Pawns cinch and the proxy war

220

The dispute Newco have with the Scottish Professional Football League over their sponsorship deal with car retailer cinch might look a bit ridiculous.  The club are refusing to display SPFL sponsor logos and, apparently, refused to permit their manager to be interviewed by BT Sport unless the broadcaster taped over the logos at Motherwell on Saturday.

It’s an odd hill on which to stand, even after considering that cinch are direct competitors to the Newco chairman’s car retailer business. cinch will continue to advertise and gain market share at the expense of traditional retailers, the chairman is called Park, not Canute.

It makes more sense if you consider Newco want to replace SPFL CEO Neil Doncaster with a more compliant individual, think a 21st century Jim Farry.  If they can beat the SPFL in the courts, they can push for Doncaster’s removal with some authority. For this, any small hill will be sufficient.

This is a proxy war with the governance of our game is the real tide.

I know a few guys who did work for PP; they are the Ryanair of betting. Brilliant PR through looking daft. Really good IT too

Coneybhoy, sorry mate, Mum needed work done at her house. I was rewarded with a bottle of Chablis for my efforts. Be rude not to accept. She knows her boy well.😂

  3. It is, of course, right & proper that Ibrox be excluded from any share of the ‘cinch’ payout. If you don’t by a ticket, you can’t win a prize. I’m sure Ibrox know this – c£80k is very ‘small beer’ compared to the c£100m pumped in to cover losses and ensure the ‘going concern’ by Park, other investors and soft-loan providers, since the new club was incorporated.

If’cinch’ cancel their annual sponsorship due to the Ibrox stance and, if a binding contract has been broken by Rangers, then all the other clubs denied that money could sue for loss of income

As for is taking any ‘tit for tat’ action on arches/old firm and the like – why would we? We have shown to our credit during unprecedented success over the last ten years that we don’t ‘get down and dirty’ in matters involving, or, instigated by the Ibrox club.

There has been so much recent assertion which states “we’re not half of anything” – so why would we be half of their shenanigans?

Really enjoyed it. They got banned from IFA due to violence, went years defunct and then ex players talked the FAI, FIFA into a move south and then the IFA to let them go

They had a South African a Brazilian and a Czech i think, during the troubles

Won a treble and played Benfica, great stuff

To be fair, they gave stats on the murders etc during that period but they all said the club was a great escape for everyone

Look how much this season is similar to Win Jansen year.

A manager came from Japan unknown and slated by the press ( Jansen /Postecoglo )

Rangers were going to win everything.

He signed an unknown who turned out to be world class (Larsson/Kyogo)

Signed a big Swedish defender (Mjallby /Starfelt)

Lost first league game 2-1 in Edinburgh ( Hibs/Hearts)

Lost first old firm game 1-0 goal scored by defender ( Gough/Helander)

    Won league cup.

Signed quality midfielder (Lambert/Hatate) who made difference in next old firm game which turned around the league.

Won the third old firm game at Ibrox 2-1.

Lost to rangers 2-1 in Scottish cup semi final leaving Rangers to play Hearts in final which Hearts won.

    Still to come

    Celtic win the league.

Hearts pump Rangers in the final

The thing that baffles me about sevco 2012 and their hissy fit with Cinch is, they say the have a contract with the busman from Hamilton ,but for the life of me I cannot remember seeing any advertising around the stadium on wall

Woolworths was a victim of predatory capitalism. Cannot remember how many stores there were in Scotland, seemed like every half decent sized town had one in its’ heyday. Lot of workers, many women, lost out in the admin process that followed. Or was it liquidation?

  21. A good article on Read Celtic blog about the cheating of referees in Italy and the similarities here.

It references the Netflix programme Bad Sport about the cheating of “Moggi” I think, the owner of Juventus and how he had the media and referees supervisors in his pocket.

I have watched it a while ago.

Anyone who thinks we are playing a fair game here in Scotland should watch the documentary and your mind will be changed about our game.

It becomes even more incredible to think of the amount of trophies and successes Glasgow Celtic have had in this horrible cesspit of a country.

    ——

You make a fair points, but think of it this way. Park & many others with business interests have been bankrolling the club for years. If one ‘investor’ wanted to introduce his business’s advertising into the stadium and all other club opportunities, then probably they all would – so it is my guess that all have agreed not to.

“cinch’ is a direct competitor to Park’s business , so here’s the question: if you were one of the people keeping a football club alive using money that you earned from your business, would you let a direct competitor plaster their advertising all over the stadium & team outfits?

If the FA Cup had done a deal with JD Sports, would Mike Ashley have allowed all their advertising paraphernalia into St James’s Park?…I really don’t think so. He wouldn’t have signed such a contract – it’s for those reasons that I don’t think Park did either.

That was a shocking end to Season 6 Episode 3 of BETTER CALL SAUL.

    Never saw that coming.

Then you obviously missed the content warning at the start, which specifically referred to the type of incident you’re referring to.

So if you’d taken note of the warning and were thinking all the way through the show ‘when’s that going to happen’, then the final shot (as it were) wouldn’t have been a surprise.

They really need to have a spoiler alert before the content warning.

Watching us against the sevco game again and I find myself revising my initial thoughts on the game .

In the local public house watching it in real time (mostly through the bottom of an empty pint glass ) ,I thought we were poor and sevco were the better side.

Now I just think they were lucky and boaby madjin was their MOTM
