Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

Please point out to me where I was too harsh on Paul or anybody else?

I’m allowed my opinion and my concerns, I’d rather focus on Tonev and the farcical SFA than Rangers, if others want to focus on Rangers then be it, but I reiterate, this is Celtic Quick News, the SFA have opened season on Celtic and her employees, I’d think that would be of more import than how skint the huns are.

Just what is it you want, your a very unhappy person, supporting a club, top of the league by six points, playing in Europe after Christmas, semi finals of the SLC 5th round of the scottish cup, admitted we all would like a run in the CL sure, it didn’t happen and you know what, it didn’t happen for other clubs a lot bigger than us, cam doon Ffs, enjoy life.

Answering your question is not an endorsement of the content.

I understand human nature and the part self preservation plays in decision making.

That is not an endorsement, it’s how things are.

Peter Lawwell has revealed the Hoops will step up their interest in Chinese midfielder Zhang Xizhe in the new year.

A Celtic delegation was in China earlier this month to attempt to widen the club’s global appeal and gain a foothold in the emerging Far East market.

They watched exciting 22-year-old international midfielder Xizhe, who plays for Beijing Guoan, and Lawwell was full of praise for the seven-cap star.

The Parkhead chief exec said: “We were informed about him earlier this year. He is an intelligent player and left a profound impression on us.

“We were in China with officials from Scottish football to explore live TV coverage and we are very interested in the local market.

“In addition to this we wanted to have a look at Zhang. He is a phenomenal player and very hopeful of getting a place in the Celtic squad. He only turned 22 this year and is very good physically and technically.

“‘He is improving all the time but one of the most important issues would be how he would adapt to the rhythm of European football which is very different from the Chinese League.”

Lawwell, in an interview with Beijing’s Legal Mirror newspaper, reckons Zhang can follow in the footsteps of previous Celtic forays into the Asian market.

He added: “Shunsuke Nakamura of Japan and South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung had great success with Celtic and both are similar to Zhang because they play in a central midfield role.

“But of course he would need to prove himself. Next year we will return to Beijing to discuss business co-operation and when the time is right we will invite Zhang to join the team.”

A good few stuck with they’re team for two years of this shambles , yes recently they have dissapeared .

For nearly three years my grandson and myself have went to the games without me once even contemplating any trouble in or around the ground

Selfishly i want that to continue , i know there are fans/ freinds who cant wait to play against them in the cup / league , i just hope that they and their children get home from the ground or pubs safley.

Other than that yes its still great to be a

    Celtic fan …;))

I put a ? mark to denote my uncertainty on the number. It will have been 12 when the SPL, but same point applies – Celtic only have one vote.

  13. Bulgarian FA repeating on National TV they will back Alexsandar Tonev to clear his name 100%.

If that means taking the issue to a higher court of law then the BFA will offer every available assistance (financial or otherwise) to assist the player.

  14. tonydonnelly67:

There is, to my mind (and if I’m wrong I’m happy to be corrected) an awful, old, Nike slogan – Be all you can be – but when it comes to Celtic that slogan resonates, but with the caveat that we never, ever lose our ethos or family spirit.

I want to see competition in Scottish football, that is the remit of the SFA/SPL/SFL, for the good of Scottish football, I also want to see Celtic focus more on ambition as opposed bank balances. By ambition I mean aspiring to compete in Europe. If that is not their desire I’d rather we gave our bank balance to the Scottish needy, we’d still have a squad to win the league and our ethos and Raison d’être would be enhanced beyond measure or equal.

Or maybe we could spend our excess money on a few busty cheerleaders to frivol and vault, lots of vaulting and a wee bit more frivoling too, to brighten the dark days when the board ban the Green Brigade and the Celtic Trust.

Or maybe we could spend some on toilet paper and soap and hot water in our bogs.

When the 5 way agreement was drafted, the SPL who are part of the agreement had a Celtic director on the SPL board.

Now that tells me that the people on the SPL board would be party to the agreement and what it contained.

There was no vote for Celtic to abstain from.

The spl board knew what was in the agreement, and were part of the agreement, and Celtic were on the spl board.

    It’s common knowledge.
