  1. St Stivs. Thanks for the clips. Great memories was at all of those games. Some asked about Simpson playing in that final game. No he did not play. Think John Fallon was in goal. In fact, I think I am correct in saying that the men who won the Big Cup were never beaten again because Big Jock never played them together as a team after Lisbon.

  2. Notice another new version of Sevco appearing in the media.

There’s now one called “Steven Gerrard’s Rangers” aka “Gerrard’s Rangers” which I suppose is a corruption (sic) of “Glasgow Rangers” of old ?

  3. My friends in Celtic.

Incredible figures of Man United spending.

Jose Mourinho has spent nearly £300m since 2016 on players.

Since Fergie retired they have spent £600m .

Spending money is not the answer, spending money wisely and good coaching may be.

  4. PHILBHOY – The clue was there. ?

Almore – Wish that I could get you a ticket mo chara.

Hopefully it’s a good game and yous get beat.

I don’t particularly support the Native games (prefer cricket or polo but the native broadcasters give very little coverage).

However their version of rugby was generally a game for hooligans played by hooligans ,but in recent years the Dublin team have brought a bit of finesse to the game (I suppose the civilising effect of coming from a West Brit garrison town)

This doesn’t seem to have met with the approval of the other 31 counties for some reason. To be honest I will never understand the natives over here.

  6. Hunny G said they coped with Killie long ball tactics….shite….see what Clarke says about that…

Ha ha my moniker was picked to annoy the locals when I lived in Navan, I grew up in Coolock, Dublin & had great craic telling all the Meath men that Navan had become a suburb of Dublin!!

I now live in Roscommon but never bothered to change the CQN name.

Do you think that a lot more Celtic fans /shareholders are interested and will demand answers, why should it take results to go belly up for this to happen, I do not share your optimism on this.

    ===========================

When results go against us Celtic supporters look for someone to blame, allowing rivals to cheat their way to equality is a source of censure, especially if it can be demonstrated that it happened and Celtic knew and did nothing.

Its not optimism, its a pessimistic view of human nature. ;)

    Connaire:

Pretty sure we played a 1-1 game at Ibrox in a league cup fixture in August with the lions line up.

  10. There’s been a fair bit of talk about the need to breathe new life into the team. Equally there’s been similar comment about CQN not being all that it used to be. This got me all Charlie Nic – sitting there thinking and maybe what’s needed is a simultaneous CQN Transfer Window. So, come January, I could put ‘Jobo Baldie’ on the market, sell it to, say ‘Almore’ and replace it by making a bid for, admittedly my favourite blog name of all, Dontbraatbackinanger. By the time 1st February comes around there could have been so many transfers that it’d be difficult to know who was who and we’d all be starting anew. We’d have morning weather reports from The Battered Bunnet, forensic polite well constructed res 12 arguments from KevJungle and weekly word from ole Dick Byrne that we was on the Iron Horse heading to the game! We might also have Christina Hendricks regularly posting suggestive pictures of Bournesouprecipe.

    Nurse…..nurse…..

  11. Huns supporters including Scoddish media think their favoured team are flying high and about to win all. God bless them in their delusion so soon.

They have improved. We have a challenge this year. Foolish to think otherwise.

Lets see what happens on 2nd Sept.

Challenge is good for us. Exciting times. Like before their liquidation when every point counted.

A transfer Windae on CQN am sure there would be a lot of free transfers to “Sevco media” some would probably be happier there if happy is the correct adjective :-)

Anyhow, a big day the morra MissGFTB starts P6 (2 days later than the rest with the Headies blessing) thought she might struggle as her Da hated school but one of her pals just face timed to say she is a buddy to a P1…. she is buzzing, wish she would get that excited about the Hoops, sun is shining in ML5

Celtic aren’t as bad as some make out, roll on Sudova… if we make the group stages I hope we get 3 teams with a “v”

Watched the Hurling in Mulligans Manchester today. Great game. Then watched the rest of Brighton v Man U game. Lots of unhappy United fans in here tonight. Wee shame Mourinho, yer supporters hate you. I have disliked you since Seville 2003.

