Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

I read earlier that Ally’s fate was going to be discussed. Maybe it was a spelling mistake…..

There’s no such thing as bad self publicity – 2 (More) horrendous defeats go past and all the talk is of Ally, or his resolve in the face of hardship, what he’s had to endure, what he’s sacrificed, his relationship with all the soon to be ex-employees…

Not surprised Caesar is selling well.

Caesar and Brutus were great mates and Tims until they had an argument about the number slain by Caesar in his wars in Gaul. Caesar claimed 10,000. Brutus said that he ha done a headcount and it was nearer 500.

“Tis not I who lie, Bruti ! Tis you who know not the new rule !”

    “Whit rule ?”

“In Europe, away gauls count double !”

  6. Sleekit has more damage to do to Sevco in the way of taking out money and chasing fans away on the instructions of his masters and that aint the board IMHO.

“No independent governance committee, investigator, or arbitration panel can change the culture of an organisation.”

No, nothing to do with the SFA. Michael Garcia on FIFA.

its only about money and the spivs seeking to fleece money from the fans..

they are only interested in taking money from the gullable fans whom they have lied to…

    On the 5-way agreement which, to my mind, demonstrates sporting corruption from those running football at that time, my guess at the signatories are;

    SFA – Regan

    SFL – Longmuir

RFC – Green (on behalf of D&P)

    Sevco – Green

SPL – one of Doncaster, Topping or Petrie. Of those three who were the SPL Board at the time I believe, my pick is Petrie.

  11. Just read http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30509080 and made the following formal complaint to the BBC.

The paragraph in you unattributed story:

“Administration and subsequent liquidation of the former company that ran the club resulted in Rangers playing in the fourth tier of Scottish football.”

is factually incorrect. The former company that was liquidated on 12 June 2012 was Rangers Football Club Limited (SC004276) an incorporation (27/5/1899) of Rangers Football Club founded circa 1872.

The “former company” you refer to didn’t run the “club”. The “former company” you refer to was the “club”. In law they were one and the same thing.

A “new company” and “club” called Sevco Scotland Limited (SC425159 incorporated 29/5/2012) was established by a group of investors who purchased some of the assets of the SC004276 and renamed themselves The Rangers Football Club. So you can see that these are entirely separate entities.

I am sure you did not necessary mean to be factually incorrect, and I can see where the confusion comes from, but it’s all about company registration numbers not names. I expect you to remove the paragraph forthwith.

I am sure you would not want the creditors of SC004276 to be confused and to initiate cease and desist actions on SC425159.

  12. I’ve never known the topic of this blog to require an introduction and a Leader article from Paul.

Topics take off and catch fire because they are of interest and fire the imagination.

So, if Sevco get discussed it is because posters are fascinated, amused, angered or bewildered by them.

We have had many (far too many) discussions about the Referendum. As far as I am aware, Paul has not written one leader post about said Referendum.

If you want to change the topic, introduce a new one!

If it is of interest to many they will respond.

How many can answer, without checking back, what is the title and topic of the current blog thread we are posting on? I certainly do not know and I have posed the question.

  13. I think we’re missing something surrounding the 5 way agreement, duff&phelps would have put their signatures on that document, if or when they are found guilty of fraud where does that leave the agreement?

Celtic should be shouting out about this Masonic and fraudulent agreement

  14. FFin’ conflicted:

“Cue 12,000 on Saturday with a muted, bleak, depressing atmosphere. Back almost exactly to the crowds, atmosphere and football of 30 years ago. The hard work and vision of David Holmes shortly after that has been p*ssed away to oblivion. We’re back to being also rans and whipping boys. F***ing so sad.”

    ——

“Yes, all gone…now just bitterness, rancour, apathy and pockets of anger.

We’re back 3 decades….and without the hope we had then.”

    ——

“Embarrassing on and off the field, i am finally beaten cant take this sh*t anymore”

    ——

“It is now clear that Ally’s position is now unattainable”

    ——

“Remember how much Ally gave up in TV money to take the assistant job way back. Well over £1m pa. Nobody can accuse him of being money orientated.”

    ——

“They will be all pals tonight out for dinner and champers and maybe a wee bit of karaoke”

    ——

“Mccoist is a joke he is now rippin the p*ss, 750k for a lame duck manager”

    ——

“He is playing a blinder, he is using the only leverage he has to oust the regime and all you can spout are insults ? I hope its just a case of this strategy being waaaay over your head”

    ——

“I want Ally to have a seat at the AGM, he will be the only [Sevco] man at the table”

    ——

“Managerial ability aside I think McCoist could have something up his sleeve.”

    ——

“I’m glad we’ve still got McCoist in the trenches.”

  15. Nearly wet myself…

  17. By announcing he will not renew his contract in 12 months time, Fatty gets his salary doubled (if it was ever halved in the first place) much to the annoyance of ra peepil. The fact he then meets the decision makers today and doesn’t get paid off for his brass balls tells you everything you need to know regarding who has the stronger hand. Many on here thought Ashley’s pit bull would tear Sally to shreds – so what happened?

Ashley could get rid of him for a pittance (relatively speaking) if he cared about football results so why didn’t he? Is he going for the admin route and going to blame McCoist for tipping them over the edge? Please let it be so :)

  18. So Sally stays with the new club? Excellent news.

But has he withdrawn his resignation? Have the issues that led him to try to resign been addressed, leaving him happy at his work? I’m sure our crack corps of Scottish football journalist will be asking all sorts of searching questions.
