Payback for Turnbull Hutton

735

You all think you’re so smart, smugly laughing at the outcome of a game in a tournament you didn’t even know existed until recently.  Let me tell you, yesterday’s defeat of Newco Rangers was nothing short of calamitous for the road I hoped the club would take.

Ally McCoist is crucial to all the things I hope happens to Newco in the years to come.  He alone can deliver the hilarity waiting for when his team face full time footballers every week.  Who else could spend so much yet produce so little?  Who else would have the sheer brass neck to demand such a salary, even if partially deferred, in order to endorse the spivs as suitable recipients of season ticket money?  This guy is unique and of immeasurable value.

Yesterday’s defeat fundamentally weakens his position.  What now when, in true Rangers tradition, he stands in front of this year’s AGM thanking ‘yous’ for being the cream in his doughnut?  Will they still cheer at being patronised like applauding seals completely lacking in self-awareness?

Mark my words, anything which undermines McCoist is unwelcome.  A Ramsden’s Cup win would allow him to claim as much credit as he could waddle off with and would have upset no one.  They had a party at Ibrox planned, like it was 1975 all over again.  The humiliation must be significant.

The way forward for Newco Rangers is to put pressure on their board to release badly needed funds for the manager to spend in the hope of winning promotion from the Championship next season.

A word for Raith Rovers and their chairman Turnbull Hutton.  It was a Raith Rovers director who sat across the table from one of the Rangers clubs (I’ve lost track) to judge their failure to dispense their tax and other duties during season 2011-12.  McCoist then publicly demanded to know the names of the panel members.

It was Raith’s Starks Park ground which needed 24 hour security after receiving a threat to burn it to the ground following McCoist’s outburst.  Turnbull Hutton stood firm and was one of the voices which ensured the rules were applied as they stood.

Seville – The Celtic Movement

“Going into the second leg, it was all in Liverpool’s favour and on paper it was Celtic’s toughest test. That wasn’t to be the case though as Celtic achieved a very comfortable 2-0 at Anfield. Both goals were superb to top a fantastic victory. A low free kick from Alan Thompson and a wonderful strike from John Hartson were the difference in this game. Celtic went through to the semi-final 3-1 on aggregate.”

Sorry. I have been out. I don`t know if there is a list of Supporters` busses but I am assuming a fair few on here travel that way. I was thinking those willing ( I am ) could email their addresses to you and you would send out the flyers. As well as my Bus, I could give them to a guy who sits beside me at the games who travels in on another Supporters` Bus and ask him to distribute. I am sure CQNers have access to a great many of these busses.

You are , of course, correct. A very good Hun effort hit the post and the pony-tailed defender had two very good headed chances. Sleekit is obviously very unlucky and deserves a new contract. He must stay.

    His views are ignorant .

At this stage , sacking him is way over the top.

He should be on a staged warning .

We are supporters , we and the club should support him.

If he re offends then that would have to be dealt with more severely.

Cantona and Suarez were guilty of much bigger crimes.

They were supported by their manager , club and it’s supporters.

At this juncture I trust Lenny, Celtic and the majority of our faithful supporters will do the same .

  11. I didn’t want Griffiths signed , neither did quite a large number of Celtic supporters.

My reasons were nothing to do with his footballing ability. He offers something we haven’t had for a while in that position. Not since Kenny Miller to be precise. He has Millers ability to press the defense , and has even more pace than Miller . He is also a better finisher and a much better crosser from wide area’s

In short he is an asset on the pitch.

I didn’t want him signed because he is a liability off the pitch. I know Celtic debated over whether he would moderate his off field behaviour, over whether he would toe the line, over whether he would mature. I know the club were fully aware that any transgression would be given maximum media coverage.

The club also knew that a transgression may have exposure delayed to take coverage away from whatever Rangers farce was current

All of this has come to pass. The club are disappointed but not surprised. The challenge now is what to do. There are some transgressions that just require a slap on the wrist , no matter how much fuss the Daily Record wants to make of it.

Hearts are going bust was one such transgression & Celtic dealt with it appropriately. However “why don’t you go home” is altogether more serious. The racist and sectarian version is aimed at our club and our fans by supporters of Rangers. In very large numbers on some occasions. It is highly offensive. It is illegal.

For anyone at Celtic , from Chairman to tea-lady, to engage in a similar sentiment is completely unacceptable. I am not going to suggest how the club should react, other than I would not fire him summarily . Do that and with no transfer fee he will be playing at Ibrox next season. If Celtic get rid of him , it must be on a sale basis, and with clauses built in that effectively make any onward sale prohibitive.

What I will say is that I very much doubt that Griffiths will change his behaviour . He is a deeply flawed individual , who appears to have no respect for the opportunity he was given or the community he represents.

Celtic took a chance that he would behave. That was risky and they must now know he will not behave

I haven’t seen the video, but I’m reading on different websites that Leigh Griffiths starts to sing a song, then when the Pub started the Rudi Skacel ditty he sat down pretty sharply, this would imply that:

    a) He didn’t start the Skacel abuse.

    b) Knew that it would be an issue, therefore did not take part.

Have we signed a completely unacceptable idiot? or did this young man realise that things were going to far and tried to get disassociate himself from the song.

If so the whole thing stinks of the media trying very hard to get rid of another of our (potentialy) key players – a la Hooper etc.

I think all Huns in Scotland need therapy or at least counseling. Even though it’s very expensive we as a state shouldn’t be so niggardly.

  17. If the “racism” Leigh Griffiths had indulged in was of the white supremacy type, then there would be no place for him at Celtic FC. If it is of the uninformed, daft boy kind, he should be educated in a manner which would ensure it never happened again.

I really hope Celtic do not try to appease the MSSM on this one.

Leigh Griffiths, is he any good at singing? All this hulabaloo, on the front page of the DR etc, can we not just call it banter? OK, we need to educate the guy, and we should start by sending him out to do some charity work for those less fortunate, or something similar, at his age, clearly, he’s not beyond redemption. But sacking him! Steady on ghuys, lets not like the SMSM get carried away wi ourselves.

The worst aspect of the Griffiths fiasco is that it has given the MSM a heaven sent excuse to bury bad Sevco news,

Not that they need much of an excuse. If the boy had dropped some litter in the street they would have used that.

Leigh Griffiths isn’t someone on a low/average salary struggling to make ends meet. This is a guy in a very privileged position, who rakes in thousands per week from a club that demands certain standards (we are rightly proud of them, as no doubt are West Bromwich Albion), which include not mouthing off abuse about ‘a f***ing refugee’ – obviously too much to ask from Griffiths.