AULDHEID,DESSYBHOY, DAVID66, WHAT IS THE STARS, MIKE IN TORONTO, WEEBAWBABBITTY, im sorry if ive missed anybody, thanks for your kind thoughts about Annette. she has been transferred this afternoon to st josephs hospice to see out her final days, the doctors have told her she will fall into a coma and will not awake she will feel no pain, she is comforted by the fact her severely disabled daughter anne is with us, and also George the west highland terrier who is really getting on with frankie and benny, sorry for the non football post but just thought you might like to know, funny thing is Annette being from irish catholic stock always wanted to visit celtic park and I had said I would take her one day . but she will be in paradise soon.ywnwa.

Ronnie took the field that day, when the teams emerged, but didn’t play, due to a career ending shoulder injury.

I can’t remember if it was Fallon or Williams who actually played.

Was Brendan down seeing Peters boy today?

Yet another Man City player linked.

I have got to say that I disagree with everything the modern Man City stand for. New money not the money they can generate has got them there. Gardiola and his suspicious past in failing drugs tests as a player.

Players on development pathways at European Cup winning sides who can pull 60,000 fans.

  27. VII – Player Registration – Europa League

42.07 List A has to be submitted online by the following fixed deadlines:

    (f) 3 September 2018 (24.00CET) for all further matches from the first match in the group stage up to and including the final.

43.01 As of the round of 32, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February 2019 (24.00CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.

43.02 Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or group stage of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.

  28. mullet and co 2 on

Man U are still the richest in the World ahead of the new money and state sponsored clubs.

The issue they have is the managers plans and wishes are not in step with the owners. He will leave soon. I actually quite like Mourinho now that he is suffering a bit.

  29. So, I have watched a few Sevco games this season. My considered opinion:

Celtic fans are panicking unnecessarily. They really aren’t that good.

First thing you have to remember is that they won quite a few games last season too. They only scuddings they took were against us. Pedro beat Aberdeen 3-0, they won at Easter Road, hit 6 against Hamilton… So them actually winning (and drawing) shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

My take on it is that McAllister (who I suspect is the real brains of the operation) has focused initially on tightening the defence, so that they lose fewer comedy goals this year. (This will mean, sadly, fewer funny Tom Commentator moments). You can see the improvement already – they look stronger and more organised at the back and I suspect they will keep many more clean sheets this year than last.

However, in every game I’ve watched, their keeper has had to make at least one brilliant save, often 2 or 3, which suggests, despite the improvement, they still give up chances. Celtic are by far the most creative team in Scotland, and there will remain brilliant opportunities for the likes of Forrest, Rogic, Sinclair, CalMac, Eddie, and Moussa against them.

Secondly, middle to front they remain poor. Arfield and Ejaria are nothing special, Murphy looks like he’s out for a long while, and Morelos is totally hit and miss. Their best player remains, in my opinion, Tavernier, who is responsible for creating most of their goals.

Another thing to note is they are very dirty. Already this season there’s been 2 reds in the league (one laughably rescinded), and they got 5 bookings against Maribor. Today, Morelos and Arfield had to be subbed before they got sent off.

Gerrard also definitely has something of the “arrogant tit” about him. Like Warbs, he’s very keen to demand “respect”, and is affronted when it doesn’t arrive. A big ego I suspect, who will not take well to defeat or to the inevitable impending financial reality they have been running away from for 6 years.

The media are talking them up something awful – unsurprisingly, as most of them are fanboys (Raman, Chris Jack, Keith Jackson, are amongst the worst). And their fans are famously, in the words of France Football “the stupidest fans in the world”, so they are lapping it up.

The greatest danger to us is, as many have said, complacency. At the moment, our defence looks like the front end of the Titanic, and we look like conceding against whoever we play. The danger could be they snatch an early goal, and sit back, defending for their lives.

That’s their best hope I think. beyond that, they are marginally better than Aberdeen and the rest, and will probably finish second. But I’d be stunned if they finished above us.

  31. Linked with Diego Reyes, Jeffrey Bruma and Douglas Luiz. Two defenders and a midfielder. I’ll be pretty stunned if we get any of them.
