOL

  19. SOCK IT TO THEM CELTIC…..

I watch a lot of Fitba from around Europe on TV.

In recent times there appears to be a ” TREND” for Players acoss Europe that Players are finding their Teams SOCKS far too tight around the calf.

As a result, so MANY Players must be ” Cutting holes” in their teams socks before very game ?

I am GLAD to report that I have NOT seen ANY Celtic Players ( so far) doing this to their socks.

I can therefore assume that the Celtic Kit is far superior to any other Kit…and ALLOWS for players with thick legs ?

    LOL

    HH.

  20. Monday 16th

I had a wonderful visit today with my mother, father and Marcella. Wonderful, considering the circumstances and the strain which indeed they are surely under.

As I expected, I received a lot of verbal flak from Screws going and coming from the actual visit. Their warped sense of humour was evident in their childish taunts, etcetera.

I wrapped myself up well to keep me from the cold. My weight is 58.25 kgs today, but I burnt up more energy today with the visit. I’ve no complaints of any nature.

I’ve noticed the orderlies are substituting slices of bread for bits of cake, etcetera — stealing the sweet things (which are rare anyway) for themselves. I don’t know whether it’s a case of ‘How low can you get?’ or ‘Well, could you blame them?’ But they take their choice and fill of the food always, so it’s the former.

They left my supper in tonight when the priest (Fr Murphy) was in. There were two bites out of the small doughy bun. I ask you!

I got the Sunday World newspaper; papers have been scarce for the past few days.

There is a certain Screw here who has taken it upon himself to harass me to the very end and in a very vindictive childish manner. It does not worry me, the harassment, but his attitude aggravates me occasionally. It is one thing to torture, but quite a different thing to exact enjoyment from it, that’s his type.

There was no mirror search going out to visits today — a pleasant change. Apparently, with the ending of the no-wash protest, the mercenary Screws have lost all their mercenary bonuses, etcetera, notwithstanding that they are also losing overtime and so on. So, not to be outdone, they aren’t going to carry out the mirror search any more, and its accompanying brutality, degradation, humiliation, etcetera.

Why! Because they aren’t being paid for it!

I’m continually wrapped up in blankets, but find it hard to keep my feet warm. It doesn’t help my body temperature, drinking pints of cold water. I’m still able to take the salt and five or six pints of water per day without too much discomfort.

The books that are available to me are trash. I’m going to ask for a dictionary tomorrow. I’d just sit and flick through that and learn, much more preferable to reading rubbish.

The English rag newspapers I barely read, perhaps flick through them and hope that no one opens the door. A copy of last week’s AP/RN was smuggled in and was read out last night (ingenuity of POWs again). I enjoyed listening to its contents (faultless – get off them ! – good lad Danny (Morrison)). I truly hope that the people read, take in and understand at least some of the truths that are to be regularly found in it. I see Paddy Devlin is at his usual tricks, and won’t come out and support the prisoners…

Well, that’s it for tonight. I must go. Oíche Mhaith.
