Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

Absolutely delighted that Kolo is back with us. A giant of a man, both in achievement and integrity.

I think he is an enormous asset to us.

I remember the game against Newhuns last year when that nasty gobsh*te Garner backed in to Mikael Lustig, then swallow-dived to the turf, trying to get Mik sent off for a non-existent headbutt.

Kolo walked (not ran – walked) up to the writhing Garner, bent over him and gave him an eye-to-eye talking to, then walked back to his position.

Which was pretty much the last we saw of Garner that day.

I’d love to know what he said to him, but it looked to me like he just told him not to be a cheat and to play the game clean.

I love the big man. Welcome back, Kolo. :)

If you’re around please accept a sincere apology for my post to you the other night. Personally, I don’t like the ‘buzz’ nature type posts which don’t name the particular poster but my response was entirely inaccurate and completely unacceptable.

Morelos has shown that he can score if he gets the chance, they were

always going too unearth a half-decent one sadly.

  10. But that’s it for the Huns, they’ve not created any other chances and they’re wide open.

Expect plenty of long balls next weekend

  11. Jobo,

Go for it….give us some updates….make the sacrifice for us all ya martyr….and save us the ignominy of watching it ;-))

    H.H.

  12. Seen most of this hun game, they are pish, the Jags a wee bit pisher, listening to the commentators creaming themself’s is quite funny, their striker isny bad, he will score plenty in sectarianland, Alves Oh Dear.

  13. Delighted to see Kolo back. He’s obviously highly regarded by the players. We need to develop what we have and he has the characteristics to help improve our young defenders.

  14. TD67,

Have you ever heard the phrase…..when you win, say nothing…..when you lose, say even less….yer gloating over PL n RES12 takes nothing away from the fact that he has deliberately screwed us in other areas….but you wallow in yer happy siht….and the rest of us will remember that he had to be pushed into his actions ;-))

From the heart of my bottom GIRFUY ;-))

    H.H.

  15. Different shoite, same flies, still pish

    Fact :-)

Jude heard about Kirkshaws club closing, sad to hear about Jackie and hope the family get through this sad period

BSR from earlier back in the 90s & early 2000’s the Kirkshaws bus was a joy and was a regular for us to go to Pittiodrie (AG) who then ran the bus was brilliant sorting us non-members out for tickets, my memory of the Kirkshaws bus was Aberdeen away we left Coatbridge from Kirkshaws club at 8am, me & mate won the annual (or every trip) doubles pool tourney in memory of one of the members who had passed at a younger age with the dreaded “C” at the stop off in Inverbervie …. anyway best part of the trip when my mate had to phone his missus from the pub phone at 2pm (no mobiles) to explain he didn’t realise we left at 8am for a 6.05pm kick off :-)

The journey back was magic but canny really remember it, happy days

  16. NYE

I’m afraid I don’t have a clue who she is, and seeing as the Mrs is settling down in front of the Telly now I’ve got a feeling I’ll be none the wiser tonight

  17. Although the Maryhill Magyars haven’t created a single chance I will continue to watch and report on developments on the basis that in the other games I’ve watched this season, Triggers Broom start decent and tend to fade at the first sign of adversity. On that basis I’d suggest next goal’s the winner.
