Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

  1. PS the guy should not have been able to get on park.. people are paid to stop it. Police probably recording GB at the time or in PSG section cheering the goals

  2. DONCASTER in Bother ?

According to sms Doncaster is to answer to his own SPFL Board in relation to him writing to Regan of the SFA asking for a Review into matters ?

Doncasters colleagues ( Budge etc) are claiming that they did NOT seek a Review from the SFA ?

So has Doncaster acted ” off his own back to try and distance himself from Regan”…..or has he fell asleep at the SPFL last meeting when they decided NOT to write to Regan asking a for a Review ?

    the plot thickens further methinks.

  3. pps when fan attacked Strachan years ago he was a t side of park for about 5 minutes…. dropped his bottle and had to back to pick it up.. Fans all shouting at police who stood and watched him.. Forget from which area he encroached onto the ground.

A Celtic supporter from Belfast. Therefore beyond criticism. I get all that.

Is the guy a member of the G.B. ? That`s the question.

  5. Is Doncaster agreeing with Celtic that their should be a Review and then openly defies his own SPFL Board by writing to Regan ?

The GB section is about 900 capacity but the actual GB itself is only around 90 members. Not everyone in that section is the GB.

  9. If he is a member of the GB, do we ban all of the GB?

And if he is not, do we ban everyone else?

Let’s leave it at that,no room for cheap point scoring based on speculation.

  11. MIT,

Her indoors also hails from Paisley, ‘tho I try not to hold that against her!

Incidentally I have never met the two afore-mentioned Canadians, but have had the pleasure of seeing Mr Young live on several occasions.

    Legend in my humble opinion!

Not sure if we need Brown AND Ntcham for these types of games. I’d go with McGregor in a slightly deeper role to add some extra creativity and get the ball moving through the midfield area more quickly.

Forrest to start, with Roberts or Rogic in the middle.

    Clean sheet would be good.

    ==================================================================

    Bobby.

The accusation of point scoring .

That`s what`s cheap. I don`t give a damn about point scoring. I care about Celtic.

Once again the interests of Celtic are damaged by one of our supporters.

    That`s the only issue.

The G.B. are serial offenders. That`s the fact.

You may unfairly describe it as ” cheap point scoring ” , but I`ll bet P.L. will see it as protecting the image and reputation of Celtic.

And that`s precisely the way I feel .

  19. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

The guys who came onto the park did not come out of the standing section, though he did enter the park from that corner.

I watched the whole thing unfold.

    1. He got onto the trackside from the front corner of the North Curve

    2. He ran past police and stewards who looked at him and did nothing

    3. He vaulted the temporary barrier at the side of the goal where the photographers section was

    4. He then vaulted the advertising hoardings on onto the park at the side of the 18 yard box

    6. He then ran half the length of the park and aimed a kick at Mbappe before being accosted

There are significant failures from both Police Scotland and the stewarding company who should have accosted him as soon as he got trackside. Celtic should be pursuing that angle!

Macjay, Jobo has confirmed he came from the section to the side of the North Curve so I can categorically assure you he isn’t a member of the Green Brigade.
